The Knack kicked ass and never got recognized for the awesome musicians they were. No band was as tight and together like they were. Their songs sounded simple but were not when it came to perfecting their sound! great post!

"No band was as tight and together like they were."
Seriously? These guys are a great sound and fun times... but, that era was filled with bands fitting your statement.
Sadly, it seems an era with lot of great bands, getting lost in the shuffle.

@@Dgggless Then you have never seen them in concert. Whether it was when they in their prime or 20 years later, they were an unbelievably good band--musically "tight" and professional in their musicianship. They were a much better band than their contemporaries. Their first two albums were recorded live in the studio with very little overdubbing. You would have to have seen them live to realize how good they actually were.

Yours is a very astute analysis of the band.
I was working at a big chain record store (a nearly by-gone entity, these days) when The Knack broke out! They were HUGE and we sold a ton of the records and even more 45's ( all you young 'uns who are clueless can Google
"45 rpm")! They were even hailed as "The Next Beatles",
Well, THAT never came to pass, but EVERY song on 'Get The Knack" is awesome...great lead vocal, tight harmonies. wailing guitars and a driving beat. Cool!

the phony fake music media press tried to destroy The Knack..and they failed...The Knack's music remains just as solid as it was released.. and has aged beatifically with it's kick ass power pop...i was so lucky to see The Knack live in Melbourne, Australia at Bombay Rock in 1979 when their single was no1 in the USA charts, my first ever rock gig how cool was that?!. I adore But The Little Girls Understand...so many brilliant tunes like I Want Ya & The Feeling I Get..How Can Love Hurt So Much..Mr Handleman.etc....years later i would interview Berton Averre and we spoke about how vitriolic the press of the day was to The Knack...the interview is available on my channel if you want to hear it..thanks for the post Knack Fan...

These guys looked like four upperclassmen from the Alpha Epsilon Pi house at the University of Illinois circa 1980. Such a pity that cancer got both Mr. Fieger and Mr. Gary, both apparently leaving no wives or children. Their lyrics were frequently not acceptable, but they prided themselves on their musicianship and BOY could they blow away anyone I'm hearing in that department in American music today.
