- Metallica perform the Lynyrd Skynyrd classic "Tuesday's Gone" with a host of guests including Skynyrd guitarist Gary Rossington, Down and former Corrosion of Conformity member Pepper Keenan, Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell, and former Faith No More guitarist Jim "Fatso" Martin, as well as Soul Rebels on horns. Lynyrd Skynyrd originally recorded the song for their 1973 album "(Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd)". This version was recorded live @ The Fillmore in San Francisco, California on December 9th, 2011 (the third of four Metallica 30th birthday concerts).
Pay respects to Gary people! He is the real legend in there!!!!
Rip
AMEN, THE LAST REBEL AND REAL ROCK GUITARIST Mr. GARY ROSSINGTON!!!!! RIP GARY, Flyhigh FreeBird Fly High
Amen!
RIP Gary
The only Legend up there in my opinion !
RIP Gary Rossington… Fly high FREEBIRD Brother🕊
the guy in the hat is lynyrd skynyrds guitarist gary rossington he is the only surviving member of the original band there who wrote this song
Actually Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins wrote this song, and at the time you posted this 7 years ago in 2011 Ed King and Bob Burns were still alive. You can also add Rickey Medlocke, Larry Junstrom , Greg T. Walker and Atrimus Pyle as "original" members of Skynyrd who all recorded songs with the classic lineup of Ronnie, Gary, Allen, Leon, Billy and Bob, Rickey, Artimus and Greg T are still alive today "2020".
@@jdj62464 i think he meant actual line up, but it would have rickey too
I started listening to L.S.when they first came out! Up untll November of 77.that music after that,i didnt buy or listen to.except the Rossington Collins band! Their first Album was great.such a great thing snatched from the music world! I still have not gotten over that plane crash! Rip! They were awesome, original & one of a kind!
Train roll on!
People forget just how talented skyward was and is. Those riffs,...
I do appreciate this as a tribute but it does demonstrate how beautiful Ronnie's voice was in Skynyrd's performances.
To a classic from a classic
Totally agree.and was great to see Gary Rossington playing also
There was only one Ronnie
I stopped listening to anyone else sing Ronnie's stuff after the plane crash and till a month ago.
How do you not put Gary Rossington front and center, that guy is the epitome of a Rock Star and was touring while the rest of them were still in grade school.Gary toured the world and played literally thousands of gigs, now he's reunited with his bandmates after keeping their memory alive so many years. R.I.P. Gary Rossington, the last of the Street Survivors......
knowing how he acts on stage, he probably just didn't wanna be, he always gave the other guitarists in skynyrd more of a spotlight
Thank you for writing this masterpiece, Gary Rossington.
It's a masterpiece indeed, but this one was Allen Collins' song, not Gary's.
RIP Gary Rossington thank you for everything🕊
Gary is my favorite guitarist, but Allen wrote my two favorite Skynyrd songs: Free Bird and Tuesday's Gone. There will never be another Skynyrd.
Jerry’s soo delicate he put himself aside a bit to let the others do their thing and his harmonizing is just perfect as usual
Jerry is Jerry
Jerry is such a goat
Gary Rosington is a humble person
In my most humble of opinion Lynyrd Skynyrd is the absolute best American ROCK band,I didn't say metal, ever and I have loved them since high school.Having Gary Rossington actually play with them is very cool and I also am a big fan of Metallica,Corrosion of Conformity and Alice in Chains,so to me,this is very very cool!
MAN is it good to see Jim Martin on stage holding a guitar again.
Holy Shit I would have NEVER recognized that is Jim Martin. He only has one pair of sunglasses on!
Faith no more lost that metal edge when Jim was fired. Still had some good stuff, fool for a day was a decent album and Album of the year had some moments but was missing something without martin
I agree they should be bowing at the feet of Gary...he is a humble servant of the music he created and most of these guys ... well so be it.
Imagine Lane Staley and Jerry Cantrell in this moment singing with this guys!
Great to see gary rossington playing with metallica
My favorite band Metallica with a bunch of other talented musicians. Pepper from the bad ass Corrosion Of Conformity, Jim Martin from Faith No More, Jerry Cantrell from Alice And Chains, and Gary Rossington from the iconic band Lynyrd Skynyrd. You gotta love it
Lynyrd skynyrd is my favorite band love Metallica too
Gary plays so soulful. Live on Ronnie. We miss you Sir.
The amount of tragedy some of those guys have experienced would crush most folks. Gary Rossington,, living legend.
This was a great video. But now here we are now Gary Rossington is no longer with us. What a tremendous loss it was loosing him. He was the last true Southern Rock Gentleman. The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band left us with some of greatest music ever. So now Gary Rossington is with his Lynyrd Skynyrd brothers and sisters in Rock n Roll Heaven. Play it pretty one more time so we can hear you from the heavens above. Long Live The Lynyrd Skynyrd Band.
RIP Gary. Thank you Metallica for this!
Play it pretty for Metallica Gary
James and Pepper should just form a country rock band already. It would be awesome.
Wow, for all these years at the end of Tuesday's Gone on Garage inc, when James says "Thanks Fatso" I thought he was talking about John Popper who was playing harmonica on the album. XD
Same
Same
It's a jam. Some of the commentators here seem to be expecting a rehearsed polished performance.
DAMN !!!!! LYNYRD SKYNYRD IS THE REAL AMERICAN BAND EVER AND FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!
All I can say Gary ,Job well done ! Rest well big guy! Your missed
RIP Gary
i love how a band like this and you look at them in 84 and its like these guys are hardcore and today they show stuff like this country roots and all that stuff its awesome
Dude....Gary Rossington in his hay day and now is the best. The Skynyrd band was from rock heaven. Thanks Metalica for comming together and realizing what southern rock ment to all of us. It's hard to fit in Gary's shoes I just wish somebody would bring Skynyrds style and play back from the 70s.
It's too bad the audio isn't better. However it is great to see bands of today like Metallica paying tribute to the great songwriting of Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins and past band members such as Billy Powell, Leon Wilkeson, Ed King and especially with Gary live on stage paying tribute to the legacy of Lynyrd Skynyrd!
Oh Lord bring us back Ronnie Van Zant
sulzer73 we'll give u Bieber if u give us back Ronnie
Yes !!! Please
Gary get up front damn it! This is a stage of gods!
Gary DID get up front…the audio just didn’t come through. And remember, Gary’s used to not always being THE main guy. That’s why he was staying back by the amplifiers…he even did that in Skynyrd on songs that featured Allen and either Ed or Steve. Hell, why do you think Ronnie was always using his mic stand to push Gary out front more?
I dunno about the guy with the bandanna but man. Metallica had to experience a member dieing, Rossington had to experience his band dieing, Cantrell had to witness Layne dieing... man, lot of tragedy on that stage.
from what i've heard, He sees the world through bloodshot eyes.
@@grungyflannel as long as he doesn’t Stare Too Long, he should be alright
@@grungyflannel Yea they knew We Die Young. But some had to stay and carry the torch.
Completely unrelated but if Rob and Twiggy didn't show up to the Metallica bass auditions pepper would of probably become the bassist
@@ToneOClock can you imagine the vocal harmonies we would have gotten if Pepper got the gig? On stage chemistry between Pep and Het is already awesome.
Ahh so many guitars!!
I only see one true guitarist up thare and thats the grate legend Gary rossington
Fly High Gary with your Skynyrd brothers 🕊️🕊️ , Allen Collins is my guitar hero 🎸. I'm sure they were smiling down
James: "Alright, is everyone plugged in and ready to rock?!"
Everyone except for Kirk.
Legendary song. Legendary artists
Their music echoes throughout eternity.
Im just an hardcore punk, who loves metal and listen to lynrd skynrd
Why isn't Gary Rossington standing in the front row? And why aren't the other kneeling at his feet? ??
I feel you on this. But I'm guessing its because all of the vocalists need to be at the front.
sallhame There are two very talented people on that stage. Gary and Jerry Cantrell.
1965Vintage there is a god Known as James Hetfield in stage... rest dont matter
The only gods onstage there are Jerry Cantrell and Gary Rossington.
# Duwi who the hell are they??
great number with special guest gary rossington....Tuesdays´gone!!
Kirk seems to be the only one even giving an ounce of respect to Gary, Notice how he watches Gary carefully at points...like a student watching his teacher. (No disrespect intended to Kirk of course).
he's clearly making sure he still playing the right chords cause that whole parts gets chaotic af
I agree…I hope all these boys realize how great Gary Rossington is
I miss hearing John Popper, his harmonica work really fit well in this song.
Gary Rossington 🤘🤘🤘
It would've been cool if Jerry had done more vocals, he's a fucking amazing singer
or if james just didn't sing and let pepper and jerry be lead
@@billrobertjoe that would have been amazing
LOVE this!!
Great video quality. Tack så mycket
I'm happy they had a blast.
av3nger3 nooo

Pepper Keenan n Corrosion of Conformity deserved stardom like Metallica

I think I woulda creamed my pants just being able to see Gary Rossington!!!
Magistral!!!
Adoro as duas bandas
James is magnificent. Luvs it.
FAB tune--one of my all time favs!! AND LS and Metallica are two my fav top bands forever!!! I wanted to name a dau born after this song, but named her RHIANNON after Fleetwood Mac's tune instead; she was born in '80. My next child, I hoped would also be a girl, I was going to name TUESDAY but I had 3 boys after that only. So, when I got a adorable Maltipoo in '05--I named her TUESDAY ANN, after this song!!!
AMAZING..!!!!
Glad to see Gary looking good after heart surgery
This performance was in 2011
EPICNESS
Love it

So much legend. Everyone at the concert died of over indulgent of awesomeness.
Jerry and Peeper are Legends to me!!!

First song i ever learned. and it wasn't last tuesday, cos' i'm catching this one up.. only 22 too late.
Man I would give everything to be at least in one day of thjs event...Tuesday's gone, To Live is To Die, It's Electric, etc, etc, etc..that would be a dream come true to me
Best!
i dont know if everyone wanted to rush it but shit, i love the original timing
Крутая песня. слушаю один под коньяк и грущу о потерянной девушке
i wish i coulda been there :( this is so fucking awesome.
Jim Martin -!!!!!!!
Growing up and living in Hayward, I used to run into Jim Martin from time to time. All I can say is wow. Time has changed. I wouldn't recognize him from the way he looks now. Loving these videos. Anyone know if Metallica filmed these shows themselves?
Pepper is god! haha
Amazing video! Amazing show!
Heaven
Gary for the win. RIP.
i ave respect for metallica
This was so fucking awesome...
So many guitars.
My Heavy Metal days have already gone but one think is right, i love Keenan's voice and i really would like to hear him singing something like blues, southern rock...
so...fun fact. noticed that Faith no More's guitarist performs here, which prompted me to go listen to "Epic". He's wearin a 'tallica (Cliff Burton) shirt in that video!
Mathias, I hope they play Hero of the Day tonight in ur honor for sharing all this stuff with us. :)
Metallica played with Gary Rossington? Now I've seen everything
Help my fuck.two of my favorite bands collaborating
Up! 💓 Anna&Tinja
seriously..... the legendary Gary Rossington, relegated to the corner spot, what a shame.
A legend indeed.
He probably wanted it that way. Rossington was obviously the man in this stage. Only reason I watched this.
grazie di esistere
brividi ogni volta.....
Been to the bar they were talking about
Muito Bom :)
James looks so Thin in this chip
he was
He lost a lot of weight prior to 2012 for the shooting of Through the Never, and was looking fantastic. Not we’ve got a beer-belly, 90’s hybrid Hetfield. Lol
RIP Gary!
I hate to say this, but you forgot Gary's intro, after all it's one of his songs.
