The best part of the 1989 film was Fred Gwynne (aka Herman Munster) The Ramones tracks were an added bonus! I haven’t seen the remake and I don’t care to.
No one talks about this, but Stephen King wanted The Ramones attached to the movie. In the novel Pet Semetary there are multiple references to Ramones songs like Blitzkrieg Bop and Sheena Is A Punk Rocker.
King, a huge Ramones fan, invited the Ramones to his Bangor, Maine home as they played in New England. During the visit, he handed Dee Dee Ramone a copy of his Pet Sematary novel, and the bassist retreated to the basement. One hour later, Dee Dee returned with the lyrics to "Pet Sematary".
Just so you know how it actually happened. Dee Dee was contemplating a hip hop career solo... but Pet Sematary hit and became the Ramones biggest chart topper. And it was written in Stephen King's basement, after Dee Dee read the book.
Love this song. The minor chords give this track a different feel from the earlier Major chord tracks, 'Sedated' 'Blitzkrieg Bop' etc. Great to see the band explore new territory whilst retaining their essence.

“The soil of a man's heart is stonier, Louis. A man grows what he can, and he tends it. 'Cause what you buy, is what you own. And what you own... always comes home to you.”
These lyrics are so symbolic. Its just like thinking of life before life and everything dead he brings up in the song is like some sort of remnant. He doesn't want to live his life again because it's too haunting.
Masha Linehan (the founder of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) used to tell suicidal patients that some cultures believe that, if you commit suicide, you have to live the same life again. She said that was effective at deterring suicide.
That was the thing with most horror movies from King's books. They scared children sh.tless and most adults thought they were lame. When i was a kid riding my bike home from football training i passed a store everytime where they had a pennywise poster from "it" hanging on a wall outside. This poster almost traumatized me. Then years later i watched the movie when it was on tv at night and to me it was just boring.

Totally dude I agree. I only got into them much later through hearing occasional radio play. They played last show when I was like 13 so never got a chance to appreciate them fully. Then I bought a greatest hits album and I was a fan for life
Here it is Saturday morning and I'm watching this video. Love this song. I've always loved the Ramones and they paved the way for a lot of other bands. When I was younger my friends and I would hang out in the cemetery during the day time but at night we would sneak in and just chill. It's much more peaceful hanging out with the dead and quiet. We never vandalized anything like the punks do today, it's just disrespectful to mess with the people who have passed on. I'm a big Steven King fan as well.

I've seen The Ramones play well over 30 times from 1984 until the mid-90s. While living in NYC, I ran into each of them at different times. I devoted an entire chapter to The Ramones in my book, New York City Junky Days.
You were living the life I wanted. I was stuck in Dayton. Wish I could time travel back to NYC to see The Ramones. And Patti Smith❤️.I did see Lou Reed every time he came to town, followed Iggy Pop around when he was touring the Agoras all over Ohio. Bowie was playing keyboards. I miss my groupie days and am sorry I never made it to NYC back then. Of course, if I had, I probably wouldn’t be here to make this comment.

@@rachelkordas9671 “tame them?” What you really mean (I’m guessing?) is that wolves are too bright and independent to come under the submission of a human. I think you could do it if you got a baby wolf straight from birth? But if they’re 1 year old, or even 3 months old, it may be too late at that point? Ya know? I didn’t delve much into it, but there has got to be an account of someone raising a wolf as a pet? Just came to mind: You ought to watch “dances with wolves” starring Kevin Costner. I never saw it, but it’s won awards. Speaking of which, why haven’t I came across it on Netflix or Hulu? Hmmm 🤔

The best part of the 1989 film was Fred Gwynne (aka Herman Munster) The Ramones tracks were an added bonus! I haven’t seen the remake and I don’t care to.
Fresh Prince Of Darkness I have seen it........it was boring and not scary like the old one
And it was written in Stephen King's basement, after Dee Dee read the book.

.......A really sad moment...
They look like children who are just happy

These lyrics are so symbolic. Its just like thinking of life before life and everything dead he brings up in the song is like some sort of remnant. He doesn't want to live his life again because it's too haunting.
Masha Linehan (the founder of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) used to tell suicidal patients that some cultures believe that, if you commit suicide, you have to live the same life again. She said that was effective at deterring suicide.

Makes me glad to have been a fan from way back.
These are some of my favorite lyrics of all-time. Pure poetry, there's more than meets the eye with Dee Dee.
You're so right about that. "I don't want to live my life again." Man that line hits me every time. So simple but so deep.
I love how, despite being shot over 13 years later, they still wear pretty much the same clothes as on the cover of their debut album.
I think people could wear that style now and still look cool. It's a great look.
Why change something which is clearly not broken?
They thought about having stage costumes but they just stayed with what they were wearing every day.
Allan Day thank fuck because we had kiss, and well...
Johnny was insistent that they all kept the uniform. It was one of the reasons for Dee Dee leaving
