Nearer My God to thee - Lowell Mason (Catholic chant 151)
*"Nearer, My God, to Thee" is a 19th-century Christian hymn by Sarah Flower Adams, which retells the story of Jacob's dream.
It is based on a poem written by the English lady poet Sarah Adams and set to music by the American composer Lowell Mason.
It's a song that I often find myself singing when I feel the heaviness of life creeping up on me, or in moments of sudden loneliness.
It's even said to have been played by a band on the sunken liner Titanic until its final moments.

"주여, 임하소서"는 짧지만 강한 임팩트를 느낄 수 있는 단어의 집합체라고 할 수 있습니다. '임하다'는 하늘의 신성이 인간이나 인간 세계에 미친다는 의미로, 주를 향한, 주께 다가가고자 하는 우리의 마음이 간절하게 나타났다고 볼 수 있겠지요. 꽤 많이 듣고 불렀던 성가 중 하나... 차분한 분위기를 이끌어감에 묵상을 또 한 번 느껴봅니다.^^
