Wow! What another fantastic Saturday with the AHC upload! Hands down to Mike and team for the quality of work they poured into the restoration. You guys have DEEP pockets to replace all the bolts. Hope you get to enjoy your fruit of labor very soon!
Man you guys are great. Beautiful shots, make everything look easy, you’re organized and also your shop is very clean. You’re motivating me to get in gear on my projects even though I’m down with a bum foot. You guys deserve kudos 👍
3:44 is the orientation of this bushing have to be precise ? i mean the angle of the flat metal part where the 2 bolts go, getting it horizontal with the arm himself by eye is enough ?
7:37 i had to drill mines sadly and you cant purchase those special bolts, there must be something that do the trick on the market. Do you have to had loctite to theses i heard they have some from factory
The hub and trailer arm are sold as an assembly. And to your point, the screws are not available to purchase. However, you can always find another style of bolts, as long you have the correct thread pitch
We sourced these parts a few years ago. Most of the parts were available from the dealers. The few that was missing, we were able to find them, thanks to our community.
Great question. Since the rear spindle and trailing arm come as an assembly, there's no torque spec on it. We applied a small amount of loctite and "tighten" them.
@@ahcgarage Thanks for the reply. i am currently redoing my suspension and will be at that step shortly. 1 other question if you have time? i asked in the other video of the B18C rebuild, was wondering who makes the crankshaft snout tool used when installing the oil pump? Thanks again and look forward to more videos.

those OEM new parts must be recent reissues from Honda not NOS because the label has QR code. There was no such thing as QR codes when the EM-1 was released. lol.....
Hello from Vienna... From where you get original parts for the Youngtimer. I have a big problem to get parts for my Honda Accord CH 6 Hatchback 2002...If you can Help. Motorcode F1b2 1.8 100kw/136ps.. Which parts from inother Honda I can take????
I typed a long reply with instructions for you and it disappeared 😭. But there is a great business in Japan I recommend that you can order Honda parts for your Accord. It’s called Amayama. I use them many times (I am in USA) when I can’t find a part. Also their prices are usually better than a dealership in USA. Hope this helps.
@@330arr Amayama kenne ich gewisse Teile ja aber auch nicht alles.. Honda Accord CH 6 Hatchback war ein EU model daß in England gebaut wurde... Jedoch scheitert es an den Mechanikern. Da kein Interesse besteht.

Wow that em1 its fresh love it i personally are gonna do similar to my Da chassis
Mikes arms do look bigger after installing the trailing arm bushings
Haha 😆

If you’re DIYer, it’s best for you to mark the positions. We have done quite of few of these trailing arm bushings, so we have an eye for them.
Don't forget to loose and retigh all suspension bolts with suspension load. 🤓
Later on this series, you will see us, preload the suspension, index the bushings and torque the fasteners to specs

@@ahcgarage thanks a lot
is it at all possible to restore and acquire parts for an EK9? Interior, exterior etc?
Depends the build you are going for. For an OEM+ setup, that’s the way to go
@@ahcgarage yea I'm mostly looking for factory interior & exterior parts
Hey Mike, was there any Oem part that you could not find after searching high and low? Just curious because I know almost everything is discontinued.
We sourced these parts a few years ago. Most of the parts were available from the dealers. The few that was missing, we were able to find them, thanks to our community.
What powder coating color did you use on the trailing arms?
I have an original owner 99 EM1 that I want to get bushings done on sometime soon. I just need to find a shop that does it.
What did you guys torque the 4 torx spindle bolts to? Unfortunately there is no specs in the shop manual and see various specs online.
Great question. Since the rear spindle and trailing arm come as an assembly, there's no torque spec on it. We applied a small amount of loctite and "tighten" them.

@@ahcgarage Awesome! Thank you again.
I would of kept it OEM if possible. Were the parts hard to find (OEM)?
Most of the parts are discontinued. We do have all new oem parts to reverse back if we decided to do so in the future
Is this car going to be eventually up for sale, or is it already spoken for?
Unfortunately it will not be for sale. We build them for our own enjoyment and not for monetary gains
those OEM new parts must be recent reissues from Honda not NOS because the label has QR code. There was no such thing as QR codes when the EM-1 was released. lol.....
What powdercoat was used on the suspension?
What's the part # for the press tool you use for the trailer arm?
why did you go with these coilovers over the kw v3 you had
Wish ya could give us part numbers
what are the part numbers for the e brake cables?
This car a sima build?
It's just a shop build. Hopefully one day we get to that level
What kind and color is the powder coat? Satin black? Looks great!
That is the exact color

No. Lock tight or antisiez. Hope it stays in the show room
None of these fasteners require Loctite, as long you torque them to spec
