went to this, small setting the sound was unbelievable, privileged to have seen it here before they knocked the studio down, my favourite New Order song as well
This song was so ahead of its time. An old friend introduced me to them in 1985. He played Blue Monday, Perfect Kiss, and Subculture, in that order. I was sold. My favorite band, from the ashes of another favorite band.
Wow, what a sound, what an ultra-modern intro! Best live version - just shows how ahead of the times this song was - because it STILL sounds ahead of time 30 years later!
I like talking in my sleep When people work so hard They need what they can't keep A choice that leaves them scarred A room without a view Unveils the truth so soon And when the sun goes down You've lost what you had What do I get out of this? I always try, I always miss (woah) One of these days you'll go back to your home You won't even notice that you are alone One of these days when you sit by yourself (one of these days) You'll realise you can't shaft without someone else In the end you will submit (one of these days) It's got to hurt a little bit
Remember reading a review in the NME of New Order gig back in the eighties, the journo said when they are this good all the other bands might as well go home and peel onions. Same applies here.
In some extend this is true, but not 100% literally. Back in the old days every 4 of them always gave the 100% of themselves in lives, eventhough they wasn't considered then as a mainly live group doing a lot of "theatrical" acts and continuesly interracting with the audience as others. They just focused on performing best their music which is superb, a plus ultra, which is only that really matters and not the prefabricated clowny acts of other bands.
This version is pretty-much based on the John Robie 12” remix which I remember being almost universally reviled when it came out back in ‘85. The reason it came in a plain black sleeve is that Peter Saville refused to design a cover for it.
The single version is soo much superior and better in my opinion. the background vocals are just so good and the whole thing when put together is way more catchy than the original.
this version strips the original of all the edge and minimalism that made it awesome. I always disliked their remake of the original. The cheesy unison background voices singing "one of these days" dulls the edge. The intricate drum programming gets drowned out by the superfluous added synths.

I Love the kraftwerk intro in this song.

The last 3 songs of Low Life are composed and played in a state of grace where none could do wrong!
oblomurg the entirety of low life is still at least 50 years ahead of its time in 2020

My fave New Order song and this is the best live version I have heard. Fantastic.

yesterday they played this fucking great and lost song in Stgo Chile. What a moment
Madre mía que recuerdos me trae esta cancion ^WWWAAAAUUUU
Excelente
kojima san bought me here
Without the soul singers, this version gets very close to perfection. Somehow leaving Kraftwerk behind in the peloton by adding soul to the machine.
THIS IS SOOO GREAT!
Demasiado bueno
The best!
❤️❤️👏👏👏 🕺 😀
Love this

Brutal!!!!!!
... a room without a view.. 👽
Can someone tell me what tour this was? This song on this stage had to be part of a larger video I saw years ago and can't find it.
Welcome to México, Corona Capital 18 🇲🇽
This so Pet Shop Boys I love it!
million times better than PSB!!!
Trevor Random They are good but you can’t put them together. You just can’t!
New Order is New Order.
There's some Kraftwerk flavours in there as well.
@@alexandrelacerda75 you can't put them together? Ehhh, Electronic?
cappaculla I know they did a song together with Neil, Sumner and Marr.
I’ve meant to say you can’t compare N.O. to P.S.B
Iv seen new order live with and without Peter I av too say there better without and hook is just touring living in the past
Video broken
A shame that Bernard destroyed the sound of Hooky's bass
Needed Hooky

i LOVE THIS SONG. But he sounds like a dude doing karaoke .
