@@death_parade drone operators may stalk their targets for hours, days, weeks even. They stop being faceless after that point. Attack planes go in do their mission and fly back, completely different.
I wonder how much lag there is. I'd love to see a comparison video with the operator monitor on one side of the screen, and realtime video of the drone on the other side. To see what's the difference. How laggy the controls are. I guess the nominal landings are probably automatic, but during crosswinds - the operator prolly has to takeover. And i can't imagine piloting something this expensive from the other side of the globe, with control lag in tens or even hundreds of miliseconds.
It has to be super weird at first, knowing you've killed someone 1000's of miles away and going to eat dinner with your spouse that same day and doing it again tomorrow. Idk, something about it is unnatural, but also good in a way? We keep our people safe, but it also shields us from the devastation of war...

Guys I need help, I’m 18, just graduated, and I want to join the Air Force to pilot the drones but I don’t know what the job is called so i don’t know what to tell my recruiter, anyone know what it is ?
Well you can’t go straight into the Air Force as a rpa pilot because all Air Force pilots are officers. What does that mean for you as an 18 year old? Try to get into the Air Force academy, go to college where there is an AFROTC program, or graduate college and then apply for OTS.

a year late but apparently the PTSD these guys suffer is some of the worst in US military. A lot of the strikes they pull are on the wrong target, often civilians, a lot of these guys have unfortunately ended their own life from not being able to deal with it
It'd be a nightmare if the tables were turned on us. I think its too big of a risk and they could actually use that type of high level thinking and engineering to heal the world rather than destroy it
