Just hanging out with a Legend like Jack Roush would be cool but then letting me drive his car would be so awesome! You are one lucky SOB!
Those guys have been around each other for many years
A legend? Big badass cars do not matter....what matters in life is people and how you treat them. Jack is only a man who worked his life away getting rich off of his employees he mistreated due to his overblown ego. You all would have a different tune if you all knew the person Jack really was off camera.
meet jack roush and drive one of his stroked four two nines.. man what a day
This video is absolutely cool it's funny seeing Jack drive his car he didn't worry about the railroad tracks the bumps in the road he just flies over them Priceless baby priceless
WOW! JUST WOW!
Very generous of Mr. Roush.
Truly the essence of a car guy.
Thanks so much.
I couldn't agree more
That thing looks showroom fresh. Man,
What a day to drive with a legend.
If a man of his age can get down in a manual, there is absolutely no excuse for you younger people. Hop in a car with 3 pedals, not 2 pedals and not 2 PADDLES. It makes you such a better driver, you learn more respect for the vehicle, your surroundings and yourself because you connect with the vehicle.
All I can say is that is what a once in a lifetime experience looks like.🤘👍🏻
To drive Jacks car has got to be one of the greatest experiences, his own personal car. wow.
I was a 60s Chevy muscle car guy. And I loved watching this and hearing Jack talk.
Back n '69, I saw 1 of these Boss 429's and a 396/375 Nova race 3 different ways 1 night.....Boss won each by a little over 1 car length. Both were 4 speeds. I was disappointed the Chevy didn't win, but the Boss was a sight to behold..... I still remember it like it was just last week.
I'm a ford guy have a 69 mach but if that nova had a driver it might have won them chevy motors turned on back in the my dad almost bought a 69 yenko chevelle but before the deal got done it burned down in a garage so 1 of I think 99 built we know don't exist but he said it was the quickest car he was ever in
Your honesty is nice to see
@@whosthere2707 not with a non detuned boss they really were something else
The Ford de-tuning of my Boss 429 was revised in 1971 by Speed Specialties of St. Petersburg, FLA. I think the rear was 391 traction lock from Ford. With G60-15 tires, I ran "A" stock at Sunshine Dragway on the weekend and NEVER lost a race. It was awesume as no other street cars approached the high 11's at that time. Exhaust pipes were cut out each side of the car with caps for normal driving. Miss the old days !
Wow. Lots of anecdotes for sure. It makes me wonder what would have happened if Ford had pushed the Boss 9 to its full potential. Could have been the fastest car in the muscle car wars. You raced against all the bad boys then? (428 cobra jet, chevelle LS6, hemi mopars, buick gsx, etc.)
I'm so sorry for u that de tuning bullshit ruined some Boss 429s it's like taking the badass out of a titanboa or the fangs of a black mamba absolutely criminal glad u got it fixed
Ppppfftttt. Ate the Hemi Cuda's dust all day long.
Funny story...back in 69 or 70 my father had a car identical to this. One day while driving it he saw a truck broke down on I believe 322 in southington ct. My father pulled over to see if he could help. It ended up being Jack Roush and Jack absolutely loved the car. He often wonders if that encounter influenced his decision to purchase this car.
Hanging out with Jack Roush & driving his B9. WoW! Doesn’t get any better than that! I had a ‘69 Boss9 S version years ago. Such great cars.
I had a white 69 Boss 9.. KK #1671.
Such an amazing beast to drive. Was a bitch finding parts for it though.
“I like to put a half inch stroke in everything” don’t be so modest Jack.
Ok....I’ll show myself out now...
Jack had the stroke “ secret” way back then. Took Ford quite a while to figure it out , but check out the stroke on the new 7.3 Godzilla. Congrats to Ford! Better late than never. Youngblood
One of his favorite tricks was to go through the 460's in the Lincolns of the Ford execs; 514's, lighting 'em up, off the stoplights, surprising a few "muscle type" cars... lol
That’s what I said….. she laughed
How you get to show us the Falcon.
A Boss 429 is my absolute favorite Mustang!
Me too
Man the living Legend!! Jack Roush, and taking out his Boss9! Awesome 🤩
I knew if that car belonged to Mr.Roush there was no way the engine was stock LOL. Great to drive with a legend, glad he is still enjoying it!
Thanks for watching Cash!
Just hanging with Jack! Too cool!
I remember going to the US NATIONALS & watching Gapp & Roush, Glidden, Dyno Don & all the other Ford greats race. I really miss those days! Fast Fords Forever!❤😎👍🏁🏆
That was a wonderful video! Jack is such a nice guy! Ah yes the days when you lifted the hood and saw an engine instead of an acre of plastic! I always loved those big, wide Boss 429 valve covers!
Jack is only a man who worked his life away getting rich off of his employees he mistreated due to his overblown ego. You all would have a different tune if you all knew the person Jack really was off camera.
@@PeeterPuncher I do know of Jack back in the drag race days and he was known as pretty much a jerk. Not all bad, but still kind of a turd
So happy you caught him there. Some of
My best moments were just to hear him tell stories at the race track
I have more coming!
@@revanevan IT'S crazy too think that there putting Terminators in the same sentence of a Boss 429.
@@revanevan That is a 69 BOSS.How I know that 2 reasons the hood scoop is not black and the gear shfter isn't a HURST SHIFTER AND ALSO MY FRIEND BILL HAS A 70 GRABBER BLUE BOSS.
I met Jack Roush and his partner Wayne Gapp in 1976 at Milan Dragway racing my brother's Mustang at an event and he predicted it would take 1st place and I did! Poor guy who miss 3rd gear shift in a '69 CJ Mach was actually quicker in the 1/8 but I took all contenders in the top end of the 1/4 mile!
Would love to see Jack write a book about his life and racing.
Jack is only a man who worked his life away getting rich off of his employees he mistreated due to his overblown ego. You all would have a different tune if you all knew the person Jack really was off camera.
@@PeeterPuncherThat was Boyd Coddington, he was a prick to people not Jack Roush....
This is at the top of the bucket list
If that isn't a checked bucket list item then NOTHING IS!
If you have Boss 429. You and beast become as one. Great piece of automotive history for Ford lovers.
This is hard to see jack at this age. Having worked for jack in this exact building in Livonia in the early 90’s.
Sucks time flies.
I had an oldtimer rebuild my Cleveland a few years ago hè since retired. Guy had alot of oldskool knowledge. Dying breed
I would say Jack is doing very well for his age and the plane crash he endured and survived.
I was fortunate enough to talk to him at Edgewater Dragstrip, before his NASCAR career. He has always been my hero and still is!
Jack is only a man who worked his life away getting rich off of his employees he mistreated due to his overblown ego. You all would have a different tune if you all knew the person Jack really was off camera.
Jack shows us that being a real car guy is paramount to being so successful as a race car builder
What a bucket list check off day that must have been
Brother, it doesn't get any cooler than that! Great Job...
Thanks
I remember as a 14 year old boy who couldn’t wait to his driver license visiting a large Chicagoland dealership with my Dad and Uncle who were shopping for a Maverick. I spotted the red Boss 429 sitting on the showroom floor and that’s where I spent the next two hours. Being subscriber to (S/S & Drag Illustrated) I knew what the car was. I made all kinds of promises and almost begged my Dad to buy it for me. I knew it was hopeless when he opened the hood and saw that Hemi. It nearly took his breath away. My uncle did get a new six cylinder Maverick though. Haha
Absolutely a Legend!!! Thank you for sharing.
Living the dream Evan!
Wow how great is that, driving a Jack Roush 1969 429 Boss mustang and having the Legion test drive and you get to drive the awesome beast
of a showroom car.
How awesone for you! Many, many fun times with this man and my Dad. Many wonderful stories as well! Wonderful guy!
Jack Roush is amazing an icon amoung legends. one of the most incredible engine builders in all of auto racing. he always used the technique of reading spark plugs to know exactly how the engine is performing. in fact he was a master at being able to read plugs better than anyone. he probably no doubt has cornered the market with all the Roush built vehicles that are out there. and the endless supply of Roush performance parts that were and still are available. and he's not only an awesome automotive enthusiast. (I'm guessing he still has it) but he owns a P51 Mustang aircraft. yep that Boss 429 Mustang is one hell of a nice car. I would really love to get the opportunity to get to meet him that would AWESOME by itself. but if he asked me if I would like to drive his car I would be floored no doubt.
At one time Jack Roush was a dyno operator in the hi-performance development department at Ford. I believe his drag racing partner from back in the 1960s-80s, Wayne Gapp, was also working in the hi-performance department. They got together and ran the Gapp and Roush Pintos, Mustangs and Mavericks in Pro Stock. His most memorable Pro Stock car was a Maverick 4dr sedan, the "Tijuana Taxi." The NHRA had a weight break for cars over a certain wheelbase, the 2drs didn't have enough wheelbase, but the Maverick 4drs did, and so they ran it, and won a lot of races. So he learned a lot of tricks about seeing what worked, and what to look for, when developing hi-po cars.
Man you always have the rarest and coolest cars on this channel. Having mr roush ripping thru the gears in his boss 9. What an experience
Mr Roush...Your a true gentleman and us viewers are thrilled at what you did AND to allow another to drive your BOSS,,, unreal, I'm in Australia with a 69 Mach 1 and enjoy this car more than any other model But the BOSS 9 is the pinnacle,,,We salute you Sir.
Bless Mr. Roush for being a genuine enthusiast & Legend in automotive history. Still humble & passionate. A mans man. ✊🏻🇺🇸
What an honor that would be to hang with such a legend
What a treat with Jack him self an Real 429 Boss.
How Fantastic was that!!!,....... and being allowed to drive the Boss was Awesome too!!
Sounds great listening with iPods!
What a beast.
Awesome Evan, what a cool car. My parents had a Boss 351 and a 71 429 CJ and always dreamed of the Boss 429.
My father knows Jack he used to race around a 69 fast back all around Detroit with a built 351 Cleveland Jack Rouch also adjusted the valves on my uncles 700 hp boss 302 in a parking lot
My uncle knew him when he lived in Covington Kentucky
This is the awesomest video yet
Wow what a treat for you guys! I met Mr. Roush at Brandon Ford Tampa long ago during a Roush performance get together that our Mustang club invited us to attend. He autographed dashboards on members Roush edition cars. Very accommodating and a super nice man. I took a mess of pictures that day only to lose my camera.. ugh smh. Love the channel and the UTG family of channels too.
The old Cat in the Hat. Love seeing Jack tear up the streets.
Thank you very much for sharing your work with us, cheer up! 🥰🥰🥰
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching
Baddest muscle car ever made
Great collection and love hearing the stories. Jack is one of the greatest. Thanks 😊🙏
Wow, what an honor and privilege!
What an unreal experience.
Couldn't have said it better myself
Those things are a beast even detuned
It must been and experience specialty a numbers match Boss 429 thanks Evan.🔥👏👍
I am a gm guy but i love the look and color of that 69 mustang
Awesome video+++++ from a Roush owner of a 2020 JRE Edition
Thanks Mike! Please be sure to subscribe
Gorgeous car, thank you Mr. Roush for taking us for a ride in your spectacular Boss 429! I have a Superformance MKIII (factory-built Shelby 427 S/C Cobra replica) that I put a Roush 427 small block in, a phenomenal engine, thank you for that too, Mr. Roush!
Really nice video of Jack and that Mustang is my favorite in the collection. That 427 cougar Jack has is killer too.
Thanks Jon.
427 side oiler in it, I believe, at least when he first put it together---it was for his daughter Sue, if I recall correctly. Nice "first car," for sure! lol
Love it, he makes me think back to being a kid in my Grandma's 396/325 '65 Impala, she'd learned on a manual and never owned any A/T cars, the Impala was no exception. I loved watching her row that 4spd, she'd even dump the clutch on occasion and get those bias plies frying, lol.
$1100 Bucks! Oh Jack, you are The Man. It’s such a Shame what Sanctioning Bodies have done to Ford and Mopar over the years just because others couldn’t compete. Jack Roush will live on forever in history as a Gentleman’s Gentleman and an Icon of Racing.
Great opportunity
Good on you
Awesome video! Jack still got it man too cool 🇺🇸 dying to know how Abe fit in that back seat though 🤣
The Boss 429 Really Starts Cranking @ about 3700 rpm & Turns Into A BEAST to 7000 rpm
I think the S550 Mustang is the best looking American Car on the road today....and this car is Proof. This car is the granddaddy of the S550 Mustang, and this particular car is the most beautiful BOSS I have ever seen.
Incredible. That’s so great to see Jack enjoying it and letting you drive it. I think the Boss 9 loves to have Jack drive it. Great video. I couldn’t think of a more deserving person to get to drive Jacks Boss 429.
Thanks Justin.
Thats a million dollar car i bet
@@frenchonion4595 ones like his sure are some even 3 mil
Very cool! I remember going to the shop in Livonia with my dad when I was a kid. We were buying parts for dad’s Boss 351 powered 65 Mustang drag car. They were building Pro Stock Pintos when we visited 😎
Oh my GAWD what an honor to get to ride with the MAN Mr. Jack Roush!!!! The ICONIC Ford Man more so than Carol Shelby!!!!!!
I remember the street scene in the 60s and 70s. I wasn't old enough to drive in the 60s but was a car nut because of how cool they looked and bad ass they sounded as one would pull up next to you at a stop light. In the early 60s I was a little kid but I knew the 57 Chevy would be a classic even before it was a classic. My parents knew I was crazy about the 57' Chevy so for Christmas around 64' or 65' we got a Motorific Detroit Torture Track slot car set and got me a separate extra car which was a 57 chevy. Don't know what the Motorific set is about, check it out on YT.
Such a cool car
How fitting is it that Jack owns car numner 429 out of the 500ish boss 429 mustangs? I beleive in a thing called destiny.
Yes it is fitting. 857 were built in 1969.
@@GTR-ex2ly I'm not nearly as well versed in classic mustangs as Foxbody era onward thanks for the heads up. I could understand his confusion seeing 429 in the number would make you think it is referring to it being a boss 429
@@midnight347 No problem. There is so much misinformation about these cars on the internet. There were 857 1969 Boss 429 Mustangs built in 1969 plus 2 Boss 429 equiped Cougars. The KK numbers started at KK-1201. So this car cannot be the 429th one built.
Chance of a life time to be there and ride with mr jack and drive his car which is a very beautiful car
Evan, what a day. Love it. When did it hit u, did that just really happen!!!
I’m not sure it has yet. Amazing experience for sure.
Loved it. Jack is some smooth with that clutch.
Hi.Amazing to listen to an older racer how it was in US in the past.I’m an 67 years old guy from Sweden who like to look at older american cars on UA-cam.This video was really fun to look at.Good intervjues and very good filming. Thanks a lot.👍😎
Just like winning the lottery twice, awesome!
👉This might be the coolest video on UA-cam💯
Well thank you, be sure to share it up!
That was Super Cool, I'm a Jack Roush Fan Great Guy to Work For!
Thank you
Wow, lucky man.
A Jack Roush stroked Boss...so COOL! I always lament that Ford didn't throw in a 3.85 stroke forged crank and make a BOSS 460 !!
Cool, I'm putting Kasse style Boss heads on a 460 to drop into my 70 Mach1, that has a Rod and Motorsports conversion kit, narrowed diff and 10 point roll cage just to see how it goes...
@@mustangterrry9122 Nice. Those big heads NEED a big engine to match !!
We need more of him telling stories. Love the details he remembers perfectly.
Love the unbeaten street racing '60 Falcon story !!
Such a legend!!!
You have the coolest friends!
Man so pleasant to see mr Roush in his ride good stuff man god bless him
This still remains and forever will be my favorite Mustang
flippin awesome
What a Legend. That is absolutely priceless! - I was fortunate to get an inside tour of his Nascar shop... Simply amazing... Much rather see that Boss though.
Fitting for number 429 to be owned by Mr. Roush. That was lovely. Thanks for the share.
I had a chance to drive a red 1969 Boss in 1970. There was a co-worker at Bell Areospace in Niagara Falls, N.Y. who owned one . He was a newbie and bought the car just to show it off not suspecting what he really had. He'd pop the hood just to show off the huge motor. He let me drive it during lunch hour one day. Wouldn't you know it a 1969 SS396 Chevelle pulled up along side of us right at the light in front of Bell. I asked Steve if it was ok to try it out. He looked over with a big smile and said ok. I said check your seat belt and hand on. The guy in the Chevelle was looking at us with a slight grin on his face and revving up his engine.I don't know what he thought he was in for or if he not noticed the Boss 429 emblem on the fender of the stang. The light turned green and all you could hear was screaming tires as I dumped the clutch and nailed it. It was even steven in first as we were both burning rubber. I hit second gear and it was all over, by 3rd gear the Chevy was 2 1/2 car lengths behind. I hit 4th and let off the gas as we were doing about 80 mph on Niagara Falls blvd. which is a busy road in the "Falls". Steve looked at me and asked with a big smile on his face "Is that's how it's done?" Yeh, I answered as we both laughed all the way back the the Bell parking lot. I don't know where the Chevelle went as I was busy looking to turn around and cops at the same time. This is an absolutely true story.
He hinted at wanting to sell the Boss at a later date but, backed down when I really showed interest. We both got laid off and I never saw Steve or what happened to the Boss.I thought about the Boss and it's fate to this day.

cool story gary..
Very cool memory, similar to my 1972 H.O. Mustang races against the losers...
I used to race on Telegraph rd in 77. Damn it was fast. I had a 72 trans am and got my ass whooped by many mustangs
Yes I remember beating a lot of Trans Ams, Chevelles and Mopars with my brother's maroon Mustang and a friend's Yellow GT Hipo convertible with a Paxton!
@@billkerstein1637 I wish I still had that trans am but she was gone in 79. I bought a 67 mustang and got smart. The mustang was totaled in 1981 but I want another one. Right now I have a89 foxbody convertible and it’s my baby. But I will always remember Telegraph rd!
@@lochnessfox3441 Love the foxbodys! I have an '86 since new. Anything Ford small block to big block fits no cutting and they are light. Subframe connectors and beeffed control arms and they are strong with the 8.8 Locker and fast!
Real MEN still drive 3 pedals!!! Jack , you are the BOSS!
Thanks for the video. You're lucky to get to drive that . COOL !!!!!!!
Thanks for watching John.
What a legend!!
That boss 429 is in my opinion top 3 cars of all time in all the sports cars in the world.doesnt get any better than boss 429..great video REVan
Jack has still got it, sort of.
He got old on me, and that saddens me deeply, but then again, my parents did also.
The clock is still functioning 😎👍
That is a great video, stunningly nice car and great drive and his sories of the Falcon at the end are cool. I got to talk with Jack at the SEMA show not long after he finished the replica of the 60 Falcon he drove back in the 60's. He had just run it at Milan before heading to Vegas and said it was faster than the original.... and this quip had me grinning ... " I guess i've learned a bit about small block Fords in the ensuing years".
I was at Jack's shop once and got the tour. Something I'll never forget...
To any classic car lover this would be a dream come true 👍
jack be nimble jack be slick jack makes the mustang go real QUICK
