    That's intense. I don't know how you can watch everyone at once. So many people getting rolled around. I find I'm holding my breath waiting for the group to reappear. I hope you guys have a way of decompressing after a shift. It has to be stressful, even though you're pros. Thanks for your service!

    What a good set of waves and not one person tried to surf one.

  • @letshaveya

    Oh fuck that, as much as I still want to be surfing waves like that I know its not possible for me anymore. I would never go out without a leash anyway for this very reason and I am a decent swimmer too. I learnt a valuable lesson the one time I did go out wihout a leash and lost my board, if it wasnt for the fact I had fins on I dont think I would have made it back to the beach, I had to lay on the sand for about 10 minutes I was that tired from trying to swim in and avoid the sets coming through.
    Seeing this reminds me that im a 2-4ft rider these days.

      dude i made this mistake in Hawaii, i saw dudes out in the water without fins so i went in, life guards yelled at everyone to swim away from them, took all i had to get back to the shore.

    Must have been the guy who ditched his body board on the second bomb that got in trouble. Those were some seriously powerful waves. He must have been knocked silly by the next two.

    • @ManofWater
      @ManofWater  8 років тому +1

      yeah they usually run out with 1 fin and their buoy

    • @kolebrodowski739

      Haha uh 1 fin or 2 fins?

    • @ManofWater
      @ManofWater  8 років тому +4

      1 fin so they can use there opposite foot easier when in too sand, at least in huntington they do

    just saying i'm a north shore junior life guard and the life guard was supposed to grab the tube around the guy and swim sideways while supporting him out of the water, just wanted to point that out...but hey at least he is alright

    • @EthanJohnsonMay

      Just wondering. Isn't that only if the victim is unconscious?

    • @Tartenvlux
      @Tartenvlux 8 років тому +1

      And the victim is not supposed to release the tube and try to bodysurf the wave to get on the shore :)

      You don’t know what lurks beneath dude. There could be some serious rips and water movement given the size of the swell and the retaining wall at the Wedge. Plus, the dude who got stranded got his fins blown of but he was still trying to kick like he had fins. Trying to swim without fins in that tough of conditions when not swimming without them for a long time can be super tuff. On top of that, this shit is way bigger than any hurricane swell you would ever get. Even up here in the Outer Banks, shit rarely gets that bad. Florida has it easy compared to even NC, let alone the beast that is the Wedge.
