The bridges at 4:10 and 6:49 masterful, along with the background vocals, never gets old even after 30 years. The only reason I had a record player for the 12"s
Better than the original track. Needs to be dig up for some director’s Noir Soundtrack.. Redolent of dark endless evenings in black box NYC & San Francisco. A compulsive re-listen. One of the best remixes of It’s or Any time.
No matter what I was doing or who I was talking with, when this song came on I immediately went to dance. One of my all time faves...right up there with Shriekback and Camouflage and the song Send me an Angel
Honestly prefer this remix version to the original, although that might be 'cause it's the version on Substance, which the only New Order album I own... so far! Definitely one of my faves.
not sure what to even type..best track ever especially the 12 remix..masterpiece of the 80's and still until this day gives you goose bumps. UNREAL!!! Was my year book quote...In the end you will submit its got to hurt a little bit..whatever that means :)
Honestly I really like this song just because of the lyrics are a great representation of alienation. Going back to your home and being alone. Walking in the park alone at night. Shaft being masturbation and the idea of submitting is using masturbation to compensate for lacking intimacy. Trying and missing meaning to try and get with someone and failing. Really a great song.
+camann33 Wow, amazed by your comment. I've sifted through many many versions of this remix just to find the one that included 4:45 to 5:39. Thanks to DubVulture 1963 for posting.
I am 42 years old and now will never give up my dreams of going to London and opening up 3 music business. 1.Record Shop 2.Record Magazine 3.And a Dance/Music Studio/Focus on New Wave/Post Joy Division Revival Music
***** Blue Monday was pioneering and had an excellent '88 mix, but Dub Vulture was such a sensational mix of this track (although the album version was special too), for me, it elevates it above Blue Monday. But whether it elevates it above the perfection of Your Silent Face or the beauty of the album version of Bizarre Love Triangle or the epic Temptation is another question.....I'd say, probably not.
Best version of Subculture. Wish I could get a decent digital version of the original Substance 1987, as the versions around these days don't have this remix on them. If anyone knows where it can be found..?
+Rachel Fildes Substance was just a compilation. This 12'' remix can be also found on any Low Life Collector's Edition (on amazon there are plenty of choices www.amazon.com/Low-Life-CD-Collectors-New-Order/dp/B001FBJUKY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1442500748&sr=8-1&keywords=new+order+low+life )

Jamey Mosley no, first of all, Ian was part of joy division, which every new order member except Gillian was in. Second, this is Steven Morris, their drummer
When I first heard this in 1987 I hated it. To me, they had fucked up a perfect track. The original was powerful, deep, and mysterious. This was almost comical. It still hasn't grown on me, lol. Even the dj subscription service Razormaid did a horrible remix of this in 1986. Nothing tops the original.
Richard Blade played this on 106.7 KROQ back in the day, it's my favorite, love this version!!
I forgot how good this song was!! Damn!!!when you come back to new order years later it sounds even fucken better!! Holy cow 🐮!!!
@andrewma3491: New Order’s best version of Sub-Culture l personally heard of!!!!😎😎👍🏾❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

This song reminds me of my childhood when I owned Substance and would play this CONSTANTLY....Awesome haunting song....
I absoutely love the backup singers, especially the "One of these Days"
It plays in me head whenever someone says something, only for the past 11 years! " one of these days "
I agree with you

I'm afraid Subculture is from 1985, making it 37 years old. Your comment is one year old, so 36 years old. Many memories though!
um dos hinos de minha adolescência.
The Best for Me, ONE OF THIS DAY^S...BLESS4ALL THIS GENERATION !!!! DONDE QUIERA QUE ESTEMOS..FROM BAJAMX.
I'm so thrilled to be able to find all of the extended mixes that I used to have on vinyl, especially this: my favourite new Order song!
30TH LIKE. 5 YEARS.
Agreed. Except for me, it is my favorite New Order song.
I love the parts that constantly get repeated out of nowhere. They make it sound so glitchy yet good!
The interplay of the drums and the bass line in the beginning is hypnotic. It seems off but then it just blends into bliss......
Este fue el primer tema que escuché de New Order allá por 1985, y desde entonces estoy enganchado a su música.
Temazo para disfrutar.
4:18 is the greatest Bridge transition in dance music history. This really is like Blue Monday 2.0
Is not a "bridge" is a highway that realy makes justice to the expression "epic".
@@anapaulacarneiro4175 yup... This my go to song for happiness!

I had this Album back in the days. Still love new Order, such a part of my growing up.
Fantastic! I always miss New Order and the 80s.

Definitely one of my faves.
This song seems to become newer, instead of older, as time goes by!
Quem gostava realmente dessa banda, gostava mesmo sem precisar provar nada pra ninguém
Fitting (Halloween) October 1985 release and follow-up to 'Perfect Kiss'. Quite atmospheric with some cool change ups

Their best song.
Oh yea! I remember driving my Chrysler Laser Turbo in the fog in Seattle back in the 80s blasting this song.
fantastic Lyrics....simple fact

Still mesmerized by 4:45 to 5:39. Perfection.
+camann33 the following 5 secs are just as good though. How would someone come up with something like this?!

The best song of The New Order. Boa N.O.
Wow ! That's amazing. I remember this song coming home after a few long nights morning.
It's almost as if they collaborated with the Pet Shop Boys when these were in their pomp. Great song.

Blue Monday and this song were both good
Way better: Blue Monday is good but slightly overrated. I couldnt relate to the lyrics.
Virtually a concerto for drum machine.

It sounds the synth bass is arpeggiated but im not shure......anyways is one of the top of all eities. Amazing song from New Order.
Still orgastic in 2020
Very Nice! 💙💚💛
bailaba esta cancion en los locales de malaga en los años 8o ,el oboe o el skalom
New Order reached something very difficult: to make electronic music with an "organic" imperfection.
yes...many others in 80s as well - eurythmics. pet shop boys, yazzo, depeche mode.....as so on.....
they were a band...not a producers "package"
Bad ass song!
