Actually Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins wrote this song, and at the time you posted this 7 years ago in 2011 Ed King and Bob Burns were still alive. You can also add Rickey Medlocke, Larry Junstrom , Greg T. Walker and Atrimus Pyle as "original" members of Skynyrd who all recorded songs with the classic lineup of Ronnie, Gary, Allen, Leon, Billy and Bob, Rickey, Artimus and Greg T are still alive today "2020".
I started listening to L.S.when they first came out! Up untll November of 77.that music after that,i didnt buy or listen to.except the Rossington Collins band! Their first Album was great.such a great thing snatched from the music world! I still have not gotten over that plane crash! Rip! They were awesome, original & one of a kind!
How do you not put Gary Rossington front and center, that guy is the epitome of a Rock Star and was touring while the rest of them were still in grade school.Gary toured the world and played literally thousands of gigs, now he's reunited with his bandmates after keeping their memory alive so many years. R.I.P. Gary Rossington, the last of the Street Survivors......
In my most humble of opinion Lynyrd Skynyrd is the absolute best American ROCK band,I didn't say metal, ever and I have loved them since high school.Having Gary Rossington actually play with them is very cool and I also am a big fan of Metallica,Corrosion of Conformity and Alice in Chains,so to me,this is very very cool!
Faith no more lost that metal edge when Jim was fired. Still had some good stuff, fool for a day was a decent album and Album of the year had some moments but was missing something without martin
This was a great video. But now here we are now Gary Rossington is no longer with us. What a tremendous loss it was loosing him. He was the last true Southern Rock Gentleman. The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band left us with some of greatest music ever. So now Gary Rossington is with his Lynyrd Skynyrd brothers and sisters in Rock n Roll Heaven. Play it pretty one more time so we can hear you from the heavens above. Long Live The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band.
My favorite band Metallica with a bunch of other talented musicians. Pepper from the bad ass Corrosion Of Conformity, Jim Martin from Faith No More, Jerry Cantrell from Alice And Chains, and Gary Rossington from the iconic band Lynyrd Skynyrd. You gotta love it
Wow, for all these years at the end of Tuesday's Gone on Garage inc, when James says "Thanks Fatso" I thought he was talking about John Popper who was playing harmonica on the album. XD
Kirk seems to be the only one even giving an ounce of respect to Gary, Notice how he watches Gary carefully at points...like a student watching his teacher. (No disrespect intended to Kirk of course).
I dunno about the guy with the bandanna but man. Metallica had to experience a member dieing, Rossington had to experience his band dieing, Cantrell had to witness Layne dieing... man, lot of tragedy on that stage.
@@Joemcncheese can you imagine the vocal harmonies we would have gotten if Pepper got the gig? On stage chemistry between Pep and Het is already awesome.
i love how a band like this and you look at them in 84 and its like these guys are hardcore and today they show stuff like this country roots and all that stuff its awesome
Dude....Gary Rossington in his hay day and now is the best. The Skynyrd band was from rock heaven. Thanks Metalica for comming together and realizing what southern rock ment to all of us. It's hard to fit in Gary's shoes I just wish somebody would bring Skynyrds style and play back from the 70s.
It's too bad the audio isn't better. However it is great to see bands of today like Metallica paying tribute to the great songwriting of Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins and past band members such as Billy Powell, Leon Wilkeson, Ed King and especially with Gary live on stage paying tribute to the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd!
What's weird is that at the beginning the sound is great, I know that Het is only talking, but his mike sounds really quiet after that. Also the intro riff sounds amazing and then it tails of and the sound is suddenly very trebbly and tinny. From that point all the vocal mikes sound dreadful.
Gary DID get up front…the audio just didn’t come through. And remember, Gary’s used to not always being THE main guy. That’s why he was staying back by the amplifiers…he even did that in Skynyrd on songs that featured Allen and either Ed or Steve. Hell, why do you think Ronnie was always using his mic stand to push Gary out front more?
He lost a lot of weight prior to 2012 for the shooting of Through the Never, and was looking fantastic. Not we’ve got a beer-belly, 90’s hybrid Hetfield. Lol
brian reed if you ever saw an interview or documentary with him you will see he is a very nice guy, when you are james hetfield you got a good reason to be full of yourself, but he is acutally a nice guy. and i think he didnt introduce him right by mistake, there was one guy he introduced better, and only by making the cover is big tribute to the band and the guys.
FAB tune--one of my all time favs!! AND LS and Metallica are two my fav top bands forever!!! I wanted to name a dau born after this song, but named her RHIANNON after Fleetwood Mac's tune instead; she was born in '80. My next child, I hoped would also be a girl, I was going to name TUESDAY but I had 3 boys after that only. So, when I got a adorable Maltipoo in '05--I named her TUESDAY ANN, after this song!!!
so...fun fact. noticed that Faith no More's guitarist performs here, which prompted me to go listen to "Epic". He's wearin a 'tallica (Cliff Burton) shirt in that video!
Ironically it happens with better cameras :p since its actually interpreting all the frequencies (especially bass) you get a compression pumping effect from all the clipping
Guest musicians on "Tuesday's Gone" Pepper Keenan - co-lead vocals Jerry Cantrell - guitar Sean Kinney - additional percussion Jim Martin - guitar John Popper - harmonica Gary Rossington - additional guitar Les Claypool - banjo
Did you seriously just list Gary Rossington as "additional guitar"? He happens to be the baddest man on that stage. They wouldn't be singing this song if not for him. "Lead guitarist" would've been more appropriate....or perhaps LEGEND.
for some reason alot of people hate metallica and i used to not like em much, but after hearing this cover of skynyrd with rossington, i gained so much more respect for them.
Growing up and living in Hayward, I used to run into Jim Martin from time to time. All I can say is wow. Time has changed. I wouldn't recognize him from the way he looks now. Loving these videos. Anyone know if Metallica filmed these shows themselves?
My Heavy Metal days have already gone but one think is right, i love Keenan's voice and i really would like to hear him singing something like blues, southern rock...

knowing how he acts on stage, he probably just didn't wanna be, he always gave the other guitarists in skynyrd more of a spotlight
I do appreciate this as a tribute but it does demonstrate how beautiful Ronnie's voice was in Skynyrd's performances.
To a classic from a classic
Totally agree.and was great to see Gary Rossington playing also
There was only one Ronnie
I stopped listening to anyone else sing Ronnie's stuff after the plane crash and till a month ago.

Jerry’s soo delicate he put himself aside a bit to let the others do their thing and his harmonizing is just perfect as usual
Jerry is Jerry
Jerry is such a goat
I agree they should be bowing at the feet of Gary...he is a humble servant of the music he created and most of these guys ... well so be it.
MAN is it good to see Jim Martin on stage holding a guitar again.
Holy Shit I would have NEVER recognized that is Jim Martin. He only has one pair of sunglasses on!

RIP Gary. Thank you Metallica for this!
Play it pretty for Metallica Gary
It's a jam. Some of the commentators here seem to be expecting a rehearsed polished performance.
James and Pepper should just form a country rock band already. It would be awesome.
Wow, for all these years at the end of Tuesday's Gone on Garage inc, when James says "Thanks Fatso" I thought he was talking about John Popper who was playing harmonica on the album. XD

Gary plays so soulful. Live on Ronnie. We miss you Sir.

he's clearly making sure he still playing the right chords cause that whole parts gets chaotic af
I agree…I hope all these boys realize how great Gary Rossington is
Why isn't Gary Rossington standing in the front row? And why aren't the other kneeling at his feet? ??
I feel you on this. But I'm guessing its because all of the vocalists need to be at the front.
sallhame There are two very talented people on that stage. Gary and Jerry Cantrell.
1965Vintage there is a god Known as James Hetfield in stage... rest dont matter
The only gods onstage there are Jerry Cantrell and Gary Rossington.
