Also using bath salts can give you highly creative insights.
Like how tasty human flesh could be?
Simplore
Well artists are crazy :P
The ponytail and the biceps are an automatic badass alert. You're amazing.
FYI... The "uh's" are a typical, normal result when you are in your creative mode or Right-brain and have to switch to Left-brain to give verbal instructions. It's really hard to jump back and forth between the two.
He did great!
What? You're an idiot as well.
I met Tom Fleming at Mega-Con in Orlando. Really nice guy! His artwork is more impressive in person, so if you like what you see on the web, be prepared when you see the textures and vivid color in person.
Speech disfluencies (fillers) can show up in as much as 20% of our everyday speech. In the media (such as news shows) they are frowned upon because they are particularly distracting. That's why most formal media is scripted. Jerry is clearly not working from a script and is also demonstrating a craft that can take a considerable amount of concentration using other parts of the brain besides speech. The switching of the artist brain to the communicative brain to the critical-thinking brain could account for the disfluency. In short, his brain is working really hard--like three brains going at once.
SHUT UP
Thank you for sharing this technique. I work with latex, acrylic and chalk paint for furniture finishes. Finding new ways to create depth, dimension and aged looks is always awesome. Made my day. Thank you once again.
Beautiful paintings in the background.
I didn't even think about him saying "uh" and "um" at all... Really, he did a great job. His speaking seemed pretty normal. What like you all think you're better? I've seen worse.
UshioKiss Dude, I've seen so much fucking worst... Specially in a interview... emm emm amm ye.. emm uaaa buu mmmmmm mmmmm uuh uh ee mmmm. FUCK!
i didnt notice it either
I didn't notice either
Wow thats peefect super creative mind blowing... The best details amd excellent as always... 😮 love it godbless
Hey Tom...I really appreciate this demonstration, it's really makes an awesome texture, also glad to know the difference the course salt makes compared to the table salt. I will remember your side note... to let the paint dry a little for a more dramatic effect as well, I didn't realize it at the time i saw others try the salt, and didn't have these good results, cause it was way too wet. Thanks again ... Stay Creative ~ Pauline
Thank you for taking a simple process and keeping it simple, straight to the point. Sometimes people draw out videos much longer than they need to be trying to hit the magic ten minute mark.
At my school, we did an art project called "Winter Birch Trees" and we used salt to make trees look like they had snow on them too!
WoW! I've so often wondered how artists got that effect. The art behind you is incredible, too.
you're the buffest watercolor artist I've ever seen
Ahhhhh!!! I love your work!!! I see you every year at Heros con and I have always admired what you do. Thank you so much for making videos!!!
shit i THOUGHT i recognized him!!! holy shit everything makes sense.
Buff guy + painting... my god i swear i have never thought something so culturally revolutionary existed!! Off to the gym! Them chicks dig the buff painters i bet.
And by the way, very nice video.
***** What does not work? The painting technique (which i know does) or being a buff painter?
Uite, spre exemplu Țepeș nu era făcut, dar făcea artă abstractă,țeapa era pensula, iar boierii erau tablourile sale :)))
mai facut sa rid! :)
he also plays guitar ;)
My exact same feelings and thoughts.
What a fantastic idea! Such a simple thing to do but the effect is just fantastic. Thank you for sharing how to do this, Tom.
Brilliant camera work and description. Thanks for this!!!
I didn't even notice the "uh"s until I read the comments. O_O Too focused on the lesson.
Wu Yi Fanfan ikr
aye! 😂 Kris fan too ❤ I see you 🙌
+Wu Yi Fanfan yeah me too
+Wu Yi Fanfan - Same here. I was too busy concentrating on what he was telling us about the technique.
+Wu Yi Fanfan People just like to comment on the unimportant stuff.
Just scrolling through and saw this tutorial, great idea using salt will give it a try thanks Tom
It looks interesting and i'm sure going to try it. The only thing i would change in the video is that it doesn't seem complete, because you didn't brush the salt of, like you said you had to do after drying. It just seems incomplete in that matter. Still it's a very inventive technique and i'll try it for sure. Thank you for sharing! :)
That's how some of the artists from Disney created snow in some of the illustrations for the early version of Frozen called "The Ice Queen"
I love paint in the fact that, even in the beginning when he is just dabbing purple on the page.. it already looked beautiful!
You really paint beautifully! I have your bracelet!!! Nice!

Glad to see the difference using the course vs the fine salts. Thanks. :)

His speech is absolutely fine. I don't know why people are saying he says 'um' too much. He's concentrating and thinking. I've heard a LOT worse with people from USA saying 'like' for every other word.
Very nice art
