I've got this 7", I bought it in Valencia (Spain) in1986, came with the Record Mirror, an old British music magazine, and still sounds perfect in my turntable :)
I saw New Order in Sydney (AU) on 13MAR20 . "Subculture" had been a long time fave of mine, I never understood the negative reaction to the track or to the John Robbie Remix. But hey, their rendition of "Subculture" brought tears to my eyes,
35 yrs.............still love this f*****g group! Always cool, always will be, love Music Complete but Low Life was the album. What more is there to say except..............neworder!
Excellent quality - had the original freebie flexi disc and still have the tape recording of it somewhere. A more spatial version of the original. Even now, after all these years, I wish they had turned those synths up at around the 5:55 mark - criminal to leave such a beautiful sound so low in the mix!
This is by far the best remix of the Subculture, one of the main reason by getting rid of the, " one of these days..." the most annoying line of the whole song.
Low Life version was under produced and Substance version was way, way overproduced. In fact their cover artist hated the Substance version so badly that he didn't feel the song was worthy of his talents, and that's why the vinyl version of this song is just black.
so many great versions of this song, one of NO best songs. sub-culture remixes(3) and dub-vulture mixes(2) are all available either on their 12inch singles or anthology sets or discography sets. great sound btw, thanx.
pyrtwist yes this version uses Bernard's vocals from the original LP version on Low-Life. So much more real sounding than the remix...I love this mix the best I bought the 1986 RM mag with the unplayed 45 attached for the article feature, cover and 45! Seriously amazingly deep song that doesn't appear to be at first few listens
This is NOT by John Robie. It's by a different guy (I think it's Razormaid) and commissoned with the band themselves. Robie's SubCulture remixes were the absolute pits - so bad that it's well known that their record sleeve designer Peter Saville refused to do a record cover for it and plumped for a plain black sleeve and type on the label only This earlier alternative version pisses all over those godawful hackneyed John Robie travesties.... god only knows what he was thinking coming up with such -kitchen sink remix techniques.
@@busterabcat The label of the RM single says it's by John Robie. However, the Discogs entry lists "Remix [Uncredited] - Joseph Watt" (of Razormaid) and says "Edit Of The Sarm West Remix (Razormaid)."
One of these days you'll go back to your home You won't even notice that you are alone One of these days when you sit by yourself (one of these days) You'll realise you can't shaft without someone else In the end you will submit (one of these days) It's got to hurt a little bit
The mix featured above is the Razormaid Remix, just a shorter version of it by about a minute or so. Probably to fit it into the time constraints of the 7" vinyl ua-cam.com/video/hk2nu4d-2mo/v-deo.html
I first heard Sub Culture in 1985 and I was hooked on it from the instant. It's such an important Electronic Dance Record.
first time hearing this "quieter" version, and I love it.
Was für ein genialer Remix. Ich liebe diesen Sound.🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 Ein fantastisches Lied.😀😀😀😀😀
Love this version....but also the heavier louder more clubby versions. What a fantastic song. Im 59 and it makes all the memories come rushing back
I have so many favorite New Order songs. This is one of the best.
First version I ever heard. Found it in my sister's record collection. It started my love affair with New Order and, ultimately, Joy Division
But it all began with Warsaw
My first experience with New Order in 1986. Unforgetable...
I got to see them. In 86. Was listening for a few yrs b4 that.
My first in 1983
I'm currently listening to this on vinyl. Found the 4 track sampler record in a charity shop :-)
You came to youtube to tell us?
@@josephbwuzhere yes, 4 years ago...

Fantastic remix. 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
A great version of my favourite New Order track, reminds me of nights out in Manchester in the late 80's,those were the day's.....

best remix of NO ever !!!!

I still have that free flexi disc, which came with Record Mirror. I bought that issue in Hong Kong.
I vividly remember that flexi disc. Which versions/mixes were on it? I only remember one version from it, closer to the 12" low remix I think
@@richardhall800 you can't remember it that vividly - it wasn't a flexi disk, it was solid vinyl.

I remember a free flexi-disc version of this that came in a magazine - I pretty sure that was the first version I heard of this song.
Great era. Class of 89'
This will always be my favorite...

The cover story sounds cool but it's an urban myth.

Love the vocals on this one. So detached, so dissonant.

I had never heard this mix til now. It's pure class!
Such an awesome remix!
I'm big Eighties Fan. This Mix is great.
This version is fantastic
Wow love this mix...❤❤I'm dancing remember good old teen days❤❤❤❤
Forever NEW ORDER!
I was 15 when this came out and it has the same effect on me as it did in '85. VISCERAL! Takes me to where I need to be TY NO!
Get the steps in with this great music

The best of the John Robie mixes. Should have been released as the single version.

Definitely Razormaid.
This version is amazing. Love NO and listen a lot to it.
I like this remix most, due to my childhood, when I was younger during teen age aprox in 1988
La mejor versión, lejos!.
Es vida, sueños y LIBERTAD, esta música
Love it 🥰 this brings back good memories of the past! ♥️♥️♥️
The Best version.....should have been the single mix.
great mix !!! first time I hear it !!
This is great! New Order rules.
Stunning Remix! Love it !
Love it . A bit more raw.
Great sound quality. Well done
Awesome - haven't heard a new remix of Subculture in many years (I had only a partial and low quality version of this one). Thanks!
John Garay I've got the HQ mp3 of this and many more rarities :)
Shaina Karasik would you like to share to me your mp3 rarities?
Great track, great band. Thanks for uploading this rarity :)

It was on a 4 track 7" EP given away free with Record Mirror magazine in 1986.
