Brian has been there from the beginning and it takes balls to take on the role he did to keep the band alive. I love Trevor but this is one of the best lineups they’ve had. The soul is still there!
I normally would agree but without Trevor the band just does not have the same energy on stage. Brian's vocals are okay but his stage work could use work, i do hope he learns to be more dynamic on the stage. The loss of Trevor will be felt forever with this band, i do hope the the best for them since they are my favourite band but goddammit, i miss Trevor!

Last time I saw these guys live it was in the 2010's sometime at the Bluemoose in Iowa CIty, I was protecting a random stranger I didn't even know in a wheel chair while having a pit utterly beat the living day lights out of me and him... We got the dude in the chair against the front rail, Ryan and Trevor started standing on the rail on either side of the dude trying to get fans to back off of us. Ryan and Trevor would reach down and check on me and pat me on the shoulder, handed me water and Trevor stopped the show to talk to the audience (I can't remember about what) and let Ryan check on me because I was getting my butt handed to me so hard he got worried haha. At the end of the show I wrote a note on my phone and held it up for Ryan and it read "You both are beautiful souls! I don't think I could have held through that with out either of you yelling at people or encouraging me. Thank you both!" Ryan looked at Trevor, Ryan grabbed a setlist Trevor grabbed a shirt and they handed them to me. My friends utterly lost it, we went to get pizza after and my friends asked if they could hold the setlist... That setlist and shirt are floating around in my keepsakes some where. RIP Trevor. Way to go Brian for carrying the Torch!

Someone once told me that Brian looks like he's holding an ice cream cone and I just can't get the image out of my head. He's killing it though and just know the audio you hear is probably straight from the board so it's probably not indicative to their actual live sound or mix the crowd is hearing.
Wacken stories: Lana Britz and I were walking back from an incredibly fun Prey For Nothing set when it started raining. The plan was to go get kitted out for the rain coz I was at WOA2023 and we wanted to be prepared for some floods so we could watch the bands later that night. As we took a shortcut backstage we realised we were not actually too far away from where The Black Dahlia Murder were performing and their set had just started. We could still make it. We decided that we were already wet and that our Sunken State boys would for sure be in that crowd so we may as well just go party! And honestly, this was one of the best memories of Wacken Open Air this year! It was like a full-circle moment for me! I used to host a lot of shows when I was first starting out as a promoter at THE BLACK DAHLIA ~ ALTERNATIVE MUSIC VENUE ~ around 2010 I think. The first time I watched Black Dahlia Murder was at WOA2016 when I was just helping run the metal battle in South Africa. South Africa won the battle that year. I was so proud to be a South African metalhead. The first time I met Sunken State was at the Wacken Metal Battle Sub-Saharan Africa 2019 heat. The second time I watched Black Dahlia was at home in 2020 when Sunken State opened for them at RAMfest. The third time I watched Black Dahlia (imagine being South African and being privileged enough to wish a big core band play live 3 times! #blessed) was at WOA24. And I got to watch them play with Sunken State - a group of musicians who I have loved working with the last few years. Who just won the Africa leg of the Wacken Battle. A Battle I now run. I got to crowd surfing for the first time in my life. to Black Dahlia. With my friends. From my country. At Wacken. Waving the South African flag. Running in a circle pit in the rain. BUT THE BEST PART? Is that it was all caught on camera! Dwayne Hees in the pits with the flag. Sean Gaisford crowd surfing with the flag. Zainab Hoseini cheering. All of us - Heidi Ziegel Mathew Swanepoel Pete Pistorius in the middle of the pit. with the flag. And at 12:05 -12:09 me, flying over the barrier, with The Black Dahlia Murder on stage in the background. At Wacken. With Sunken State. Coz Wacken Metal Battle. Man. I think I like this little life. 🖤🤘🖤
it seems like brian might be straining his voice after so many shows? the footage from his first shows, i think he had much stronger vocals, but maybe it's just the audio here
I love Brian but he needs to take care of his health and body, he's clearly having troubles to breath and sing (you can see him forcing his nostrils to open on Deathmask Divine). Start a diet and any physical activity, nothing too heavy, we love our chubby Brian but he needs to have the stamina to keep bearing the torch of the vocal duties!
