Guardian QI is perfect for my Polaris hangar... he can take 1scu box in the interior, he can be used as interdiction heavy fighter, research and rescue, and drop ship.
It needs the headlights on the front side of the wings instead of the cockpit. When you turn them on it illuminates the wings In front of you and washes out anything you’re trying to see.
This ship is really the bounty hunter's runabout. You can get in and out of it easilly, it's got a shitter, shower and a bed, and you can easilly access your gear and ship inventory close to the pilot seat. It's very well designed with the exception of the g-force issues it has. I love flying it, but dogfighting in it is kinda out of the question. It's like a Civic with lazer cannons, but you break your neck trying to have fun with it.
I agree, the Guardian really was an unexpected favorite daily driver for me too. and you can even put a 1SCU loot box comfortable in the back and still get around it :D
Oh! I had no idea it had a gun rack in the front. That is so awesome! Yes I love this ship too! I even carry around a 2scu box with me by placing it on the elevator and using the front exit! 😁
Be careful when storing guns in that rack though as I've heard that a stray shot in that area can make the panel just fly off and take your guns with it.
I love this ship to. To exit from the front, you need to aim at the rear exit button, hold F, right-click, and choose "exit through the front of the cockpit" from the radial menu. :)
I'm not a pledge ship collector. I have one ship for each game loop. And this weekend, the Guardian replaced my beloved Scorpius. With the shift to solo players needing to fly solo ships, I've been downgrading some of my larger ships. And as you mention, the Guardian has it all. Great review and keep up the good work!
It's a superb ship for its class. However, I do not recommend using the gun rack and storage pod outside on the arms. I have lost several guns and gear after they got blown off in combat. Use them only for spare temporary storage when bringing back loot from a bunker to your home station. Keep your best stuff on your person or store them inside the ship.
I agree with you - one thing I would have changed... make the center mfd's follow the already existing deadspots in vision along the diagonal axis where the front pylons are Other than that love it
Yeah there's quality of life things to be looked at for sure like the super bright cockpit lights lol. I'm sure they will get that stuff sorted after the holidays....maybe lol.
The other big difference between the guardian and the vanguards is that the guardian has 2 entrances/exits. Makes it great if u have to park in a way that makes it safer to exit one way over the other. Thanks Wookie, great video
I can't tell you how many times I have felt this way about a ship in SC, only to have them nerf it to the point of loathing. CIG has shanked me so many times, I don't trust them enough to buy another ship.
I don’t believe it’s going to be nerfed, ok probably the Qi variant as It doesn’t have any downsides to the base version. However, the base guardian isn’t overpowered, it’s even a bit underpowered in comparison to all the other heavy fighters.
Everyone keeps comparing it to the vanguard, but really it's the foil to the Antares. Tie Fighter Interceptor vs X-Wing. The Qi has become my daily driver as well and I can't wait for when I'll be able to upgrade components. A T3 ship with T5 components is going to be a monster.
I love this ship so much, but I think that CIG sometimes has a problem with “assigning” a purpose/function to some of their ships. They call this ship a heavy fighter, and that’s going to cause some of the smooth-brains to say “well, it sucks as a heavy fighter!” If they’d properly assign the mission or function of this ship, maybe something like Expeditionary Fighter or something similar, the response to the ship would be better. I do agree that it needs another shield, though.
I personally wish it had 4 size 4 cannons and another shield. Small fighters tend to easily out maneuver it, and with higher dps it eats through its shields. I know 4.0 does not have a lot of upgrades, so I just feel it is missing a few things that make it a truly great heavy fighter. Yes, if you land the shots, it can easily take out small fighters, but it is not very good in a pvp fight without backup
real question is QI or Base because with those S1 power you don't have enough to stay stealth power the QD and keep up with them unless you got friends
I know a lot of people liken its appearance to a Tie fighter, but me personally, I see something between the Crog warship and Molly’s racer from Oban Star-Racers.
Agree - I see this one being a great Xeno Threat ship where you clear out the enemy ships and then board to sweep the ship of combatants. A fighter can kill ships, but the Guardian has the suit locker to gear up for FPS action. This is what sold me. We know one day you won't be able to fly with heavy armor and this will make fighters a limited use ship vs the Guardian will have more options. She is a great design overall.
I wasn't expecting to be tempted into buying this ship. But once I got checking it out it was the ONLY ship in the game that could get me to upgrade my Syulen. The only thing it lacks in comparison is the cargo grid option. It has the same stuff as the Syulen: 1 man ship, bed, good visibility, good internal space, suit locker, weapon rack, bathroom with shower, and all the components are inside. No other ship did these things, and then came this ship. The Guardian has: better shield, better guns, better survivability, more grounded with a human look/feel, a proper kitchen, outside storage and weapon racks, easier to land, easier to get into in space, and has engineering panel for future content. The only thing it loses next to the Syulen is lack of cargo, and the Syulen was already pretty bad at that since it only took 1 SCU boxes, that and the price of course. Who wouldn't buy a much better dedicated hauler even if you had a Syulen. I've been looking for a ship like it and hadn't seen it yet. This ship is kinda a one-hit wonder that on top of the features looks cool. Yea, it isn't the best at combat at the end of the day but it is great at PvE and with PvP you might at least feel like you can try and get some hits in which is better than most.
Unfortunately, combat is the only thing its suppose to do, and its below par at it. Poor shield capacity, squishy hull/wings and engines, average maneuverability, and below average DPS. Its not good at anything, other than having a nice aesthetic which doesnt help in its actual role.
if you use the back ramp you can fit at least 4 scu in 1scu boxes inside the Guardian, you could probably fit one or at a push two more but it makes getting them back out a real pain in the ass. it's not a lot of cargo but it does help top up a bounty missions pay a bit more
@@cornervillain838 You are not wrong that it fails in it's own role. Except that most people are doing PvE, where you're shooting less smaller targets and shines nicely. While it focus's on combat and isn't technically the best, it is fun! And this is a game where that is the true purpose of playing. It just feels good to fly and use which opening to a lot of gameplay mechanics. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and what they like, so I don't disagree with you except that the ship is just a good time.
I am liking it more and more as I use it. The external storage and flight performance makes it a great bunker/ground combat runner. I guess the Vanguard series is comparable but I am sorry, I absolutely hate the fixed quad size two nose guns on those.
bit of a downside for me with the ship is the stubby little landing gear it has. Although not a deal breaker, it does mean landing planet side can be somewhat of a hassle sometimes
I got a guardian to try for a while before i upgraded it to a vanguard. But after using it for a while I think might keep it. I don't even understand why I like it, I certainly didn't want to.
Since I got myself the guardian qi, I have suddenly discovered my old love for the vanguard sentinel that was gathering dust in the hangar. The tie fighter flies well, looks great and with a bit of skill you can even take 2 scu cargo boxes with you. As far as combat is concerned, its only advantage is its small ship size 2. it's okay in terms of firepower, but it didn't wow me. its durability is atrocious due to the poor distribution of hull hp. the ship is a glass cannon. in contrast, the vanguard sentinel, which is almost twice as big, is far superior to it in terms of toughness and firepower. i don't know if i'll keep the tie fighter, at least for now. but the three available colors are beautiful!
Agree completely! It's a great daily driver to run around and do missions or even explore Pyro because it's got enough muscle and protection to deter pirates. For me, I need a ship interior and a size 2 quantum drive for a daily driver, and this one has those as well.
Only issue I have with the Guardians is the fact a Pulse cannot just be pulled onto the elevator and stored easily... a gravlev gun is required and that's IF you want to bother dealing with the ensuing madness... That said, it's still my new daily driver and one of my favorite ships they've dropped since the Corsair which still holds the title "All Time Wet Dream" lmao (Also when you think about it a guardian is really just a Corsair Co-Pilot detached and given a livable solo ship..... don't mind my brain)
I think changing the weapons to repeaters may be a good move as I ran out of shots when fighting small fighters great when they all land but I miss more that I hit LOL
2:20 that mode of HUD elements needs to be along the top of the MFDs like in the Reliant. Why would thy shove them to the bottom? The Guardian sure is nice, I am on the fence of melting my Corsair for the QI....I have plenty of other ships to fill the Corsair's role, but don't have a proper combat fighter in my fleet just yet, thoughts?
My only gripe with internal storage is that it takes way too long to empty loot to your local inventory. Can CIG allow us to access our ship's inventory via the local terminals that the ship is stored at? I'm not a coder, that's why I ask this.
Perfectly designed for pledgers to let their guard down and be extra surprised when CIG eventually nerf it in order to push the next flavor of the week.
Man i wish i had one. but its just too expensive for me. I feel like the Guardian will only rise in popularity the second they dont let you hop on the pilot seat with full armour and weapons. Totally agree with this. The Qi has become my daily driver. The perfect Tie fighter for a Wookie
It needs the headlights on the front side of the wings instead of the cockpit. When you turn them on it illuminates the wings In front of you and washes out anything you’re trying to see.
Same as on the Vulture. Very annoying and makes them a bit useless.
Yeah I agree definitely should be in the tips of the wings.
I need a headlight refactor on all ships tbh
The g-force thing is not unique to the Guardian. It's game-wide. I believe it is prep for flightsuits and racing suits having purpose.
it's a g-safe calibration issue. the Guardian has a much higher g-force limit than most ships do so blackouts happen faster in it with g-safe enabled
Hopefully!!
if is true then their should be two suit lockers per-ship or it should be upgradable to hold more with higher tech
I thought that also since the trailer had the Guardian pilot wearing the race one
This ship is really the bounty hunter's runabout. You can get in and out of it easilly, it's got a shitter, shower and a bed, and you can easilly access your gear and ship inventory close to the pilot seat. It's very well designed with the exception of the g-force issues it has.

My only complaint about it is having like 9 doors on a ship 3 metres long really annoys me - but other than that it's great.
Yeah the only reason I can think of why that is and this is just a guess is that it will help mitigate fires having those doors.
My ONLY gripe, is the bubble cockpit.
The only complain about the interior is the red lighting. It would feel more spacious and welcoming with white or yellow.
Yeah I agree with that almost feels like the emergency lights are always on.
That and the persistent lights in the cockpit pointing at ur eyes... They just need to take those out or add a switch
That’s the emergency/ alert lighting I believe… you have to turn them off in each room
i wish we could make it whatever color we wanted, that'd be fantastic!
This ship is everything I wished it was when I saw the concept... and then some ! Its basically a heavier Avenger Titan lol !.
well dammit, now there's US$230 burning a hole in my pocket.
