Former Smashbash finalist here: the little aesthetic choices you made at the end (clipping the horns, adding the parchment/bandages) really adds to the overall aesthetic and the finished model looks solid. Best of luck Jeremy!
Wow, what a wicked outcome! Throughout the video, I kept thinking, "Okay, this is cool!" And then you made an addition to it and it kept getting cooler and cooler! The final result really turned out something special, and I absolutely love every bit of it. I hope you win!
My fear was to put my videos / craft out on youtube for people to see and mostly people would hate my crafts and that stopped me so many times but now, I throw that fear aside and started putting it out there. I am glad that I did it now. Always loved your work and I hope one day I can bring joy for what I bring to my crafts like you have.
It’s great to see the confidence and enthusiasm beaming from you out of this video. Can’t wait for all those teased projects coming up that were shown in the video. Keep up the awesome work! I think we’re coming into another golden era for the channel :D
Hi Jeremy - why are you SO stoked about this project? Well, I've watched you for years and you are a most most, most accomplished terrain builder dude. But, watching this video has shown me one thing, you have a deep seated ability for mash-up modelling. I think that your hyper mood is evidence of how true this is. Ok; from slapchop to Squidmar there are many painting techniques and we've heard you self-deprecate about painting minis before - but you have a great oil-wash technique that is almost a style [like Bill making Stuff's Crustard tech]. I'm glad you rectified that banner it was a superb save. More chop-shop mini builds please - we can see the twinkle in your eye!
I absolutely love that you had tried something new. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone this past year and joined a hobby competition. It was a 4 x 4, terrain competition. And after entering, come to find out, you were one of the judges. Which your work had been my inspiration the whole time.
Im so glad you did this. I am a needle felter and make mice with human characteristics. For the longest time, I have been wanting to do the main character's in A Christmas Carol. I had been hesitant since they would have to be sold as a set. A couple of weeks ago, I decided to just do it. It's been a ton of fun, even the costumes which can get pretty intense at times. Sometimes we just have to go and do it and Im glad you did. I think your kit bashing was creative and turned out great. I hope you win but if you don't in a way you already did!
I enjoyed seeing you pull out multiple tricks that I have seen you test, innovate, experiment with or develop over the years all in one small project. From ink washes you fell in love with to the green stuff molding and dremel carving and even the pen and paper with CV glue trick (would not have been surprised if UV resin got used, at all) . Even a touch of your Isles of torment and Killteam? color scheme and methods came in here, heck you even used the roller on the base.
At first I thought "I'd put the horn end of the tail pointing the other way arount to do curve-counter curve"... but once it was finished I think you did the right call! I love how when the eyes go down the axe ad into the tail, that "tail tip" guides the eyes back into the mini's main body.
I never seen a model converted by mainly rotatory bits. That was pretty cool to watch. The end result is pretty cool and have some energy to him. I would not be surprised to see him festured into some metal album cover.
This video has lots of Miscast vibes, in only the best ways (especially in the time-lapse/montage scenes). I also just love the direction you took him in, you have a great eye for kitbashing.
This looks great. The axe is so badass. The more you work on things, the better they get, this mini improved with every change you made. I like it a lot.
I've been following you for a while and this is the first time I've felt the need to comment. That mini is absolutely the coolest! Job well done! Congrats on getting over that fear and doubt and doing the uncomfortable.
I really like the flagstone base! I know the miniature is amazing but I just really like the little touches with neat textured bases. I like miniatures like this that have tattered fancy clothes. At one point there was probably some sort of deep purpose behind his actions. But now he is so mutated that you really can't tell if there is any meaning behind the vestiges or if he is just a monster with an axe mindlessly still wearing the symbols.
I enjoy this "talking while doing" so much more than the voice over videos. Makes me feel like I'm sitting right there next to you at the table. More please! :D
That was some really impressive work with the Dremmel when it came to cutting down the original model. Flashbacks to trying to kitbash as a kid in the 90's with my exacto knife and solid pewter models. Wish I could have managed half as well as you did, and the final model came out great!
Near the end when you said you could continuously work on it you reminded me of the quote, "Art is never finished, only abandoned". Looks fantastic dude!
Agreed!! BESTIARUM ROCKS. As far as painting symbols and sigils, have you tried out or used acrylic paint pens? I find I get great results with them and they're fast and easy to use. 👍👍
Great music throughout the video, I don't know if this is your normal music but if it is I never noticed it before. The mini turned out great but more importantly is your enthusiasm for it.
I was thinking the tail blades made a nice balance for the ax, but cutting them off was the right call. The third blade in the middle was a cool touch as well. Planning to enter the Resin Beast next year too. COViD a few weeks before the con led me to not enter this year.
I remember when all the minis we had access to were made with normal lead, just like wargaming minis had been for centuries. We painted them to avoid having the lead oxide rub off and get onto (into!?) our hands.
My dad bought a mould from an Irish company at a game Convention to cast minis. Walked a lot of miles that summer picking up lead wheel weights to melt down for figures.
@@russrandall4834 that sounds cool! I only played around with casting using plaster and liquid latex as a kid, but a friend’s uncle (re?)cast collectible statues but I never got to ask him about them.
Definitely a true original kitbash, well done! I wince every time I see that spinning sawblade near your fingers - but I also have the same reaction every time I use one myself!
Music this episode was dope. Thank you. Also, really inspiring to see you embrace a creative wish-list item. Certainly fighting my own desire/hesitations to do so.
man, i've really missed seeing stuff from you! this reminds me of when you started the idols of torment kitbash videos. i've been a huge fan for years, its amazing to see the things you create, and its inspiring as an amateur builder
I am trying to build a PSP 3000 just missing the d-pad membrane so that I can use it along with a smaller screwdriver to get the screws into the holes to close up the console
Such delicate kitbashing, I'm impressed! Love to see more things in SMASHBASH, and yours will be a glorious combatant in the Battle Royale. Everyone in the comments should consider entering too!
I’m not sure if I’m missing the notifications about your videos, or if UA-cam is only notifying me of some of them. I’m only getting notified or suggested every 3rd or 4th video. I went ahead and watched the other 2 before I watched this one.
Honestly at first I thought... naw, not going to work. Well, you proved me wrong. And later I thought... that's not going to look good. ( At least to me. ) But again I was wrong.... Great job!
oh dear... BESTIARUM'S campaign is so great... again you forcing me to spend money on good things xD thank you, it's really cool grimdark models! can't wait to print them
one thing i take away from this that I think is super important for new hobbyists like myself. You adding a feature, than 5 steps later removing that. Changing on the fly and letting creativity flow instead of being super focused. Simple to think of, hard to implement.
Very very cool. I'm inspired. I was also very worried when I saw you come so close to your fingers with the dremmel over and over and over. Maybe I'm a big chicken, but I never come anywhere near the thing as it's spinning. You are a very brave and skilled man :)
Also loved all the pivoting you did while making this! Wasn't "working"? No problem, just add stuff on mid process. This is exactly the right mentality! Hooray!

Nice to see going to a con gave you a creative burst. Sometimes those little distractions are just what you need.
The change to the parchment was CLUTCH! Love the choices for this bash :)

It looks great!! I'm really happy you've been focusing on things that make you happy, Adepticon is so good for the creative soul.
Feeling a little liberated 🥰
That paper effect plasticard work was awesome! Super inspiring. It was awesome to meet you at Adepticon and check out Idols of Torment!
This video has lots of Miscast vibes, in only the best ways (especially in the time-lapse/montage scenes).
I also just love the direction you took him in, you have a great eye for kitbashing.
Was really cool seeing you do a kitbash, and following the thought process. Sick little dude, looks pretty wicked!
Looove Bestiarum. I use the same cultists you took the axes from for my fanatical summoner cult for Frostgrave.
This looks great. The axe is so badass. The more you work on things, the better they get, this mini improved with every change you made. I like it a lot.

Incredible silhouette. Gas mask was the right choice.

Jeremy! Too awesome seeing you jumping in on some contests! Love your vids, as the content is always inspiring. Thank you!
Near the end when you said you could continuously work on it you reminded me of the quote, "Art is never finished, only abandoned". Looks fantastic dude!
These kind of things are often scarier to start than to actually make. Well done!

Yea! Someone else remembers Ral Parrha minis!
Who could forget?!
Remember for sure, but they were so derpy compared to GW minis. There were some cool ones though.
I remember when all the minis we had access to were made with normal lead, just like wargaming minis had been for centuries.

Meh, it’s one that doesn’t cut flesh when you touch it.
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial oh that's super cool! Better than mine then, mine's literally a circular saw attachment on a cheap Chinese dremel.
Model looks sick!!! Also stoked for the “tape and mini”!!

I love all Black Magic Craft videos👏👍🤙
Great Video and a very great message, hope i get one day the strength for a project like yours
Very cool. It looks like a worthy boss to fight in a dungeon 👍
A worthy entry. I look forward in competing in this Battle Royal, may the best person win.
This Mini looks sooooo cool. Thanks for sharing with us your hobby.
Bestiarum's models are incredible month after month. I'm a big fan of their "man eaters" (ogres) in particular
So good!
Beastarium is cool, though I reckon Lord of the Print does the best realistic monsters.
pretty interesting to see what it was turn into what it became. well done man, and good luck!
One heck of a scratch bash!!!! Love the results 😊😊😊
nice job and really appreciate seeing the awesome things you make, thanks
Really cool outcome, has a weird mixed vibe of a mutant from Necromunda and Hestur the King in Yellow
Really great message about just going for it. Very inspiring
Fantastic dude. That looked really fun!
This looks like something I'd fight in darksouls, looks awesome
I am trying to build a PSP 3000 just missing the d-pad membrane so that I can use it along with a smaller screwdriver to get the screws into the holes to close up the console
This turned out great, Jeremy
It looks great, hope to see more weird creations on the channel.
That mini is amazing. Thank you for sharing.
I use Bestarium for my Shadow of the demonlord game! Really fits the vibe of it!

Thanks for putting it on AND for bugging me to submit something!
I've watched you for years and this latest vreationis GREAT .![
Nice classic board game collection!
4:54 I was about to be really upset you carved up the unique model from Jazza's art box, but I found he still sells the digital file on its own
Should never be upset about carving up models.

Any chance you know where that gas mask bit cane from? Its amazing
It looks like you had a lot of fun here!

The mini really reminds me of Trench Crusade 😃
If course diggin your work, but is the music different?
Black Magic Craft Miniatures! You tease! Lol. *Starts saving money
Sick
Love the final look!
Nice models ..pain the ass to actually find them ..not a bad price either really
That is awesome!! I hope you win!
Congratulations!

What kind of dystopian future this Homer Simpson comes from?
you need to give that little dude a dnd or pathfinder stat block and some gruesome horrific backstory
