Here in my country Argentina some kids from Bs As traveled to London in '77 and they met all the punk scene of the moment ... when they returned it seemed that a time machine brought them to the past ... everything was very backward in South America ... the Folk-Rock of dissident Hippies against the military dictatorship of Videla still resounded ... so, soaked in the British youth movement, an underground movement began that later years later would explode, but by the time that happened there was already democracy and the New Wave prevailed in the world.
There was one of these vids from 1977, on Kinolibrary until recently, which ended with a punk being searched by the police for a blade. It always appeared if you searched 'Punks on the Kings Road 1977. I don't suppose anyone knows where it is anymore because I'm the kid with the glasses smiling knowingly at the camera ( it was an Aussie TV crew with a massive camera on the camera mans shoulder) in the last few frames Would love to see it again.
Some of them could have easily been hippies if they were around in the 60s. I've never liked the whole rift between Punks vs Hippies, they were both against the establishment and if anything, the hippies did more to make their voices heard, and were very opposed to war and corruption. To be fair, there were lots of shit hippy bands, talking crap about rainy day mushroom pillows and peach fuzz forests and all that shit, but bands like Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead were amazing, and top class artists, and sang about life and the truth and love; i could be wrong, but love wasn't the main message of the punks. Those two so called hippy bands had dedicated fans who knew they were good and their music meant so much to them and still does, and they're two of my favorite bands, and that stuff was far from rubbish, but then i like the Sex Pistols, they just gave it some bollocks and made other bands at the time seem boring, Johns sour yet brilliant lyrics and very impressive guitar riffs from Jonesey who basically only picked it up not long before they formed. I can easily listen to the Greateful Dead one day and the next day i'm in another mood and i want some Sex Pistols. Good bands produce good music that makes people happy, simple as that.
Listening to the garbage that passes for music now, plus the addiction to computers, devices, mobile phones and memes its som ewhat gratifying to have UTUBE i have to say-if a bit two faced.I got into this subculture Summer of 1976 and it still defines my life at 63,both the way I dress and think.AND ITS STILL ALIVE,ROLL ON MORECAMBE IN NOVEMBER AND DUNOON NEXT MAY-PUNK AINT DEAD!!!
The punks in the late 70s were so ahead of their time with their style. They look like they could easily fit in with alternative communities today.
oh. a KPOP fan.
70s
1970- 1977 april: 🥳😃😄😆🥰
May 1977 - december 1979:😈👿🌚
those alt communities are their descendants (the ones that listen to the music at least)
Bull shit

Why you gotta do strawberry alarm clock like that
Hippies were considered out of touch and fake. And to be fair, may of the late hippies were.
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!
Always been more of a fan of 80s hardcore, t-shirt, jeans and trainers look than the crazy hair and tartan stuff but this is cool to see!

Great year
amazing
This was at the time that punk started to lose it's individual DIY look and became the corporate look of mohawks and black leather jackets.Never mind.
This is actually from 1979
No 1978. “This year’s Model” by Elvis Costello was released in early 1978. I doubt it would still be hanging in a shop window in 1979
Actually the bit I am in was shot in late summer 1977.
@@trevorhill4723 Thank you for the information. historically beautiful shots

When punk became a uniform and conformity set in.
Cry me a river.

As u would know...
Go ahead, indulge us. What is punk? A timeless attitude, no matter how you look? Rebellion, nonconformity?
How much was stuff from her shop? It’s crazy seeing people walking around wearing shirts that are worth thousands of dollars now
