This was bought to replace an old Lenovo tablet which was essentially too sluggish to cope with modern websites. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxz4qYZoyAOb_hq_UbaKI6AsZX0FnoFm-U This tablet is fast, has a very clear display with built in optional eye comfort shield, great sound with Dolby Atmos, split screen option and numerous tweaks that I've not yet explored. I've plugged a wireless receiver into the i/o socket to connect a mouse if I need it and a bluetooth keyboard works fine - unlike the Lenevo which somehow would often garble the input. Battery life seems good. In short I'm very pleased with it
Am commenting with the exact tablet with a custom ROM... It's really amazing even after 10 years
Do any of you still have this tablet? Applications like UA-cam or other don’t work anymore. I have deleted them and downloaded them back but they won’t work. Do you all have any suggestion to get all these other applications to work on this tablet? Thanks

i really enjoyed looking at all the features that were shown in here. alot of videos just show parts that the presenter likes and not alot of what it can do. this one showed alot more of what it could do which was nicely done !!!!!

Just bought this tablet last week after selling my iPad3 for $400. LOVE IT! Even though I have invested a lot in the Apple/iTunes ecosystem over the years, I Can't deal with Apple's minimal changes and tight control of what the user can change, iPad Air bores me, more of the same.
This tablet has the best screen I have ever seen! Even beatscretina display. I am new to S pen and want to thank you for your in depth review because you uncovered featured I would have never found on my own. THANKS

I really enjoyed this review. I am getting my one delivered tomorrow. I actually watched your video 3 times in the last 2 months as I debated with myself on what tablet to get. Some people complain that the video is too long but I like the detail you put in. In order to cater for those who like shorter, general videos, you could post two versions - one being the full version (like this) and one which is edited down to like 10-15 mins instead. Just an idea I had.

Great review! I've been going back and forth between the Note 10.1 (2014) and the New iPad Air. This definitely persuaded me to get the Note. Interesting, considering I own a Mac and an iPhone. Cute dogs!
It is a much more capable tablet than the ipad. I have own two prior ipads and this along with my surface pro beats the ipad hands down.

Sony is the only one I know of, with a 10+ inch screen, that is water resistant Agbo. You can take the Sony Xperia Z2 10.1 inch in the shower with you, as long as you have the access ports closed properly. I don't recall the depth it is warranted for, but I'm sure you can find that out if water resistance is a deal maker/breaker. I will stick with Samsung for the Note stylus and software for it, but the Sony is the closest to Samsung in most aspects. I'd say it's worth checking out.

If Samsung makes such great devices, why do people still buy Apple's? In my case it was ignorance and the iPad Air was my first tablet at all. But why do people who have knowledge of this subject buy Apple? Is there a twist to Samsung's devices?
Some people like iOS apps, some others like Apple design, and some others just think it's cool to show everybody else the eaten apple logo (go figure...)
i wan to buy this tablet but there are two reasons for considering other brands including apple
1: bloatware: touch wiz is by far not perfect or efficient and by far not the most aesthetically pleasing. it makes the samsung lag. a friend of mine installed stock android into his samsung g note 3 (i think it was) obviously all google services werent available but daaaaaaaaammmmm the phone was like lightniing.!!!!
2: apple is very basic and easy and even if this is very inconvenient sometimes, its what makes it so fast with such shity specifications. if both devices runned with ios samsung would f***k iphone or ipad buuuut they are not. in my case the reason i want to buy a tablet is to draw and do some scetchbook and design stuff. not too hardcore just general drawing (im an artist) so the ipad would be ok for me.
i have twooooo maaasive drawbacks when i think of buying an ipad or any apple devices.
1: over-f***ing-priced for the specifications. allthough it makes sense because the cost of production are so high ( samsung display, intel processor and built quality + components that are bought from foreign companies and not produced)
2: there is no stylus or spen, which is my biggest plus side for samsung because at least in my mothers note 4 it does wonders, it sooo precise and usefull.

The rotation lag in my opinion is not due to lack of CPU power or a giant screen resolution. That is an Android thing we all live with. I wished Google could just leave behind this Android to really jump to a new Android 5.0 ecosystem where apps runs directly within the Android Platform more integrated. ART seems promising. See? The less virtualized the smoother it will run! Looking forward to the Note 3!

I have had a tab like this since December 2013, the black version, and I haven't tried out half of the features because I wasn't sure what the heck they were for and I didn't bother to try them out to see. This video really cleared that up for me. Great tab btw :)

I love this and I wanna buy this so bad but no. I felt the same thing when the note 1 and note 10.1 first came out and it felt like it was the best thing in the world until something newer comes in and I feel disappointed. Sigh*, no one will ever be satisfied with material things.

Brings back memories when my middle school had these. They were great, and some of us figured out how to "sideload" apps typically not available through their own app suite. The S-Pen will never match any stylus I use for my phones.

***IMPORTANT QUESTION***
if the wifi only version of the 10.1 has gps built in.. I'm assuming it does not need a wifi connection, therefore.. if I were in a plane and were using it to navigate, would it work without a cell signal? Would the standalone GPS simply just work at 10,000 feet in the air?

BTW he doesn't need to touch the mic icon because google now response with ok google in 4.3 but not like 4.4 yet,still need to manually start the apps :) the command works only after the app is started :) Cheers!

Hmmm... Have to disagree. I'm absolutly an Apple-FANboy. Always have the newest iPhone and iPad. For the fun of it 4 weeks ago I got the Galaxy Note 3 with Galaxy Gear. Haven't touched the iPhone since. The same thing with this new version of Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition.
My iPad is now a dust collector. So yes it happend. iPhone and iPad seems so outdated compared to these fine Samsung products. And I say that as a owner of all of them and with my heart belonging to Apple. Like that logo :-) But Samsungs new product are KICKASS - Gadgetgasm :-)
Samsungs product's have SO many nice features I've been missing out on.
Especially now with iOS 7. It lags and looks like a joke. I'm almost religious about my iPhone and iPad. But they lost me there. Computers are still mac's though, cos Windows sucks ass.... :-)

alternet8 Just wrote my love for the Note. But Galaxy is not faster in many cases. It doesnt handle the high screen resolution as well as the iPad. Else is the Note best.

What settings are your camera on, because when i am filming my device, if the screen is white, i get these yellow and green bars things, but if i put it slightly out of focus then it stops. any thoughts? also i'm not a reviewing competitor haha am doing some work for a company.

I need an art tablet and am very intrested in starting making comic books, i tried this out and it had an autodesk sketchbook app on it but do you think it would be good enough for what i need? I've been researching tabelts like Wacom and other ones like Bosto or Yiynova, but those are out of my price range, this is not.
You think that this would be good enough? I'm very interested cause i can tell it's a very nice tablet, i tried it out at the store too and it felt good, itll take getting used to but i liked it. I dont want to get it and realize its not good enough for what i need though.

Mike after watching this review i finally made up my mind to get this tablet.......i have been playing around wit it for 4days nw.i do have a quick question....when i go to task manager and then to RAM manager and clicking on clear memory it shows a message indicating that so much applications closed(between 10 to 30) and more than 2GB of RAM being used.......is there a way to know which applications are running on the background so that i can permanantly disable them...Thanx in advance.

awesome review...but samsung is no match for apple's performance. Ya, samsung may have more features,but it hangs a lot. Samsung is like hyundai, covering its lack of performance by giving a horde of features. I specially watched this review to see if whether the highest-end-product of samsung hangs or not and the screen rotation (coz tha samsung tab2 7-incher is frustratingly hangs a lot and screen rotation, even when it was new, was and is terrible). And boy i'm disappointed in samsung after watching this video. Because i've researched a lot to find out that apple is better than others or not, and after watching so many exhaustive review videos of major competitors of apple, i've reached the conclusion that apple is GOD in computing because of its smoothness and speed. (even though it has lower specs than samsung.)
P.S.: FYI DetroitBORG, the screen rotation lag isn't due to higher resolution coz i've seen ipad air rotates in just 0.3 seconds even after having 2500x1600-ish resolution.
