Where the Mississippi and the Missouri rivers come together at St. Louis, MO., the Missouri, which has its source in the Rocky Mountains of Montana, is actually the longer of the two.
Nice to see Connie again. She was just starting there when I was in College in Minnesota and took many field trips there at Itasca State Park. Hope the trees are doing better.
Under the 'right' conditions, the Ohio River has more flow than the Mississippi River at Cairo, Illinois. I heard that from an Army Corp of Engineer representative. I wonder if that is true for other tributaries?
The headwaters should be in the Missouri River, since above it's confluence with the Mississippi is larger in drainage and even longer. Back in the 1800's they got it wrong.

All mighty rivers have humble origins!

As I type this comment the Ohio is very very high. We’re preparing in Baton Rouge. I work on a towboat
Lake Itasca is a worthy travelers' destination
No explanation of the name "Itasca?" verITAS CAput. True head.
I never knew that. Pretty clever. Thanks.
I grew up on Quincy, Illinois, which is on the Mississippi River and it's fast and dangerous and dirty.
I grew up there too! What are the odds we’d find two people from Quincy on this small UA-cam video!?
