The last hanger would also be good for wet, heavy winter coats. If you double the cross bar (for width) it would hold the shoulder open to help drying.
Johns grandkids are super lucky to have a grandfather like him
I didn't know he had any.
My father is from New Mexico. I have been to Taos many times in my youth. I should get back and see what it is like now!
Video Idea - a coffee pot tilter for campfire coffeepot. Coffee pot hangs from the S hook. Long rod riveted to S hook, some sort of captured hook at the bottom end to catch the coffee pot bottom handle. Top of the long rod shaped in a pleasant to hold ring or curl. Tip the top handle downward to pour yourself a cuppa.

Thanks John, hook of the week, but this ones a hanger! Well done!
Very attentive to the details. Subtle changes brought out the elegance
For those of us who sell handmade work, one of the challenges is how to display that work. Thanks for sharing your thought process in addition to the blacksmithing process. Another really helpful video!
Your third model is the best IMO. I could see that in a vintage clothing store very easily. I liked how you made several versions to show your customer.
Hey good day, very very nice! Thanks for sharing with us keep up the good work and the fine teaching have a beautiful day. Jim
That looks really nice. You have a great eye for design.
A very nice handmade item. 👍
Hello John, thanks for the video -- I like this type of "problem-solving" project. And it's a little bit of a flashback to the "Hook of the Week." :) The third version is much more "finished" looking than the development versions.
The angle iron can be worked - hot or cold - using a pyramid roll and a custom set of dies. You could also use the pyramid roll to produce the rounded "coat hanger" part very uniformly and quickly - just figure out what the radius of your bend is, then just roll a full circle of material (pre-cut the length to the circumference), then cut out the pieces.
I got a pyramid roll several years ago, and I adore it. I don't use it very often, but it's a real hard worker and problem solver when I need it. It wasn't expensive tool, either.
That certainly isn't a tool found in most blacksmith shops
Always thankful for your videos, because the way you work is the way I learn well. Thank you!
That's a great piece. Love to see more similar projects
Another great video, thank you sir.
Enjoy Taos. I hear it's beautiful this time of year.
I think the third prototype is a bit better, but I also like the diamond mounting plate of the second prototype too. Maybe just another inch per side larger.
More functional art, love it.
Excellent work👍👍👍 . Thanks for sharing
That looks really good John, i can definitely see that in a retail space.
Thanks John, I was just considering how I could clean up a couple of bevelled edge's.
I think the last hanger looked really nice.
Great video, thank you.
Definitely like the last one. Beautiful work John!
Really liking the way your new anvil is working for you. I was sceptical about the flat horn but it has an extremely lot of benefits.
Great job John, hope your customer likes what you have done. Fred 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Thank you sir!
Very nice job turned out very nice and very clean. Great video always great learning from your videos John. Can't wait to see ur next videos. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work John. Forge On. Keep Making. God bless.
John, you made some really nice choices for the serape hangers. Like others here, I like the last one best, with the rivets.
Thanks for the teaching SIR Thanks
You have inspired me into my ( to me) my favorite hobby. You are my favorite teacher
Last one is surely much better.Really like power hammer save time and energy👍👍🔥🔥

Nice piece of work John. I also think the last was the best. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thanks 👍
Someone's going to buy one of those really nice sarapés and come ask you for a hanger to display it!
This one for shore John May be a little twist in the square bar , but may be not . :)
I suspect you have friends in every state John
good job John. If my wife sees this, I know what I'll be doing...
I wouldne be surprised if he likes all three
He did
@@BlackBearForge thats a good thing!
Like the D’Hanis brick , not sure if it is from D’Hanis , Texas. But nice to see them in your area.
My parents used to live in Kingwood. This brick is left over from a brick patio I helped build for them 30 years or so ago.
POWER HAMMER 💪⚒️
He likes to flex it lol
Hello 👋 black bear forge. You're maybe the best blacksmith I know on youtube,
I myself am a 14 year old beginner blacksmith ,and I need your advice about where to buy a good power hammer .
Start by checking with any local smiths to see if there is one in your area for sale. New hammers are nice, but expensive. Although you should expect to pay $3,000 or more for a working Little Giant.
Thanks 😊 a lot.
@@BlackBearForge I don't think there's anything for sale near my area, we live near salida in Colorado. Where did you get your power hammer?
I know this is not addressed to me, but I see them online, new and used. Shipping is kind of a bear though.
John, where can i find one of those rulers you use with end stop on it? Whats the actual name for it?
Those are hook rulers. I make them by cutting off the leg of a square. I also have some for sale in my Etsy shop www.etsy.com/listing/544816258/hook-ruler-shop-rule-meassuring-tool?ref=shop_home_active_5&frs=1&crt=1
Spent a good 10mins searching for cerropy? Not sure of the spelling obviously. Anyone know?
Serape
In many of your videos, you mention, "Half face blows". You may have explained this in a video I've yet to watch, but I'm curious as to what this means.
ua-cam.com/video/iu1QI4val68/v-deo.html
@@BlackBearForge Thank you, sir!
He sells what?
Serape
@@BlackBearForge ah, thank you, never heard of it... Googling it turned out difficult since I didn't remotely figure out the correct spelling 😅
Is it a mexican cape like Clint Eastwood wears?
@@paulorchard7960 yep
I had to look it up as well.
Two minutes into the video all I thought about was an absent minded customer losing an eye walking into one of these skewers bolted to the wall.
very low sound volume tho
Hello John
Thank you for you Video
That is a nice hanger for a heavy Coat
Very teachfull by the way
All best wishes
Take care
