Me and my 2 sisters sang this song in the 70's We were in a group and we performed in the local clubs in around the word. We opened for the jackson family and performed for Leroy and skillet back in the day!.My sister Lena, was the lead singer she passed away on the 21, of February this year... I lead this song and now I am crying bc Im thinking about my sister Lena, R.I. P my beautiful sister! 🌷❤💝👼
I truly believe that, if I'd never heard this song I would still be stuck in a relationship that was going nowhere with nothing but lye after lye playing to the same old things that I faced everyday, yes that truly was the changing point in my life, that day when I listened to the meaning of the words of this song.. Doing well, and found that woman who made me realize, there's more than the wind beneath my knees..
I was going overseas to finish my tour in the U.S. Army when this beautiful tune was out and my family had taken me to the airport and that was the last jam I heard. Mother started crying and everyone else as I boarded the plane. Once the flight took off I got tears in my eyes too! because of leaving them and the Beautiful Record Just Call Me The Travelling Man and that became my Nick Name until by the Grace of God I landed back on U.S. soil 39yrs ago so to this day I Love this record by the Masquerades and I Always will. God Bless Us All Donald R. Moore Detroit, MI.
This is the type of song that will never age, i REMEMBER listening to this jam on WHUR-96.3 washington DC.'s QUIET STORM talking to my girlfriend for hours waiting for the weekend's so i could replay this song on my slow jams tape( trying to edit out as much of melvin lindsey as possible,RIP, melvin) man im in my late 40's now and this type of music is very rare.
Although this is a love song, it hit me for another reason. I had ended one chapter in my life, and was drowning in hopelessness at the time, sitting on a river bank in Dayton, OH with a view of a highway, and airplanes overhead. It seemed at the time that everybody was moving by me. This song was my declaration for changing the course of my life. At that moment, I made up my mind to leave the victim mentality behind and do something positive. Music adds atmosphere to our lives.
Curtis Hooks. I was caught up in yestrdays tears , and Tomorrows fears , of being without my daughter . And 52 years later the Pain Remains within ", The Travelin Man. TStone "
Did you listen to WDAO, the Soul of Dayton? I am from Springfield Ohio and listened to WDAO a lot during the 70s. I discovered the Ojays and all of the great soul music of that era through WDAO. My Eldest Brother had this song on a record, and he would play it everyday.
everybody on the east coast was goin to Cali, even if they didnt stay it was a time that everyone wanted to be free the world was our oyster, We were the first generation to realize that we could still love our parents without living their lives. This beautiful song tells that story. excellent, thanks
This was me and my husband's favorite song when we were dating back in the 70's -- we broke up and both had 2 marriages before we finally got back together in 2019.
Something about the R&B music of the 70's in particular. Coming out of the 60's, the music seemed to reach an emotional, spiritual and creative level that became the standard bearer. Maybe because that was my era as a youth and a teenager, but the 80's, 90,s and 2000's don't seem to compare. Only the early 80's seemed to carry over to what was produced and made throughout the 70's. Classic stuff...... and great days.
My daddy’s song .. he requested this song at his funeral .. ( so unexpected) but I granted that wish ... omggg this song tho 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 Daddy Rest In Peace
I do not know why this song is so mesmerizing along with enchantment. I would listen this and Gloria and hear every chord played more so than any other song. Memories !!!!
I use to sing this song walking to catholic school from the projects and I dreamed I was a traveling girl going to take the world by the hand. I've had the blessed fortune to have traveled the world 🌎and it was with this 🎵 song that planted the seed!
I REMEMBER The Masqueraders !!! I used to LISTEN to their R&B Hits on the radio in the late '60's -early '70's !! All of their songs got airplay on Cleveland Radio: "PLEASE TAKE ME BACK" , "TRAVELING MAN", "I AIN'T GOT TO LOVE NOBODY ELSE", "I'M JUST AN AVERAGE GUY", "CHANGE GONNA COME "....I remember them ALL...BOUGHT QUITE A FEW OF THEM...TOO !! I was SHOCKED to see them standing in front of Simon of AGT some 40 years later....sounding just as good as they did when I was a young man so many years ago!! I don't CARE about RAP, HIP-HOP, and all these current styles of music... CLASSIC SOUL & R&B WILL NEVER DIE !!! www.allmusic.com/artist/the-masqueraders-mn0000476546
