The only thing I don't like about modern Toyota forklifts is the seatbelt gets stuck on nearly every model. Such a big issue with a small cheap part.
Some forklifts have had them replaced multiple times a year.

From what I observed, Toyota does not emphasize much on safety issues. Propel work at shop floor handling heavy/ sharp parts with no PPEs.
Imagine how much better and cheaper boats would be if Toyota got into the Marine business...OMG

I’m not an expert, but I do have some TPS experience. Are you asking why TPS delivers parts in individually or in small batches based on “Just in Time” principles, or why manufacturers use parts that come from outside supplier facilities?
I can't speak to Toyota forklifts; but let me address Toyota cars. The sunroof of the Camry Hybrid, SE, XLE comes from some outside supplier. I've found out from around the internet that the dash pieces come from an additional 4 suppliers. Your Toyota won't reach 60,000 miles without interior rattles.
Apparently that business school philosophy is to be as lean and penny pinching as possible during production; then let your customers visit their respective Toyota dealer service departments to have one of several TSBs performed.
I am the owner of a 2011 Camry hybrid (thankfully used and discounted) and my wife has a 2015 Prius C. Both have piss poor interior quality.
There is probably many factors at play here and I imagine the company is constantly crunching the numbers to determine what should be outsourced and what might make good business sense to start making internally. In another Toyota video I watched they did a lot of things internally and thus their building was absolutely massive. So I imagine one of the factors is is there enough skilled workers at the location where they have enough space to expand to build a lot of these things internally. Another factor might be that other plants need the same parts so they choose a facility that is centrally located for instance. I'm sure there is a dozen more factors.

Toyota does very well at eliminating waste, etc. But their video says "decrease of total elimination of waste" instead of decrease OR total elimination of waste. Maybe they could use someone to quality check the video?

Excuse me Mr. TOYOTA. This video is plenty of unsafety and un-ergonomic operators positions. There is a brutal lack-of order, 5s, visual management and good logistics feeding examples. I think it's a wrong video to explain what LEAN is. Please delete it. Thanks
