easiest way for a reverse is to use an electric motor with a sprocket on the end and a 1 way clutch, then when you pop the engine in neutral or with the clutch in, you can engage the electric motor and make it turn the chain backwards, making the car move backwards, and it free spins the rest of the time....thats what ive done on cruiser motorcycle trike conversions in the past
Rich rebuilds does this in his hayabusa rabbit truck!
Add a small 'Flex-plate' and starter.It won't go back fast,but it'll easily move backward.
was thinking that too, the only other way is to run it through a gearbox like a quad but there is no room for t hat
Yeah I'm more leaning towards using a flex plate/ring gear not a sprocket

If there's room are you planning to do a foot clutch? Seems that'd be more fun as the total mini car driving experience. Awesome build, we've been waiting months to see this thing rip.
Apparently they're super hard to use and the biting point feels like an on off switch
Hand clutch is definitely the way to go. We used the same design for the most part in our racecars that were motorcycle powered. The biggest difference for us was the fact they were front engine and had a driveshaft going to the rear end.

Make the front the same width as the back. And maybe even moved forward a couple inches. The added wheelbase can't hurt something so short at higher speeds.

My Wife's Harley has a Motor Trike rear end. It uses a Harley starter on a ring gear on the rear axle. You might want to check that out for a reverse.
This is great man, and i think widening that front to match the rear will help with how squirrelly it is

One thing that's really important with motorcycle engined cars is that motorcycles don't experience sideways g forces in turns because they lean. The g forces from cornering in a car will cause oil to slosh away from the pickup and oil starve your engine. Superfast Matt found this out the hard way when he blew up his CBR engined Honda S600. He ended up making a full dry sump for his replacement engine, but you might be able to get away with an accusump.
I hate to sound like an old man but, you've already hit a house head on and broke your leg....when you're testing things, put a fucking helmet and a seatbelt on...c'mon man, wether you realize it or not, you're a role model for tons of younger kids watching this....please have some common sense....drag slicks, a wet road, an untested car, and no seat belt or helmet....plus you had someone in it with you...I'm done bitching, but someday you'll understand

Driving that matchbox without a skid lid is crazy. Doesn't matter if it has a roll cage. Your gonna bouncy of every surface in that thing if it doesn't stay shiny side up

you don't need the clutch when changing gears, just ease out the throttle a bit and pull it into gear. You only need the clutch when starting (and stopping)
one last thing you should relocate the clutch to the left side right behind the steering wheel. like attached to either the wheel itself or the mount
You should add a quickshifter! Save your clutch when shifting. It cuts either fuel or ignition or both.

For reverse you could add a second two speed gear box. One speed forward at 1:1 and second speed is reverse.

Rich rebuilds did a VW Caddy Busa swap and used an EV motor for reverse (and also additional power in fwd gears). Maybe you can hide a little one in there somewhere?

8:44 SuperFastMatt has a similar setup on his Honda S600 with a CBR 1000RR engine and seems to work fine.
Its pretty cool to see it moving on it's own power.

Nice job! I think a PC6 with a quick shift would be a nice upgrade. (Dynojet) Its an easy way to get cluthless shifts and you can set the rpm range for it to activate.
I noticed that misfire, but didn't know it was two cylinders. Good fix.

I wanted to love this, and it's a fun video, but I think it ends up looking like a Citicar front half just stuck onto another, larger, car. I know it's probably impossible, but imagine if the aftermarket parts weren't completely exposed, and it was a super sleeper cheese wedge, that would be the true build pinnacle.
Bro you should use a quick shifter. It will allow you to literally Shift without the clutch. The quick shifter attaches to the shift linkage
You dont need to use clutch when shifting only for starts and stops! Itll make your shifts way faster. Just let off the throttle barely when shifting

Awesome build. Though If I remember correctly, your oil pick up in the pan wont work correctly in a car as the engine stays vertical in curves now. It may make the engine run dry
No need to pull the clutch for shifting up (and down). Use the sequential gearbox how it was intended to use. Just lift the throttle a bit on the upshifts.
Starter used like idler pulley on drive chain with a sprocket that ratchets one way like a bicycles rear sprocket.
That thing is sick! You should consider puting a taller shift lever in. It seema little low. Awesome!
