@@fluriekfluriek2913 Vegas? No. The point of a National Show is putting it in the relative center of the country. Dealers from the Northeast or Southeast are not going to want to take 4-5 days to drive a van load of merchandise to Las Vegas. Nor are parents going to want to take their kids there, necessarily,, as it's not a kid-friendly town. Did you see how many sub-teens were at the show in Cleveland?... Vegas is a town made to suck money from people, which is kind of antithesis to a show made to extract money from attendees. Money spent off the show floor means money not getting onto the show floor.

The space was there; blame the NSCC. There West Hall was empty; it could have been rented. Instead the National decided the East Hall & one of the areas off to the side was sufficient. They also could have employed a larger company to run their logistics & show and 99% of these issues would have been fine including lines & internet. They decided to book the usual hall, wait 3 years and just leave it as is.

The wait times were not ideal, but they were 1 - 1.5 hrs long. We ate pizza every day and I only waited maybe 20 minutes in line. The bathroom in the back with the neon sign had a line, but it continuously moved along. I love how some people exaggerate the negative.

Geoff thank you for everything you do. I love watching all your posts. But I have a question about the national. How do you think the national would do in Orlando. I know the convention center is massive there. Cleveland and Chicago is a tuff go for me. And I was just thinking if the national was to move around a little more it would bring more people. I was thinking to do a rotation between Orlando, Chicago and maybe Vegas. Tell me your thoughts. Or anyone tell me what you think. Thank you again for your time.

It's an interesting problem. The answer IMO isn't to have a 1 million person National w thousands upon thousands of tables. The question is how do you scale and still create efficiency within display and user experience? A 10,,000 table National only creates an experience where users cannot see the majority of tables. How do you create this experience and keep the collectors and convention attendees in mind? Perhaps segregating partially by sport of different halls, maybe it's vetting the dealers and the inventory they plan to bring to create a diverse experience where patrons will be able to visit a large volume of the tables. Maybe it's having multiple locations with a main hub and a better way to vet cards and have locations that have commonality among dealers. The one thing you hear over and over is there is so many tables and the feeling of it being overwhelming. That sounds like a wonderful problem. But it's still a problem.

  • @SportsCardJungle

The Cleveland IX center has 1 million square feet of exhibit space, the DES center in Rosemont, IL has 840,000 square feet of space; the McCormick Place center in Chicago, IL has 2.6 million square feet of space (the largest convention center in the US). Maybe Fanatics can pass around the hat to all of the major sports leagues and build one massive convention city. One other thought, there could also be better organization (i.e. all vintage in one area, dealers specializing in one sport or have multiple smaller tables in specific sports areas, pop culture in one area). If there was better organization, there would be better flow of traffic and the show promoters would know which area to give a bigger space to the following year. This would also allow for more venues with multiple rooms to be included in the shows rotation.

McCormick Place hosted the '93 National, the only problem is that it's inconvenient to get to from the airport, the hotels are not connected to the venue, and most people will need to Uber to and from their hotel to get there. DES has 2.2 million square feet if you use all of the halls in the venue...which may be needed.

Once Trump gets reelected and the economy gets better I think the National might have to cancel being in Chicago either in 2026 or 2027 & rent a stadium that has tons of space around tbe stadium also. I dont think vegas is really the answer cuz its not quite kid friendly. Putting it in a stadium would not only be cool but seems like where its actually headed. I went to my first one this year and when I pulled I saw how massive the place was and couldn’t believe that that wasn’t even enough space for the event. One thing that is over looked is everyone has backpacks and people pulling literal suitcases around(which i thought was extremely annoying). It’s almost like this kind of event for how massive it is needs to be outside because there r only so many places that can hold an event like this. Also it should 100% have longer hours it’s just not simply enough time for the demand. I don’t think this is a good idea but it almost feels like there should be time slots for the corporate booths to get your redemptions and think kind of stuff to minimize the wait times especially for PSA. Also idk if the national knows what sports booths do but it feels like there was way to much vintage like way way to much… to me so much junk cards.

Grow the hobby? Most of Geoff’s videos are about super high end cards that 99% can’t afford. Most UA-camrs in the hobby speak to a niche group of collectors as the average collector on an average budget can’t even relate to these guys. Just watch most UA-camrs who went to the National and their videos on their big purchases last week and tell me how many people in the hobby can afford those cards?

Why would you keep getting bigger spots? Not everybody needs to attend the shows. You can’t talk about kids being the future and then suggest Las Vegas as a location because it is horrible for children. San Diego Comic Con has a cap- not everybody gets to sell at or attend. They still do well over 100,000 in attendance. Actually San Diego wouldn’t be bad for the National. Great city for people of all ages.

CC2 not being able to get a dealer table while a lot of old guys had 5+ tables of flea market items is a joke.

I know New Orleans gets a bad rap, but the Morial Convention center has 1.1 MILLION sq feet of usable display space. and New Orleans has over 600 hotels and tons of stuff to do for tourist. New Orleans would be a great spot for the National and it is in the South central part of the country. I would love the National to rotate and hit different parts of the country. No reason it shouldn’t hit Vegas/LA/New York/Dallas/Chicago/Atlanta, etc.

Geoff - Can you help us get a SOCCER ONLY section in Chicago next year? It would be so cool to have an area inside the show the soccer community could gather. Help us make that be a reality in 2025. We could help promote the World cup in 2026

As a card carrying Geoff Wilson hater for the last 3 years I must say, this last week has made me flip on him and his content, completely....he's dropped his shtick camera personality and actually acted like a NORMAL dude, all the intro music is no longer hokey cringe, and the content is actually entertaining...good job Geoff, you've won me over.

Not enough space for Card Collector 2? Big miss by the National who should be accommodating top social accounts to grow the hobby - too many old guard at the National, which is why despite playing nice right now, Fanatics is coming to eat their lunch ... National is too lazy, keeping it comfortable toggling between Chicago and Cleveland when there are so many other great locations out there

Only the kids want this loser set up. Long time dealers run the show, not some punk who just started and has his mouth open in position for every top dawg he meets.

i think Atlantic City is way better than the last 2 venues and its not even close, tons of places to eat/sleep & everything is walking distance..1 thing that needs to stop, and i love watching the youtube videos but now its like everyone is walking around filming content and getting in peoples way and theyre all making the same videos and thats not good.

I think AC is still a realistic option too. Plenty of places to stay nearby and eat like you said.
