great video thanks, i use a citric wash myself. i saw your other video on the proper % of caustic but i'd like to more know more if you ever have the time, about using conductivity to measure the caustic solution with a dedicated conductivity tester.
Sanitiser is normally an acid. I occasionally follow a caustic with an acid wash but only if the tank has been contaminated with a foreign micro-organism. I call it a "nuke it from orbit" CIP but generally it's called a "remedial CIP"
Hendo you’re an absolute rockstar for making those videos.
* flicks hair * Thanks heaps for watching!
Great tip!
CIP SOP now updated to include this test. Even though my brewery isn't even up and running yet....
Thanks Hendo

Ed - this is a fantastic idea for a future video - thanks for watching!
Thanks, I always thought that a normal procedure is to do an acid CIP directly after a caustic one, which seems wasteful for both chemicals.

What type of yeast need oxygen for fermentation and what type of oxygen don't need oxygen for fermentation
Liquid yeast needs oxygen but dry yeast does not. Thanks for watching!
Hi Hendo, does it matter what % solution Phenolphthalein is used? I see 0.5%, 1% and 2% solutions online. Cheers.
Great question! Typically, it's 1%.
