- Development of the first Porsche 911 hybrid completed successfully
Porsche is set to revolutionize its iconic 911 sports car by introducing its first road-going model equipped with a hybrid drive, marking a significant evolution in the model's 61-year history. Frank Moser, Vice President of the Model Line 911 and 718, announced that the performance-focused hybrid drive enhances the dynamism of the 911, underscoring the comprehensive global testing regimen that spanned over five million kilometers. This rigorous testing, conducted under diverse and extreme conditions from the frigid temperatures to the intense heat of Dubai, ensured the new 911 is well-prepared for any driving challenge, from high-altitude mountain passes to urban stop-and-go traffic.
In performance tests, the new hybrid 911 notably outpaced its predecessor on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, a track renowned for its demanding nature and crucial to the development of the 911 series. Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister drove the new model around the circuit in 7:16.934 minutes, cutting the time of the previous model by 8.7 seconds. This impressive improvement was aided by the vehicle's enhanced grip, increased power, and the responsive nature of the hybrid system, highlighting significant advancements in speed and performance.
The introduction of the hybrid drive in the new Porsche 911 represents a leap forward in both performance and environmental considerations, aligning with Porsche's commitment to innovation. With its faster track time and rigorous testing across various challenging environments, the new 911 hybrid is poised to set a new standard for sports cars, combining traditional Porsche power and precision with modern, sustainable technology.

Even 918 is a plug-in-hybrid supercar but hybrid cars are great for both performance & fuel efficency. Porsche should release a hybrid GT2RS(992) as a rival to SF90 and develop a hybrid V8 supercar with a mixture of 918 & SF90 design.
yeah we need a 992 gt2 (rs)
The 296 GTB is a plug-in hybrid and it's absolutely amazing. I think the 911 going hybrid will be just fine.
Not really. I have a 911s 992.1 I was going to upgrade to a turbo s in two years. If this engine somehow filters up to this model I will spend my money elsewhere.
I will not purchase a hybrid 911. Never.
296 and sf90 dont sell, its pretty bad
I saw an SF90 at Cars n Coffee in Bethesda, Maryland two weeks ago. A red 296 was at Hunt Valley, Maryland this past weekend. I don’t think it was coincidence. The east coast may get decent allocations.
These reminded me of the villains Porsches from condor man! 👍🏻😀
Hybrid is good 918 Spyder proved it.
Just don't go full electric atleast for 911.
When do brands finally realize that the average customer doesnt want to give up emotion for performance. We dont give a damn about any alien technology that desperately tries to make it 0,005 seconds faster on any race track. We want a car that creates emotion, is fun to drive on a day to day basis and doesnt cost almost 50% of the buying price when a single electronical component breaks after 20k kilometers (not even speaking of waiting 2 months for the component to arrive). I dont want a car that is losing its value faster than the money in my savings account just because it has the durability of a yoghurt.
Well said!
I have a 911S 992.1 it’s a wonderful machine and my second 911.
It looks like 992.1 owners are going to own the last full petrol generation 911.
I was thinking about trading my S in two years for a turbo s but if this unfortunate “trend” persists throughout the 911 range I will take my cash elsewhere.
I agree, but unfortunately car manufacturers also have to produce what sells to the masses, and if a Porsche begins slipping in performance relative to other brands, customers may stop buying. So they are stuck making every iteration faster at the expense of feel. Also, on a side note, this hybrid, though it is said to be for performance, is actually for compliance and emissions regulations. It will likely be naturally aspirated with the hybrid system to get same or better performance. But for compliance regulations, there would be no hybrid.
@@anonymoushuman8962 dear Sir, im friends with two mechanics at a famous Porsche tuning company here in Germany. Based on what they told me: please never ever sell that machine. 992.1 has one of the most robust and long living engines they ever made. Its stability also makes it a perfect candidate for insane amounts of horsepower after tuning without losing much durability.
Congratulations to your beast! Im sticking with my 991.2 carrera 4S drop top.
Love how it demands attention.
I hope the whole front dashboard has got some some over haul same like taycan
HP...?
Just keep GT3 4.0 without any electrified support
Guess no more manuals
No Hybrid for the 911 🙏
hybrids are dope when done right
the full electric care a joke atm
Finally. Hope to see the non hybrid version coming to an end
hilarious
Listen boys, we all know the 911 ain’t going anywhere, if this comes out it will be a separate car from the main 911. Porsche will never go electric for the 911. The max they will do is switch out to hybrid and that’s ok, it still has a engine and makes lots of noise, it just has a motet somewhere now
Never say never. They're just doing that to the smaller cars. The GT cars will remain with an ICE but if they've just chosen to electrify the most driver's cars in their lineup, why wouldn't they do it to the 911? I think it's just a matter of time until we'll be upgrading the speakers in our exhaust and uploading GT3 engine noise into the infotainment system. We're just not ready for it yet.
False. This isn’t a separate model. They’ve merely baked a mildly hybrid system into the existing flat-six architecture. It’s very subtle. Which makes sense for the 911.
For anyone wondering, the official release of the 992.2 PORSCHE 911 has been confirmed for the 28th May 2024 - expected at 1PM BST
Great news!
Where ?
I don’t think we want electric 911 , please keep the legacy for ever
Ugh, better hurry up and buy a conventional one before the aftermarket skyrockets again.
Weight is going to spoil this car, and people will be too dazzled by the 0-60 times to care
It would be nice if Porsche engineers would add a bit more sportiness and driver's car fun into the formula of the 911 turbo S. It is funny how such a capable and fast car became so boring and uninteresting to drive.
Aucune connaissance de la 911 et de son histoire
What????
No allocation 😂
0-100 faster than a 911Turbo.. 👍🏼
Nope, it's the 911 carrera prototype, it won't be faster for at least 0.2 sec + it's not tested yet 👍
I don’t accept the premise 911 and hybrid in the title.
It’s just WRONG.
Too clinical. I'll take my alfa 4c all day long
No Please!! Noooo!!! Stay away from electricity you evil people!!
Calm down, genius
918 had an electric motor . Where were you 😅😅😅
Its not a hybrid it only has electrified turbos.
@@KHD1982 Sell it and get two Gt3rs wow!
@mcdril5076 Good for you ...
@@KHD1982 It is good its faster and superior to a 992 gen.
Remove all the music sound effects and remix the video with engine sounds and I’ll watch it.
911 hybrid???😢😢😢
Please make 911 ev..we now at 2024 must move on from rubbish NA v8 for better environment
Tell me you're not a car guy without telling me you're not a car guy.
Is this sarcastic
average tesla owner :
Switch to an EV, Eco-friendly is a SCAM
and for better performance too. Outside the single hour on the track, living with a loud engine behind your neck is SHIT
Hybrid should has 4 cilenders engine 2.5L 365hp from Boxter gts to get lower weight
