Highway Workers Safety Awareness ~ Steve Smith • Hazard Construction

Hazard Construction (Caltrans Contractor) Traffic Specialist Steve Smith narrowly avoided a fatal accident while working on SR-163.
While standing on the shoulder, a drunk driver hit an attenuator truck. The truck hit Steve in the back and knocked him 15 feet into the bushes. His coworker barely got out of the way, he could have been killed, both were in shock.
The young driver was coming from a club and was clearly inebriated. Steve walked away with only a few cuts and bruises.
Please don’t drive impaired, and stay alert for workers on the highway in construction zones.
