WHY the HELL aren't more people viewing this thing????? It's so accurate well-researched and interesting. I met Janis Joplin in Barneys's in 1967. I spent most of my lurid late teens and early twenties there. It's part of Hollywood's heritage like the Derby, still is. GO SEE. :)
Some of my Happiest Memories with my Greatest Friends were at Barney's Beanery from 2011-2014 when I lived in NY but commuted to work every single week to Los Angeles. Whether it was Trivia, Karaoke or Friday Night, it was FANTASTIC. A Honey Brew & a cup of Barney's Chili. Pure Heaven. Miss it So MUCH! 🍺
This is very well done. Spent a LOT of time at Barney's Beanery in my 20s... was pretty bummed when they went corporate/ franchised/ remodeled. But they can't kill the spirit. The saying "If these walls could talk", has never had more meaning than with Barney's. Almost 100 years as Hollywood's PREMIER dive bar!
My buddy Mick sat at the bar with a huge hangover. This guy next to him ordered a drink to fix him right. “ Drink this he said”. Mick did. The guy Cesar Romero
This was my favorite spot to go drinking after work unfortunately I no longer drink man I miss this place plenty of drunken nights at Barney's Beanery... :-)
Been there a few times. I could not afford it but had a great friend who covered me. Sadly he passed away in 2013 so I did a Pay it forward locally in his honor. Many great memories.
I used to live in Hollywood and a large group of us would always go there for breakfast, and later beer on Friday and Saturday nights. Not all the time, but very often. I don't remember or like all of the flat-screens! Yikes! Those really seem to take away from the specialness of this place. Other than that, it looks the same and that is fabulous!
Hard to believe they didn't mention the famous album cover that introduced Barney's Beanery to thousands of young people east of L.A., Turtle Blues "Vibes" Courtesy of...
If you are straight , this is the bar/restaurant for you. Barney's Beanery is a wonderful heterosexual refuge in the depressing gay ghetto of West Hollywood.

Great memories live there. Great video.
I saw Peter Fonda there in 85!
I've been to Barney's, many times
Seems like one of those "If the walls could talk" places. I've visited LA a few times but I missed out on that place.

Best Cali burger I’ve ever eaten came from this kitchen.
Ha. Nick covering his face from the camera.
Janis wasn't partying at Barney's night before she died.. she came in looking for someone talked to Casey the bar tender.. then left..
I wrote a ton of lyrics and poems sitting right next to the juke box for songs and a poetry album too. Good times. Met many ladies. too.
I've been there, sat right where they filmed from. The bartender looked over and promptly shattered a whack of glasses. Hahaha.
I think they should install some more tvs
Went there once in 2012. Cool place full of history. Food was not that great but I was not there to really dine, I was there for the history.
TURTLE BLUES BY BIG BROTHER AND THE HOLDING COMPANY Janis Joplin carved in the wood
I had no idea of the extent of the Hollywood history of celebrities attending this bar or the history of the homophobic sign.
