Random questions answered in order: 1. The plot of the anime has no direct relation to the plot of the game, but it does take place in the same city a couple years prior. The animators lifted locations from the game specifically and you can go visit in game many places highlighted in the show. 2. They can't damage him because of his Subdermal Armor cybernetic implant. It's like a layer of steel that gets grafted to your body underneath your skin. 3. You can very much build a character that functions a lot like that in the game. A high Body, high Reflex, and high Technical build with a focus on ranged Assault Rifles and/or Submachine guns with a Sandevistan implant--either the Militech Apogee for damage boost or the QianT Warp Dancer for increased defense would be the best choice for this build.
This anime is a must watch in English. People in chat complaining about Dub are braindead : NightCity is in California, people who watched Edgerunners in Japanese missed Davids latino references in dialogues, slang and Tyger Claws yelling random japanese stuff has no sense in japanese.
The cyberpunk anime and Arcane series came out of nowhere roughly around the same time, both of them are 10/10. Amazing animation, stories, characters. I know Arcane is getting a second season which I'm excited for, but I think Cyberpunk might be over with there. I kind of want a second season, but David's story was wrapped up nicely it almost feels like it'd cheapen the first season if they somehow make a second season.
David's gang is not the only gang in night city. There are multiple other crew's and gangs that can be introduced. Night city is massive lore wise. They could even go back and tell the story of the original cyberpunk tabletop game that started it all in the 80's, which CD projekt Red took inspiration from. Hell, they could even leave night city and show some other dystopian town in the cyberpunk universe.
My favorite show to come out last year. So punchy in everything it does while still leaving a lasting impression. Balls to the wall from start to finish it captures the cyberpunk storytelling style arguably better than the game does.

The Dub is the definitive version. Get over it.
all those "animes" are just trendy stuff tbh. yeah they put good graphics(thats the default expectation for 2020s) and some cool stuff, but in the end it lacks the spirit. with other animes like Trigun, Casshern Sins or Bubblegum Crisis around, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have that much of a impression to me.
Best anime of 2022, I had other stuff for my "best of the year", but after I saw the cyberpunk one, yeah, clear 10/10 (it topped everything else I had planned for "best" from the entire year). And by everything, I mean it topped stuff like: - Made in Abyss S2 (ptsd simulator, in a hole) - Chainsaw Man - Overlord S4 - Summertime Render - Eminence in Shadow The game in comparison however, even now with Phantom Liberty is only a 6/10 for me (might change in the future), it feels only slight above average (which unfortunately is now a low bar, because of all game studios trying to make the average as low effort as possible).

Words cant describe how jealous i am of Asmon getting to experience this for the first time, i would do tings for more edgerunners styled animes

I found out about through his stream today too, lol. I'll watch it but i hope its not too "anime" and more cyberpunk. 😂

Watch the mans excitement change into tears after the show
If it wasnt for the anime i dont think cyberpunk 2077 would have gotten the attention it deserved. So glad it did.
Being part of Maxtac like in the og Cyberpunk trailer is part of what made me excited about it. Shame that's not actually the case.
Dude, this anime is so popular, it managed to revive the game.
for casuals
It made me care about the game again, would have never played the DLC otherwise. Which I'm glad I did since its better than the main game.
Chat is dumb lol. They didn't know that the Eng Dub is WAY superior than the JP Dub. All the Eng voices are amazing. Especially my gurl Lucy. Also Giancarlo Espacito? SHEESH
Poor Arcane lol, sunk to the bottom of Asmons watch list never to emerge.
not worth the viewing anyway
Asmon definitely wouldnt be able to get through Arcane. Its amazing (better plot and writing than Edgerunners) but its slow and methodical.
@@aytony4090Arcane is slow? Damn zoomers and their ADHD brains.
Edgerunners was unironically the anime of the year.
I’m loving the “Discovering cyberpunk isn’t shit” arc he’s going on. Every time it’s like “Huh, maybe I *should* play / watch this…”
It never was shit, but it did have it's issues. Played it on PC a bit after release still being 1.0
Personally I did not encounter that many bugs, mostly some performance issues some of which was probably due to the aging CPU I was using.
@_NekOz It wasn't shit for *you.* I love Cyberpunk and i'm currently replaying it but let's not act as if 1.0 was good. Personally i encountered several game-breaking bugs that softlocked me out of several important missions that made me have to restart and do everything over again. The state it's in now is how it should have been from the start. The game is great now, not perfect but certainly 10x better than 1.0 was and for 2.0 i'd say the game is a flawed masterpiece.
@@Foogi9000 Oh yeah, the game did have it's *issues* as I mentioned. I *personally* did not experience many bugs while playing which is probably down to luck.
@@Foogi9000you read the comment then proceed to ignore the key words In said comment then bash him for the very thing he made VERY clear 🤦🏻♂️
definitely deserved anime of the year
Cyberpunk anime is lowkey top 10 of all time. Amazing world and top notch story brought together with a unique art style. Made me play through the game a second time lol
Random questions answered in order:
Yup, the dub sounds straight from the game and uses the in-world slang and mannerisms
You really expect weebs to not complain about dub at any point possible. It's their entire personality.
isn't the english version? why's everyone calling that the dub instead of the japanese version?
The anime was surprisingly well written didn't expected that from game adaptation, plus the music and animation was banger
I mean it was written by CDPR writers
This anime made me forgive for what they did to Cyberpunk 2077 back then.
My favorite show to come out last year. So punchy in everything it does while still leaving a lasting impression. Balls to the wall from start to finish it captures the cyberpunk storytelling style arguably better than the game does.
bro this anime literally revived the game how have you not seen it
for casuals
"bro this show revived the game you didn't care about until now, how have you not heard of the show for the game you didn't care about???" hmmmm i wonder.. :D
The cool thing is that you can search on the game places from the anime like Jessica's appartment and stuff like that.
Talk about late to the party
Can't wait if he does, everytime Rosa Walton's song play in the background after that - I want to see his reaction
This is one of the few shows I like better dubbed. L chat take.
David sounds gay in English
@@Runter_Official I disagree, but you do you.
@@sir.mannington lol
@@Runter_Official Whether or not he sounds gay or not. Everyone speaking 1 language in Cyberpunk 2077 is Clunky asf. Also it's weird because Bro is Latino and same with his Mom. you want them to be pulling out all of these weird japanese-isms when that doesn't as exist that much outside of say Arasaka and small parts of Japantown?
The Dub is the definitive version. Get over it.
@@TallicaMan1986 fym get over it, you see me breaking down and crying about it???
Studio Trigger is awesome
all those "animes" are just trendy stuff tbh. yeah they put good graphics(thats the default expectation for 2020s) and some cool stuff, but in the end it lacks the spirit.
with other animes like Trigun, Casshern Sins or Bubblegum Crisis around, Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have that much of a impression to me.
2:31 looks awesome
Best anime of 2022, I had other stuff for my "best of the year", but after I saw the cyberpunk one, yeah, clear 10/10 (it topped everything else I had planned for "best" from the entire year).
And by everything, I mean it topped stuff like:
- Made in Abyss S2 (ptsd simulator, in a hole)
- Chainsaw Man
- Overlord S4
- Summertime Render
- Eminence in Shadow
The game in comparison however, even now with Phantom Liberty is only a 6/10 for me (might change in the future), it feels only slight above average (which unfortunately is now a low bar, because of all game studios trying to make the average as low effort as possible).
Yes! Cyberpunk: Edgerunners?! Fuck yea!! Was quite a banger, even for a American-ish anime.
edgerunners was great, the music story characters and atmosphere were just amazing. best thing netflix put out in years.
The way your face lights up when the cop took the shotgun to the face is priceless lmao 😂
Everything you see in the anime, location-wise, can be found within the game. So cool.
Asmon: ...so cyberpunk has an anime

Even fully geared and max stats ingame, maxtac is still pretty difficult to fight. The most ive taken out unmodded is about 8 squads before dying.
