What are some of your NO regret pieces?
I felt a back pack was too dorky or child like for me (am 35 yrs old) but after getting one anyway (ochre yellow Fjallraven), I use it so often!! Ochre goes with all my black and grey and brown jackets too, and the cost per wear is now down to 1,40 from the 85 bucks it cost haha
A dark olive Uniqlo x Lemaire knee length wool coat. Works with everything!
matching sweatpants & hoodie/sweatshirt :)
A discounted pair of Coach black leather loafers. I’ve had them over 10 years and they still look brand new. ❤
My black Rayban sunnies and my white tennis shoes I wear with jeans.
I often find if I wait a little longer to buy the piece I really want rather than a substitute, I'm much happier, even if I have to pay full price.
Yes! 💯!!
That is so true. I bought Ilse Jacobson boots and I almost returned them because of the price. When I decided to keep them, I realized that they are such good boots not only for rain but also for snow as well. Quality is far better than quantity.
Yass to the power of waiting for 'perfect' piece!
Agreed, because sometimes a sale makes us buy something less than perfect, which ends up not being such a deal after all.
That is exactly the same with me. I thought i was the only one who doesn’t mind paying full price if i love the item!
A comfy bra! Because it's such a hassle when you don't like your bra, when you find the right one you have to appreciate it.
My biggest purchase regrets are a leather jacket, a wool blazer and some pricey plain white t shirts... I watched too many 'capsule wardrobe essentials' videos and persuaded myself I needed these things. I never wear them, they are not my style. So absolutely agree that everyone's essentials can be entirely different
I have these on my to buy list, but in reality no where to wear them. I’m glad I read this comment.
100% agree. Those "essentials" might work for whoever is recommending them, but they're not going to work for EVERY body, lifestyle or workplace.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your inclusion of women who run the gamut in terms of size, age, and color. It is actually pretty rare, and shows real sensitivity on your part. Thank you for creating videos that help us look our best and continue to feel relevant--no matter where we are in life.
I love when creators take the time to find diverse examples when they share fashion photos! ❤❤❤
I have clothes that i keep 15-20 years. From resonable price. Testing brands that suit the budget, the quality and style will need time. But as you find what suit you and what best for you. You will be happy and enjoy per wear with your closet. And take care each piece, its a tresure and it will last long. And just add some extra accessories either bag, shoes and jewels that will brighten up your day and have fun.❤❤
Living in a hot country I never regret Linen basics, pants, shirts, shorts / they work double time in the summer. Look so much more sophisticated than t-shirting
Yessss! Lovely!
What country? Mind me askin?
Would love tips on linen. I always look disheveled wearing it
@@kusu2010 South Africa, it gets rather hot in the summers on the highveld
@@user-om8mz3ey6k I always look for good quality, light weight linen . 100% Linen wears much better than blended fabrics. If I am buying fabric to make clothing Irish linens is usually the best grade, and finest quality. But creases are part of the territory. But they crease less than other types.
1. Good outerwear
2. Good jewelry
3. Good bag
4. Comfortable shoes
5. Good belt
6. Cool sunglasses
7. Go to layering piece
I live full-time from a campervan with my husband. We took early retirement to explore, but life does call us back to our family-centric home-bases in New England around the holidays. As you might imagine, I don’t have need of or space for dressy boots, any shiny, sparkly, velvety, holiday garb or bulky sweaters or sweater-dresses in the van…but I don’t regret having kept some fave pieces for our New England winter holiday times. I store them carefully with family. They are high quality, timeless, pieces that drape beautifully, and I think, look great on me! I smile every year when I lift them up into the light of day for another time of gathering and celebrating.
Oh...il mio sogno!
Per ora in camper solo per le vacanze😊
Ma certo che si impara ad essere minimalisti.
My cashmere sweaters. They were more expensive than what I normally spend on clothes but they provide so much warmth that they were totally worth it to me. No need for bulky, uncomfortable sweaters anymore, and I even think that I'm saving on heating on the house since I bought them.
Yes I recently questioned why on earth I was wearing such heavy sweaters, it made my walks more like a workout. I underestimated that excess weight.
I learned very early on that quality clothEs are a better investment than a lot of cheap clothes.
Your shorter hair is so flattering ❤
i agree about sunglasses. i got myself a decent (designer, bet not overly expensive) pair about 2,5 years ago and i truly think they elevate even the simplest outfit
Such an easy way to tie the look together!
In the same vein as sunglasses, I never regret spending up for a great pair of glasses. I wear mine every day and now have a few nice pairs I can swap between depending on my outfit. Plus, when you find a pair that’s comfortable on your face it’s such a game changer
Christina, thank you for reiterating that enjoying what you already own is really important, especially at this time of year when we're being pressurised to buy, buy, buy all the time.
I feel the pressure too ❤️ being content with our stuff is an act of rebellion sometimes
Always a classic silk scarf!
Running shoes! Running shoe models change slightly with every new release. I absolutely love a version of Altra from a couple of years ago, so I just purchased 4 (yes 4) pairs on Amazon so I can keep enjoying this specific fit. I do not regret this at all even though I’m typically a very minimal shopper. I’m actually quite pleased with myself, lol.
Love my torin plush. Trail runners from heaven.
I’m a cardigan person. I used to wear blazers more often but as I’ve gotten older, I like the ease of a cardigan. I love linen for warm weather and merino wool for cool. I still want at least one versatile blazer though. I
Thanks for your videos Christina! I have never regretted spending on good sunglasses, boots, cashmere cardigan, and a down coat. I just wear these over and over again. In terms of non-clothing items, I have never regretted spending money on good skin, care, foundation, hair care products.
Number 8 is so true ! I have a list of vintage designer pieces and have been slowly crossing things off the list (JPG bondage shirt was my recent purchase and im so excited!)
I like spending my money on clothes. i like wearing special pieces that take me a lot of time and effort to find, especially since I make a budget for these pieces, and its a conversation starter because i learn the pieces history and info. For me, its no different from other hobbies and i hate how (mostly) women are shamed to think clothes are a useless purchase
💯! You really put into words how it can be a value-add experience 🫶 keeping it fun, memorable and not toxic I love it!!
One of the things I never regret buying is items with sentimental value! I have a beret I bought on a trip to the local haunted house, and a necklace that was bought with my mom, and several pieces of jewelry from my first trip out of the country, and so much more. And every time I wear them, I'm reminded of our adventures together, and how much they mean to me!
Another thing I never regret is supporting small businesses! Even if I don't keep the item forever, I'm happy to have put my money there, and they're often the most unique, funky pieces in my wardrobe.
Thanks for sharing your list...I completely agree. My best purchase, a thrifted Pendleton wool coat in a great color for me (like, 12 dollars!!). The worst, a pair of 👠...heels that a 40 year old might wear...but at 69 not for me.
WOW what a score!!!
I like this background for filming. If that spot is the most convenient for you, keep it! Also, quality footwear is critical. While I love the look of a heel, I do a great deal of city walking. I just don’t have the tolerance for shoes that hurt.
I like how you mentioned belts. There is a local leather shop where I live, and I have several custom made belts with fancy buckles and they can really tie an outfit together.
So good!
I have a friend who makes leather stuff and she made a belt for me to wear with dresses. I absolutely adore it, I was able to customize it to a T and it really elevates an outfit
You look amazing! I love the hair, the colour and shape of the blouse, the layering jewelry, everything looks so perfect! ❤
Haven't watched yet, but you look SO GOOD 😍 I love that hair and brown top combo with the gold accents.
My best buy for the Scottish weather is a sturdy trench coat with a hood.
This video reminded me of that one "Friends" episode where Monica buys very uncomfortable boots and she refuses to admit her feet hurt :D
lol she was stronger than me in that moment - I literally couldn’t walk!!!
@@Christinamychas 🤣
Great episode😂
yes! I have been drawn to the Jcrew cocoon coat for 7 years and found one used for only $50 this fall. I feel so much more put together and automatically stylish when I wear it over anything.
Thank God you are always there for us Christina! Not sure what we would do without your vlogs♥️♥️🥺🥺
Thank you so much for this video. Loved it. I also loved that you’re featuring a variety of fashionable ladies from fuller size, women of color, and glamorous older women too. It’s so exciting to see so many different styles and representations. Keep it coming! ❤✨🖤✨💜✨
It’s clear you put a lot of thought into this list, and thank you! I’m planning on doing a 2024 low buy where I invest in very few but high quality pieces and this helped inform what I might consider purchasing!
It's mesh blouses for me 😊 they don't wrinkle, they dry fast, you can wear them on hot summer days (if opaque enough) and also as a 2nd layer on colder days, they fit with formal and smart casual ❤
I'd love to not regret buying white clothing because I love the look, but no matter how careful i am they somehow get a stain the first day I wear them! I envy anyone who can make high quality crisp white tees and shirts their wardrobe staples 💟
HAHA omg same - but I do keep buying white t-shirts. I do this to myself 🥲😅
Take it off as soon as you come home and when out eating put a napkin on your breast or pants.
Overnight Oxy soaks are your friend
I always love white (or cream) looks, then remember that we have 2 shaggy dogs looking for somewhere to dry their wet chins! And then I buy another pair of jeans & another black top….. 😂
I bought a beautiful cream color suit and spilled blueberry yogurt on the skirt. It never came out despite several cleaning attempts. I still have a handful of white items and I love how they look. They do make me conscious of all the ways to stain clothes though - food, brushing up against a car in winter, oil while cooking, you name it.
That tiny bag 🤣
I know right? 😂
A heavy winter coat
Definitely!
I can relate to footwear that tear up your feet and it's such a shame we only find this out once we leave the house in them. Then (if you bought them new) it's too late to return them! 😖
So many shoes need to be broken in...even quality shoes....
I never regret buying a blue sweater in cashmere from Davida. I have used it SO much and love it every time. It’s about 5 years old now, but everytime we meet each other in my wardrobe, it feels new. And in the same time like an old friend 💕⭐️
I bought a black YSL camera bag. I carry it nearly every day. It fits everything I need and when I travel, I can pop it in my tote and still easily carry it with me and have the perfect bag for day or night at my destination.
I subscribed to your channel today. I'm glad I found it; I already apply many of these tips, but it's always nice to have a fresh perception of fashion and style. Thanks for sharing. 👗
love all these things and how they can translate to any style. and, of course, i love the diverse bodies and people you show as examples; amazing style inspiration!
The best purchases I not only not regretting, but happy that I bought them:
1. Glasses/sunglasses with all the bells and whistles. Bought some years ago for $1200. Gucci frame - $400, the rest are lenses. Prescription by a very good doctor. Transformers, astigmatic, anti-reflective, done exactly for my eyes. Wear them every day, all the time, in any weather. Pay per wear is minimal.
2. Leather maxi coat, black. Bought in my teens (the very first expensive piece of clothing) for $1000. Cannot wear in the summer or when the temperature is below zero, but perfect for spring/fall. Love it. Feel beautiful and stylish in it.
3. Ultra-light down jacket with a hood. Bought 5 years ago in Tokio, on Ginza, in UNIQLO flagship for about $80 (paid in yen, do not remember how much exactly). Was a limited edition (seasonal) - beautiful rich darker green color. Never saw this color again in UNIQLO. Wear it so much, it is not even funny. Any season.
On the other hand, there are purchases I rather regret.
1. Expensive fine jewelry. I almost never wear them, they live in the safe. So, I paid thousands for emeralds (my favourite stone) and diamonds, and do not wear them. 😞 I wear costume jewelry, and I do not care that it is easily tarnished - I simply buy new. They cost around $10 apiece, and if I wear a new one for a couple of months, the cost per wear is in the cents.
2. Blasers/ formal jackets. I do not really like them, so they live in the closet. I wore each a handful of times. :-(
It's not often that I buy things I end up regretting, but for things that I don't regret buying, the things you listed in this video are pretty accurate! One of my long-term wish list items is to invest in some hiking boots so that I can level up my fitness game! I know that once I have those in my possession, it's going to be worth the money spent. Thanks for the inspiration, Christina! 😊
My beautiful wool designer coat and Margiela western plain black boots!! Classic and will last forever through time and trends!!
Agree with all of your items! My no regret item is a great pair of black leggings. Makes me feel cozy and chic, especially in monochrome. Great for travel days.
Comfy pants are never a regret! Agree!
In your anti-examples I found my favourite maxi Cos quilted bag, which I grab namely every other day, it is sooooo versatile for me😂 We are all verydifferent, and it is great❤ Big love from Ukraine and thank you for another great video🎉
I love that the examples you used are inclusive in terms of body type/size and skin color, thanks for that Christina:)
I just found your channel, and I have to say I'm so happy to see the diversity of models and outfits you show in your examples. I love seeing gorgeous, trendy styles on all body types.
Classic black luxury bag & classic designer heels … they take every outfit up many notches
Love the inclusiveness in the examples .. definitely makes me want to keep following as I am represented in what you are addressing.. easier to connect
My little bag is a leather bag with a chain strap - the strap was plated copper and wore away immediately but I replaced it with a stainless steel chain that I absolutely adore and it's perfect for everything!
The microscopic pink bag 🙈😂
You are on point on each item! Good quality items are worth the investment.
I love this video!!!! I just purchased a camel wool coat to add to the wardrobe and I do not regret it one bit!
With winter upon us, I'm a cardigan girl and I have some flannel-lined pants that are so comfy-cozy.
I just bought a wool blended hat for the winter and I think that it s the best purchase i ve ever made ;) it is definitely a no regret item
Quality sweaters - wool, cashmere, merino…sweater weather is when I feel most like myself, and great sweaters make it even better. I also have a firm requirement for comfortable shoes - usually full grain leather. I have a pair of leather pumps my mom got me for band concerts in middle school (04ish) and they still come with me to job interviews, 20 years later
Quality footwear is essential for me.
Especially after the blisters those boots I wore gave me, AGREE!
Fav purchases: 1) Wool Black coat from eBay second hand
2) Ankle boots where expensive but I love
3) second hand fancy cotton dress I call my boss dress always wear for important days at work or if I feel rubbish
You look lovely today and I think your background is perfect! 😊
Great video! ❤
Thank you for the video ❤️ I love this question: "Would it make me happy to have spent this money?" 😍 Being honest with your feelings is a game changer in all areas of life but we we don't ask ourselves often enough. 🥺
My no regrets: jeans 👖 a good quality dress 👗 shoes 🥾👠 gloves 🧤 and cosmetics 💄
And Christina, thank you!! You inspire me a lot every time! ❤️❤️❤️
Can I just say Christina, your hair looks beautiful in this video :)
Your hair looks great!
after I figured out my Kibbe type, no item I purchased since then I ended up regretting;) I think what helps avoiding unnecessary purchases that are not functional within your wardrobe is making a list of things you like, planning how you can combine them with items that already exist in your wardrobe, finding several versions of the piece you want to buy and then sitting on them for several months before actually purchasing the sought-after article of clothing.
I love good sophisticated coats and sunglasses, game changer in outfits 😎
Love the content! ❤❤❤
New to your channel..thx for all your wisdom!!🎉😊
Wow girlie, your muscles are popping! Nice job 💪
I splurged on a vintage YSL silver cuff. I have never handed over cash more gleefully and will wear it until I die.
Amazing vídeo :) love your content ❤
That haircut is 💯💥💗
I've got a bone spur and arthritis in one of my feet so I have to be careful about footwear. I wear Chacos spring, summer, and early fall. I like the ones with the double strap and no toe loop. I'm on my third pair in about 15 years, so they last me a long time too, even with daily wear.
For colder temps I have a pair of Aline ankle boots from Cloud Footwear. They are soft, waterproofed leather with wool lining, with flexible, but somehow still supportive soles, so my feet are warm and dry and comfy all day.
Both pairs of shoes can go with just about any outfit, from jeans to leggings to a cute dress or skirt.
No regrets!
For me, if I’m not wearing a turtleneck in the winter, I’m just constantly cold. I love all of these crewneck sweaters that I see online, but I’m never warm enough. Function over form in this case.
100% agree!
You have inspired me to add a wool coat to my wardrobe. I don’t have a “dress” coat, but recently got a parka that I love. So now, to find a good coat that I can love, on sale. Took me two years to find the parka!!
Def don’t sleep on the thrift store! So many gorgeous ones! ❤️❤️
4:37 had me cracking up 😂
I bought a pair of Tibi knee length boots, they were worth the money. Now I can wear a lot of my skirts without being mumsy, because the boots bring in some sharpness. And they are really comfortable. 😀
SO GOOD! No skin sandwiches as Amy, the Tibi founder, says haha
@@Christinamychas no skin sandwiches! 🤣
Love your videos
Christina, I love your videos and the way you talk about everything that makes you happy ❤
Could you please help us and explain more about how you organize your finances? And what is that app you use?
Thank you so much! Best regards from Brazil :)
💙A great video 👍👍👍Always ask yourself if you need it, before you purchase . Shop wisely. Thrift shop is always best. Never purchase anything full price. Always Clearance rack first. .if you don’t need it don’t purchase it. . Thank you, best wishes to all.
Quality foundation wear that feels like "butter". Yes it does exist. Supportive quality shoes. Cashmere and Merino wool sweeters. Fabulous classic coats & sunglasses. Yes i have to watch for sales so i can afford them. But they do come.😊
I recently heard someone break cost down to "how many hours I have to work to afford it" for a different mindset!
I'd say something in a nice material that doesn't make you sweat and pieces in colors you feel they suit you, which is tricky to find out sometimes but can really make or break it.
Where did you get the bag at 4:22 in the video? The medium sized cream one. I’m assuming that it’s convertible with a shoulder strap and also as a handheld bag?
Girl! Pop off! Those biceps in the cover photo!
Christina you’ve become my favorite UA-cam fashionista. I feel inspired watching your videos which feel less like a cash grab effort to make me buy crap I don’t need and more like advice on how to make the most of what I’ve got. I understand the need to accept sponsorships but it gets to a point where I just can’t watch. Stay cool.
I love the new hairstyle...
Great quality cargo pants
Good quality shoes is something I never regret. Also I finally realized I hated all my sunglasses because I never took time to really see what I liked and just bought whatever I found. So a few weeks ago I took the time to try one sunglasses and found a really great pair at winners that I take care of and wear proudly.
I never regret buying the charity shop mens blazers and women’s classic coats that elevate any outfit at a fraction of the cost of similar in high street shops and I feel very smug investing in high quality items at the cost of a couple of coffees 😀
I live in San Diego so my Jean jacket is my best purchase 👍🏼
Loveeeee a good denim jacket!
A qualiity white linen blouse ...
Where is the bag from??? I loved it
The boot incident reminded me of Monica's expensive boots in Friends 😂❤
Thank you Christina for your video. I would like to ask you if you know, if the fur vests, not real fur, are in fashion? I have two vests from 6 years ago and I think if I must declutter them. Or if I can wear them somehow. Thank you for your reply in advance!
cable sweaters in many colors
It’s time to declutter my closet. I wonder about my weight fluctuations? Am I getting rid of something that will fit within a year either way?
Hello from Sunny San Diego. Honestly, I didn’t own a coat until I was 18 and I didn’t see Snow until I was 28. I think for me out or where is probably a cute sweatshirt
(; in hawaii .. my outer wear is a japanese Hapi coat ... w
Ooh ahhh the thought of owning a regular coat !
Where are your gold hoops from please? They're lovely!
