    EDIT: R12 of the head should read 10sc, not 9sc
    Edit 2: Two typos...that's embarrassing! R19 should read: 2[inc, sc], 6[dec, sc], 4[inc, sc]
    Axolotl was voted by you as part of the "Knot My Idea" series, but I have launched a second chance draw for the other options on my Patreon. You'll be finding out the winner in a couple of weeks!

    Welp I teared up again, because this is so good and wholesome! One of the best axolotl renditions I've seen around!!
    The mouth seems to be a general problem for people and you have a great solution! Also, how cool is it that it's the same as the First Frog?!?! I do love cyclicity in a story, bonus points for real life!
    The detailing on the fronds and toes is really On Point, it looks both realistic and cute, which makes me SO happy!!
    Thanxalotl for sharing this with the world 😭😭😭😭😭

    Okay, this is the cutest crochet axolotl ever. Like you said, they're everywhere these days, but it was totally worth it for you to design another one. Love the gills (what you call fronds) and the little feetsies!
    One way you could make the mouth stay in is to sew a mouth-coloured yarn around a stitch on either side of the centre (between R1&2), from the inside, and loop the ends around the eye stalks before putting the caps on. I reckon that would allow you to adjust the pulling-in of the mouth _and_ the eyes, and then tie the ends together when you have the look you want. (I did this on a tiny nug I made for a Dragon Age fan.)
    Sad side note: From 11:11 to 19:30, the music sounds like tinnitus and it made my brain hurt so I had to mute the audio. Please avoid that song in future videos... :/

    In R19, I'm having a hard time with the count. Following the instructions, I am using only 29 of the 30 sc created in the previous round, so I have 1 stitch left over unworked at the end of the R19 instructions. [inc, sc, inc] = uses 3 sts, [6x dec,sc] = uses 18 sts (total 21), [4x inc,sc] = uses 8 sts (total 29). Thanks in advance for your help!

    Hello, so i was starting on this pattern but i have a hard time reading the pattern. I struggle with the R4 the 6[sc, inc] i now what the sc and inc means but im not sure what to do, do i need to make 6sc and then 6inc or do i need to make a 6inc?? Please help...

    • @ComplicatedKnots
      @ComplicatedKnots  3 роки тому +2

      Hi! Ok, so, the notation used throughout this pattern means that you repeat the thing in brackets a certain number of times. What R4 means is "Repeat a sc and then an inc, 6 times" or to put it in long form: sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc. You should end up doing 18 stitches in total.

      Hi! R6 could also be written as: inc, inc, inc, 9sc, inc inc inc, 9sc, for a total of 30 stitches in your round. Does that help?

    Are the eyes necessary to help keep the shape of the head? I'm hoping to crochet my own but these plastic ones look like they may add to the flatness of the side of the head

    Question! When you're doing the other side of the frills, do you turn him with his face away from you and work from the bottom up or keep him facing you and work from the top to the bottom?
    Also when you do the loopy bits do you start at the top of the frill and work towards the bottom?

    Your channel is amazing, and this guy is so cute! I'm finished with the body on mine and adding the fronds now. I'm not sure how to "repeat the process" on the second side. Where do you start and which direction does it face in order to get the fronds symmetrical with the first side and curling the same way? Does the second one more or less face backwards compared to the first?

    Just to be sure you are working in the round correct or do I slip stitch after every row? I'm attempting to start this project for my 18 autistic son it'll be a suprise for him

    Hi! Is there a typo on R12 of the Head? Should be sc 15 (instead of 14) or maybe sc 10 (instead of 9) otherwise there are only 41 stitches made (not 42). Lovely axo! Enjoying this so far.

      i did the math bc i couldnt figure out how i have an extra stitch on rnd 12. i believe it is supposed to be 10 sc instead of 9.

      Well spotted, it's meant to be 10 instead of 9, thanks for letting me know.

      I've just begun to crochet and these are adorable! I don't understand R12 though. I'd love it so much if anyone could help me out 😊
      Why is it 3(inc, SC) then 3(SC, inc)? Do you do one then the other? Or does it not matter which one I use, so long as I get 42 stitches?

    • @gv6571
      @gv6571 3 роки тому +2

      @@elizabethbachmann9717 Hi Elizabeth! Written out "long form", R12 would be: [inc, sc, inc, sc, inc, sc], 14 sc, [sc, inc, sc, inc, sc, inc], 10 sc. The video shows '9sc' at the end but the designer provided the correction to 10 sc (which gets us to 42 stitches total by the end of R12). I believe it goes inc-sc at the start of the round, then sc-inc at the other side of the head in order to mirror the increases accurately.

    Hey! I texted u on insta, i wasnt sure when u would reply sooo, im very confused about row 17-20, regarding the gap and sooo maybe someone who has made it or you could explain it in detail? And would the pattern work if i joined it?

      Hi! Sorry I missed your message, I've seen it now :) R17 through 20 are worked in a continuous spiral, there shouldn't be any gaps?
