Easily the most informative video about the Viltrox 27mm, most others seemed rushed and without the practical usage. Very helpful for me and my style of shooting.
Thank you!
Has anyone tried the macro extension tubes on this lens, I wonder how much closer you can get
I own this lens on A6700 and I hear yours "You won't mind the size and weight once you use this lens" and this is so damn true. I was worried as I waited for the lens to arrive. After 3 months of extensive use, I am blown away...I was thinking of going FF for a while and this lens kinda put me back.
It's a great lens!
This and the 75 1.2 are now my main kit on the X-T5.
That's a nice kit.
Great video. I didn’t think I much liked the 27 fov when I did a quick test of the pancake - it seemed “boring” compared to the 16 or 35 - but your pictures with the Viltrox have changed my tune.
I didn't like the 27mm focal length either, until I used this lens for a longer period of time. Now I love it.
Great review and great shots of Rome!
Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the video, the size doesn’t bother me and I am impressed within how sharp the lens is.
Thanks for watching! Same here.
The review was objective and informative, as usual!
I know it’s a long shot as it’s expensive but I’d love to see you review the Voigtländer 35mm f0.9 Nokton for the X-Mount.
Cheers
Thank you! That is going to a be a hard lens to get but I will try.
It looks amazing Andrei Viltrox did a great job with this one 👌😁
Couldn't agree more!
Fantastic work again, Andrei, thanks 👍🏻
I love this lens, it was all but a given, until recently, that I would get it. But, ultimately I prefer to add the 33mm LM WR to my 23mm LM WR, soon. Yes, it's more cost overall but then I have 2 more compact choices. Shame, as I do love the performance and the field of view. But the 23mm is tack tack sharp, wider for when needed, and it focuses mighty close, 0.2x, and the close up IQ is stunning.
My pleasure!
Have both 23 and 33 and just ordered this Viltrox. Peargear dropped the price quite a bit and for €460 I wanted to see for myself.
I don't think I could ever sell the 23 1.4 LM as an all-rounder. Love the close up capability but the out of focus areas are not the smoothest unless you really obliterate them by being up close. That's where the 33 comes in. But for me it's really too uniform across the frame, so less pop and I find the images flatter. Plus I'd never take both the 23 and 33 in one bag. At one point I was thinking of selling the 23 to keep the 18 and 33. But my reservations about the 33 held me back.
I like the idea of the 27 being a wider 56. Picked up a cheap 56 1.2 LM WR and it's great ... unless you want to capture a moment or spontaneous shot. And I must be doing that more than I thought given how frustrated I am with it.
So the 27 will probably pair with the 18. And I'll keep the 23 to pair with the 90 or 50-140. The viltrox 75 might replace the 56 and my Samyang 75. Both good, but really to have both is overkill.
That's where I see the Viltrox lenses outside of pro environments, consolidating multiple lenses.
@@brownbear100 thank you for sharing. I hope you enjoy the lens when it arrives.
Bravo pentru review| Ce obiective ai mai luat in excursia asta?
Multumesc! Doar asta.
It seems to be the greatest lens ever made!!
I can't wait to see a Sony E version of this lens!! 😍
But more importantly, I can't wait to see the next one in this Lens Line-up. If it is gonna be a wide-angle one or a shot-telephoto one. Like a viltrox 16mm f1.2 or a 50mm f1.2.
I would prefere a wide-angle as first for now, anyway. But I would surely buy all the collection of this viltrox Pro F1.2 Lens Line. That's kind of gear that makes you love the Aps-C Sensor and feel confortable with as well.
Totally agree! A 16mm f1.2 Pro would be great.
16MM 1.2 is never going to happen. If it does it would be bigger than the 75MM.
@@jjchockey yeah! But I don't mind for the size, I would really love his big size. I would just enjoy the possibility to have a wide-angle lens at the aperture at f1.2 to pair with the other ones in the Line up. People like me who don't care about the size would be very happy with.
But at the same time, they Made a 13mm f1.4 and it's not to big, compare to the bigger Sigma 16mm f1.4 and people don't care about his size.
The usability and the necesity use to be more important than the look and confort.
The most disappointing issue I see from this lens is actually lack of pop. It's the same old issue, solving CA comes at a price and that price is typically flatness. A 27/1.2 should behave like a 40/1.8 and that is a focal length and depth I am very well experienced with (*cough Pentax FA43/1.9 cough*), but for me so many of the sample images feel way flatter than a f1.8 equivalent. I've only had my Sigma 18-35/1.8 for a few weeks but I reckon it has much more depth and 3dness than what I have seen from this prime (which is a bit of a shame because I feel that is one of the reasons you get into primes in the first place).
But other than that I agree, this lens looks terrific in every other regard and combatting CA at the expense of 'pop' was prolly the right call. It's also priced great.
It has a bit of pop at f1.2 because of LOCA but after you stop it down, yeah, it is gone. It is hard to find a balance, but as you said I think they made the right call making it technically superb. Thank you for watching.
which fuji lens do you think has the most 3d pop ?
@@toxotis70 I’ve personally noticed it with the 60mm 2.4 macro, 35mm 1.4, 50-140mm 2.8. and weirdly the plastic 50-230 xc lens. I have the 18mm 2.0, 18-55, 16-55 and 27mm 2.8 and they don’t have the same effect.
Thanks. Can't wait for my copy, f/1.2 will be very helpful whe shooting live shows.
I hope you enjoy your new lens!
We need a comparison btw this and the sigma 30mm with some video tests.
The Sigma 30mm is softer than the Viltrox 27mm f1.2. The Viltrox has better autofocus for photo and video.
Ok I have some great Fuji lenses but this one is a step above everything. Will get the 75mm also.
The 27mm and 75mm make a great combo.
great review
Thank you!
Thanks so much for your perspectives. I’d be very curious to hear how you feel this Viltrox lens does with AF-C eye tracking with moving subjects vs the Fuji 33 or 23 WR lenses. Thanks!
Thank you! I will try and make a video like that in the coming months.
Very nice review! I'm a working professional and very picky about IQ. Sharpness is a fundamental thing nowadays IMO. For the price, I was very disapointed with sharpness from fuji 33mm 1,4 (off center, not even corner) when shooting portraits, even at f2.2. Eyes (off center) very soft but shirt (in the center) is sharp. Unusable for for me. But this looks very promising and for a much cheaper price!
The XF 33 1.4 being called unusable and not sharp is quite funny and dumb at the same time. It's like calling all the 50mm full frame equivalent lenses unusable (other than the RF 1.2 and Sony GM since they are the only mainstream 50mm lenses that are sharper than the 33 1.4).
@@destinybond then i have a bad copy because its not sharp enough.
@@timkristensson2279 it hasn’t been 3 years since release so maybe get it checked or replaced under warranty.
The Viltrox 27mm f1.2 is sharper than the 33mm. At f1.4, it is as sharp as the 33mm at f4. At f4, you can see more fine details on the 27mm. This means it takes more advantage of this 40MP sensor. I think the 33mm is a pretty sharp lens, maybe you got a bad copy or you need to update your cameras firmware, it may be an autofocus problem.
@@AndreiDimaReviews I send it to fuji and they said it was as it should be. I know how to test sharpness and how to use both af and mf.
I have this lens on my radar for a while. Still doubting a bit.
I love the 33, size IQ, pairs nice with a 16 and the 75.
This might require a 56 In addition? Gap to big maybe?
Would you sell your 33 in favor for this?
How would you pair this with other lenses?
13, 27, 56 and 75 (not going to sell the 75)
You got my like, like always ;)
If I were you I would sell the 56, keep 16, 27, 75
The Viltrox 27mm f1.2 is sharper than the 33mm, at f1.4 it is as sharp as the 33mm at f4 so if sharpness is something you need then sell the 33mm and get this one. I would use the 13, 27 and the 75. I know there is a gap between 27 and 75 but you can crop.
@@AndreiDimaReviews
Would you sell your Fuji lenses I favor of these?
@@slglasius For professional work, yes.
@@AndreiDimaReviews thnx for answering. Think I see where you are going. Viltrox is better. Fuji more enjoyable
Great review - only thing is I didn’t see which side was which for the comparison with the 33 (or at least it wasn’t obvious on the screen). Was the 27 left or right?
Thank you! On the bottom part of the screen you can see the settings like, iso and focal length. On your left is the 27mm and on the right the 33mm.
Just picked up an X-t4 + Viltrox combo for 1200.00.... amazong deal, the X-t4 is in mint condition and the lens is literally 2 months old.
Cool, I hope you enjoy them!
Thanks for video - when in manual focus I’ve been noticing the distance meter - which I have set to film mode and feet vs meters - that the distance markers are wildly inaccurate… as if Viltrox has not yet done a good calibration of this tool. Are you seeing the same problem?
I did not. I will check again tomorrow and come back with an answer. I don't have the lens with me at the moment.
I much prefer character over extreme sharpness.
Clinical perfection is sterile and boring.
The lens has a swirly bokeh but that is it when it comes to character.
@@AndreiDimaReviews
Yeah, not my kind of lens.
I'm sorry buddy, even in your Utube version, the 33 is more sharper...
Watch it on a 4K display, the Viltrox is sharper, buddy.😉
Awful size! Never see compact lenses from this brand. Aged!!!
And you're never going to when it comes to F1.2 lens. If you want compact just go get a F2 lens.
The size is not awful for a f1.2 lens that has impressive image quality. Do you know any compact f1.2 lens with autofocus?
@@MOTOJendaysFuji managed to make the OG 56MM 1.2 almsot half the size and weight of the 27Mm 1.2 or 75MM 1.2.
@@jjchockey The only thing the 56 1.2 is almost double in is price.
The 56 1.2 is 1lb. The 27mm 1.2 is 1.2lb while the 75 1.2 is 1.5lb. So that's quite simply not true.
The 27mm is about 2mm longer in size while the 75mm is about 8mm longer in size. Both the Viltrox are a bit thicker for sure. But acting like the 56 1.2 is small and light in comparison to the 2 lenses is silly.
@@jjchockey FYI. The 75 1.2 matches the 56 1.2 sharpness for half the price. On top of being longer focal length. The 27 1.2 is also just as sharp for the same price of the 75 1.2. These lenses are like $500 for 1st party premium image quality of lenses that Fuji is commanding $1k for.
