Here are some stats about #diabetes which may surprise you. In India there are around 10 crore people with diabetes and 13 crore with prediabetes according to a #ICMR funded study by #Madras Diabetes Research Foundation.
Worldwide there are 50 crore people having diabetes. In 2050 the number will rise to 130 crore diabetics.
Every 5 seconds one person dies because of diabetes. Per year around 7 lakh people with diabetes die. Worldwide 70 lakh people with diabetes die.
Type 2 Diabetes is increasing in number very fast. Diabetes is becoming a killer disease.
Why?
Poor control of #diabetes
Poor control of #hypertension
Poor control of high #cholesterol
Commonest cause of death in diabetes is no more infections or kidney disease. It is #cardiovascularsystem diseases - #heartattack and #stroke
Two common association with diabetes are : Hypertension and #dyslipidemia
Good control of sugars in diabetes mellitus; #good control of #high #bloodpressure and good control of #hypercholesterolemia is the only way to check the #morbidity and #mortality in diabetes.
