Thanks for the review, have purchased one today as cheesed off with spomb opening at random times, also saw one being used and looked alot more delicate hitting the water than the spomb which can sound like a depth charge at times 😃
I've got the wolf one it's the only baiting system il use it flys well and as you said so many different ways to use it. I have it not open and I put that down to not hitting the clip and have the spring popping out so both down to me.
Ok I live in the USA and carp fishing is not very popular here. Spods or spoms, are not sold anywhere locally here. I ordered a Nash micro dot spod online early this spring from an ebay seller in Europe someplace. I liked it. It worked ok. Only downfall is that I chum with a boiled field corn mix that filled up the little spom quick and the "lid" never wanted to close very easily. Easy to fill one handed yes, but really doesn't make it easy when the thing keeps popping open repeatedly. I had it dump chum on me numerous times this year I would say at least one dump for every 10 successful spod casts. I ended up ordering a larger one off of ebay. It was similar but cheap off brand type of spod with more capacity. Both worked about the same. The cheap one finally broke however. The plastic didn't hold up for one complete season. It took almost a month to get but I just got this wolf x spod in the mail yesterday. Shipping costs more than the actual item which sucks. I can't wait to use it and try it out. I think i should be able to fill it one handed and snap it closed no problem and I am really excited about not dumping chum out on the ground before I cast or having it dumped on my head during the cast. The only thing I wish this spod could do is "shotgun" the bait with a mid air release of chum to make a larger spread. I anticipate it being better than the other two and working well though.
Only downside to it opening every time is you can’t stop a wayward one emptying bait off course but it’s a great bit of kit just a shame the competition is not available anywhere
I prefer my dot spod to these a lot more but I agree these are good bits of kit. Just prefer the dot spod it’s easier to fill and quicker can fill it one handed, the dot spod floats on it’s own aswell mate 👍
I like dot spod for the same reason, but I bought one 1 month ago and it opens while flying and its so annoying . Does anyone has the same problem. (Sorry for my english, if there are any mistakes).
Works fine...but...downside: closes to fast after hitting the water surface, so spod isn't empty most of the time. Fill's up with water during inhale, so is much harder work than the spomb who stays open.
@@DiaryOfAnAverageCarpAngler bought the big version. Works just fine...spider arms stay open after hitting the water and during recovery. Perhaps the plastic spider arms need to be more flexible after time. So performance x spod 👍 competition 👎
Used this a few times now, doesn't retrieve nowhere near as good as a spomb in my opinion. More awkward to fill so it's spombs for me all day long mate 👍
Doesnt this thing only open if you land it on its side? All spombs are nose heavy so they naturally hit the water nose down. Having to land this on its side just seems like an absolute nightmare
Awful things. Doesnt open half the time and really awkward to fill up especially if you have a lot of feed to get out. Dot spod is far better for dry ingredients but anything sloppy needs to be a spomb.
Yeah I got one fairly early on when they was being sold via taska. Good bits of kit.
Glad you like them as well. You were a trend setter again then ;) 👍

Still a splash with this but I feel you don't get that iconic hollow sounding noise that spombs make that any me 🤣 mines still going strong 👍

Good to see others having a similar experience to me with them 👍

I think there distribution is slowly growing so hopefully will be easier to come by soon

A lot of people do really like the dot spods. 👍

Nice informative review cheers tight lines

Been thinking of getting one a while. Reckon I will now 👌
I think there worth it bud
Same here thanks for the review !

I cant say I have noticed that myself but I might just be getting lucky 🤣

@@erics1207 interesting that iv not used the smaller one so may be the case!
@@DiaryOfAnAverageCarpAngler oh, sorry...mistake...
O is that supposed to happen or do you have to activate it some how ie twist it some were sorry for the stupid question lol.

Each to there own bud. I still carry a spomb as a back up. What ever works for you is the one! 👍
I did notice you filled it by hand while demonstrating it. That’s a fail for me when your using a wet mix
You can fill by scooping too
It can be filled one handed and scooped I just done it that way that time. 👍

Nope it opens no Matt how it hits the water , within reason! it's just any impact opens the magnets 👍
Enjoying your videos...
Pretty new to carp fishing... what length and tc were the rods you were using on weybred no 1 pit? 🐠🎣
I use 12ft 3.5lb for almost all my fishing. Cheers glad you like them. 👍
Can you use it for short under arm cast ?
Does it still open ?
Maybe iv not tried it as if fishing close in not really a need to use a spod. But I'd imagine it would open.
Nice channel to come across. New subscriber here. Cheers 🎣 🚀
Thanks. Glad you enjoyed 👍
A1 video 👍 I'm Waseem from Pakistan
I like your monkey climbers!
Keeping it old school ;)

Always interesting to hear another opinion. Thanks for watching.
Not that easy to fill don’t cast that well at long range sorry but spomb all the way
