Comment your favorite Monster Cereal/Normie Cereal! For me, it’s a tie between Yummy Mummy and Count Chocula. Maybe CC has a slight edge- because of the nose 😏
So freaking good dude. But I've never seen anything other than freaking good from you. Glad the doctor says things are looking up! Also, what do you do with the water-based clay sculptures? I know you can't fire it with that armature inside.
Thanks bro! For this clay particularly, you just let it dry out. It takes a long time to fully dry out even if left untouched but if you wrap it up with plastic, it can keep for weeks especially if you unwrap and spray it down every day or so. Really, you would want to mold it for a few reasons. The surface changes a little bit once it’s fully dry, it can crack unpredictably, it’s extremely brittle once dry, and it’s also super heavy so moving it sucks and pieces tend to break off even when you’re careful because of the brittleness. That said, you can mitigate the cracks by removing the armature which requires some forethought. It’s really best for larger pieces too because it’s very soft. So much fun tho! Definitely a quality material. As far as what I do, either trash, give away, or recycle if I’m quick enough. I don’t really tend to take a lot of time sculpting in wed, for these videos, they’ve all been fast sculpts so, I’m not really attached to any of them. If you have any questions about working with it, hit me up any time! One last thing I will say is it can be messy when your work area dries overnight. You’ll have tons of little bits that turn into dust and no bueno to breathe in!
You do a lot of self-deprecating jabs for being a sculptor, but dude, your skills with clay is a true gift. As a creature designer and sculptor myself, I see your work as a thing of great inspiration. Please don't ever look at what you do as something to to be mocked or thought less of. What you do is important and wonderful.
Thank you! 💪 Yeah i love all these character pretty equally to be honest. I didn’t think as many people would know Frute Brute so I went with one of the most popular. I actually made a small 4 inch yummy mummy for my brother maybe 17-18 years ago I should get some pics. It was a very early sculpt of mine.
I dont do sculpting or any form of classic art, but I would happily watch you work for the rest of my life. Thank you for this channel and all your work!
Ahhh this is so awesome Chris! I love all the iterations and it came out looking like something right out of a retro horror house. The light spray paint at the end is * *chefs kiss* *🧛🏻♂
Right?! The mascots are a missed opportunity man. Especially if you watch the vintage commercials. I would have loved a cartoon of those characters. More figures and stuff too- there’s not a lot of good ones that aren’t like funko pops
Man, this is proof as to why you are still my sculpt-inspiring hero! You are a MASTER of your mud-pushing craft and i hope to become as good at it as you one day. The help you gave me on a sculpt through Discord a couple years ago is still my most valuable instruction I’ve EVER recieved in ANY art class I’ve ever taken high school or college 🙏🏻 thank you for all that you do!
Incredibly underrated number of views. I love your videos and sculpts, and this one was no different. Excellent work as always brother and keep up the good vibes. Until the next one.
Genius work good sir. Glad to hear the health is on the up and up. As for my favorite cereal monster: Frankenberry, he seems unmonster-like. As if he was cursed with a grotesque physique, but has the gentleness of a butterfly. He's so misunderstood...😢
I’m vacillating between Jimmy Stewart, or Reagan, playing Grandpa on, “The Munsters”! I wish I could point you towards a video, made about a late friend of mine, Martha Armstrong Hand, who was the Lead Sculptor at Mattell for 18 years, and sculpted all the cartoon characters, for Viewmaster, but I don’t think it’s online…you’d appreciate what she had to say.
Glad you're feeling better every day bud. I miss old Count Chocula. It's so different now. It just tastes cheap. Old Count Chocula and Cinnamon Life is where it's at.
You name dropped Majin Vegeta so. . . Actually any of the Saiyan characters would probably be more boring to sculpt on account of being 50% crazy hair. But Frieza or Cell or Piccolo could be really cool.
There’s a bunch of dbz characters i’d love to do. Agreed on your choices- I’d love to do evil buu (the skinny gray one) Roshi, Dabura, Hercule, there so many lol. One day! Maybe I’ll do a poll and have people vote.
Stellar work. You actually inspired me to start using NSP clay and I one time, I was actually thinking of doing a Boris Karloff Franken Berry but it didn't work out. Also, I am curious why you made the switch to water-based clay. Is it easier to work with or did you just want to switch things up?
Oh I always thought a universal monsters crossover would be cool! I use pretty much every material it’s just kind of what I’m feeling up to for a given project- if I just want to do something fast, loose, and big, I use wed clay. If I need more precision and detail, I use Chavant, if I need ultra precision for commercial work or a smaller figure, I use wax or Castilene, if I want to do a one off, in color and not deal with molding, I’ll use sculpey or epoxy. But yeah, it’s also fun to switch things up.
I really like that "unfinished" look at the bottom! Also, do you keep your sculpts and have them decorating your house or do you sell/give them to others?
Thanks! I like that too. I’m so used to having everything perfect from years of commercial sculpting it’s fun to leave things loose. Sometimes I recycle the clay, i’ve given some away, and threw away others. I don’t sell any originals for various reasons but Ive thought about it lol. It would be near impossible to ship these large water based clay sculpts anyway but I have a bunch of oil based ones that would survive.
I’m 51. Never had heart issues at all or diabetes or any minor health issues. I haven’t wanted to nor eaten cereal in 30 years because I realized it’s eating pure sugar for no reason. Maybe that’s helped me. 🤷🏼♂️
Thank you, sir! I decided on it last minute. I wasn’t feeling any Halloween projects this year strangely enough but I thought this might be quick and easy. Well, the sculpt was but that edit pulled the rug out from under me lol. Just kept running into issues with my pc and it felt like it was never ending so what was supposed to be a quick project, turned into a much longer one.
Thank you! I LOVED Frankenberry as a kid but had a bad experience with some Hershey’s Strawberry milk syrup so it didn’t ruin anything for me but put FB in a distant third lol. The sculpt was like 10 ish hours if I don’t include the building of the armature or camera work. I would have been done faster but I tried a couple of different looks before committing to one. I actually sculpted him like three times and just scraped off the face before deciding lol -in hindsight, I should have filmed all of that but it wasn’t anything worth showing, just some ultra quick sketching. The edit was a massive headache due to pc problems tho. Many more than 10 hours there lol. Just the stupid export took 6 before I figured that out.
That was actually the third or fourth thing I ever sculpted. I still have it. Would love to do some more DBZ stuff someday! Really want to do Roshi, or one of the Buu’s of course Vegeta would be cool too!
The Count looks great! As for normie cereals: Captain Crunch with Crunch Berries, Cinnamon Life, Rice Chex, and the best cereal ever imo, Cracklin' Oat Bran.
@@SculptureGeek Nah, I'm getting to the age where I have really go easy on the junk food. When I was a kid and Boo-Berries were readily available, it was my favorite, but in the area I grew up in it all but disappeared.

In México we had a big size Elephant that eventually within the years become into a Super Hi-Tech Spy. The cereal is called ChocoKrispis
frankenberry for me! this sculpt is awesome man!!!
Boo Berry all the way.
I like to mix the Count Chocula and the Frankenberry.
That sounds awesome! Lol!

Thank you! Yeah I just try not to take things too seriously. It’s more about trying to get a laugh and brighten someone’s day. We need art 💚
Looking lean and mean SG, incredible work as always, bringing Frute brute to life would make a cool duo.

Awesome sculpt! Back in the day I was a huge Flintstones fan, so Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles were my jam. I also loved Cinnamon/French Toast Crunch.
haha cereal twinsies man. Fruity Pebbles 🤤 I could eat that whole box in one sitting lol

Count Chocula and The Count both get the blame (or credit) for over 40 years of vampire love from me. 😂 Thanks, Counts!
