So many of these ideas are awesome. I recently moved from a house to a very tiny condo. I donated much of my belongings in order to keep my mom's belongings. My mom passed away a few months ago. I was overwhelmed packing up a huge house of 31 years but it had to s of closet space. Now I am in a tiny condo with not much closet space. I am in a sea of boxes and large heafty bags with all my dresses, skirts and blouses on hangers in the heafty bags. The day I moved here it rained the entire day but the clothes stayed dry. I told my boyfriend tonight I am overwhelmed and do not know where to start. I work long hours at work and come home with little energy. I've never seen so many brightly colored books. Storing books by color makes the book you want harder to find. Packed shelves and closets are packed. Best to donate what you don't need.

For #15 Declutter Visually by Going Neutral, you can just turn all the books around with all the pages facing out and it will all be around the same color. Thus saving you hours of time and money instead of individually wrapping each book.
How do you reuse old greeting cards?? Do you cross out Dear Joe, and add “Dear Sally”. Do you cross out happy birthday and write happy anniversary? LOL

I think you're supposed to write the titles on the binder in the same color/size Ink. Be nice if you know calligraphy or have extremely beautiful hand-writing...but most people don't.

NATE BERKUS: Noticed on a recent show that he reversed the books (backwards on shelf = cream paper colour) in a library reno so that when "staged" for the reveal for the client, it was non-distracting. Quick, no cost, temporary fix!

Even in a sizable house, I've found end and coffee tables with drawers are a big improvement over plain tables. Sometimes, night stands (with drawers) can be used as end tables, all depends on the style. I have an extra closet rod that doubles my hanging space. Hope this helps.

Katie Kaboom- Instead of putting your tv on a plain stand, use a dresser. On one drawer I removed the front and put my dvd player and the Wii for the grandkids. One drawer holds all my candles and wax-melts. The other 3 drawers hold all my dvds and blue rays. I have a taller dresser in a corner, it holds all the extra blankets and the throw pillows. My coffee table top actually raises up and has storage . Thrift stores are a great place to buy dressers. For a side table next to the bed, I bought wooden filing cabinets. Think outside of the box and you will find many answers. This isn't mine, but similar. Just try to get things that are multifunctional. My sister designed my dream bedroom with drawers under bed and at headboard, ottomans that open, etc. challenging at first but then everything had a place and it was magical😁
I like the idea of refurbishing and reusing. I really do. But some of these ideas are just a waste of time if your also a junk "Out of site, out of mind type." If that makes sense. I want to make shelves out of the clutter I'm trying to conceal makes no sense. I do like the ideas but organizing and still have clutter is what I saw. A couple good ideas in there and I do like learning about new ways to do things. I have tried a couple of these ideas, like the belt shelf, Nooo. Just no. lol But tin can and book camo good ideas to a point. Thanx

I know this is an old comment but I still disagree. I have many books I have read a gazilluon times so aren't in current rotation but on display look messy or all black with white lettered spines. Wrapping in pretty paper protects covers and my displays on shelves are cute but books are still ready to be read!!
Some cute ideas. However, please don't upcycle vintage suitcases that entails destroying them. These are part of the past and fads will come and go (chalkpaint, legs on everything etc 🙄). Don't upcycle them to a point of no return...once you do they lose their value. I'm positive the younger generations will find this out the hard way.

Thats the same problem i have. My apartment is 320 sq feet for 3 people. So I get a good laugh at what people call small spaces.
