I love this song but my personal theory is that she doesn’t know because she’s 1) kinda oblivious obviously but also b) she spent the majority of her life with minimal or no actual friends right? That also probably includes quite a few unrequited crushes and rejections, which would naturally come with confidence/self-worth issues. What if Luz has just internally convinced herself she’s unloveable and rationalizes away any signs that Amity has a crush on her because why on earth would a talented, beautiful, intelligent witch like Amity like Luz? the boring human who’s about as smooth as sandpaper and can’t even do magic properly? That’s just my theory though.
