Hey Food Box HQ Family! Today we're unboxing, cooking, and taste testing RealEats. We've received a few requests for us to review this box so I was excited to check them out. Also, they were kind enough to send us this box to share our thoughts with you guys :).
RealEats is a pre-made, pre-cooked meal delivery service that sends their meals to you fresh. All you have to do is "cook" them by boiling them in water. Sounds strange but it actually works really well. It's kind of like sous vide cooking.

I've been a Realeats subscriber for about one year. I also subscribed to another meal service in the past for more than a year. Your review of Realeats is fair and accurate in my opinion. The ease of tossing those little plastic Realeats bags into boiling water to reheat for 3 to 6 minutes versus prepping all the various ingredients from the other company was considerable. Another difference is the volume of shipping materials . Realeats uses far less for sure, but much cardboard, paper, plastic, and insulating material is involved in all of these meal services. You can only keep or give away to friends so many of those freezer packs. I used to use Realeats insulation materials in my garden to keep diwn the weeds, but they changed to materials that are very clean, but not recyclable. The best thing about Realeats for me is that they offer fish and shrimp, and a particular juice drink of which I've grown quite fond, plus other yummy extras like local farm-made blue cheese, and even a seasonally available smoked duck breast, and breakfast items. If I change to another meal service it will not be because I've been displeased, but rather just to try another of the many companies advertised.

Nice job. It would help if in your intro or in your description you mentioned that it is not offered in all states.
Were you able to detect any plastic taste? Are any of the foods organic?
I’ve tried Hello Fresh, Freshly, Home Chef and now I’m trying Real Eats, out of all the other I’ve tried, Hello Fresh is my favorite but the recipes don’t change much and I’m sort of dissatisfied by now, I will come back to let you know my rating in Real Eats. Are the plans recurring? Do you get the same meals each week? I’m not very good at cooking so this would be great for me.
They are recurring and you can pick anything you like in your box each week.

Would you recommend this or freshly?
If you want the most variety (including breakfast options) RealEats is better. If you want the most convenient option (microwave cooking) and only really care about lunch/dinner, Freshly is a great option.

Hmm, tough question! I love Factor for their convenience, delicious/healthy meals, and add ons. But RealEats also has similar qualities and I also really enjoy their meals. If you were looking to stick to keto or a high-protein / low-carb diet, I'd say go for Factor.

why couldn't these just be microwaved? You could open that packages and microwave them then couldn't you?
Yep, you can microwave them. They have microwave instructions on the packaging. Heating them in water tends to "cook" them more thoroughly though, from my experience.
They don’t ship to the Silicon Valley - too bad this is where all the money is, except my bank account. Lol
