Agreed! The lyrics could really be about anything as long as they are angry about something and it would work because the tune itself and its hooks are so good.
The lyrics are *VERY* specific. In general people like songs they can relate to in one way or the other. Not many people in the past 30 years can relate to anything having to do with Ronald Reagan. Also, I think more than a few people, myself included, take Johnnys side on this one in regards to the lyrics and not necessarily agree with them. He didnt like the message but played it anyway. I think its one of The Ramones best and most complete songs from start to finish. Lots of Ramones songs have a sing along chorus or whatever but are otherwise kinda incomplete. This song has all the structor of a great song. Without knowing what the lyrics are in reference to, they seem just kinda obscure.
Too bad this song was written by a scumbag punk rock star who hated Ronald Reagan. This exemplifies everything wrong with politics. The idiotic uninformed performers having a bigger voice than our leaders. Especially when the leader is republican.
This is a song about an American President laying a wreath on Nazi graves. Regan justified his decision by saying the Nazi soldiers were, "were victims, just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps".
School of rock introduced this song to me in 5th grade. Recently watched and fell in love with this song almost 20 years later.. good times man..

I agree fully
@@mjriemen I don’t see how you could possibly take Johnny’s side. Joey was 100% in the right.
@@clinteldorado yeah simping for nazis is not at all based and Reagan is a sellout, glad he's in the ground

True
Yeah!
Too bad this song was written by a scumbag punk rock star who hated Ronald Reagan. This exemplifies everything wrong with politics. The idiotic uninformed performers having a bigger voice than our leaders. Especially when the leader is republican.
Pure, windows-down, sing-along bliss!
this song makes me feel like everything’s gonna be okay

This is a song about an American President laying a wreath on Nazi graves.
Regan justified his decision by saying the Nazi soldiers were, "were victims, just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps".
Peak Ramones tbh. This stuff is where they shined the most. Impossible to beat
This song suddenly makes me wanna excel in music class..
Animal Boy is a awesome album with great lyrics and music
They were going thru a lot of things personally then but still recorded a great album...
