Many many thanks to you Dr. Osterholm. Even as we here in the northern hemisphere plod towards more darkness, your guidance, expertise, and kindness make this world a better, brighter place.
I am so grateful for this podcast and having a source for reliable and trusted information on public health. Thanks for speaking up about the Florida Surgeon General, Ladapo, amd his anti-science stance. Why he still has a medical license is beyond me.
Significant measles outbreak in Minnesota among school children. What are we doing to influence these parents to vaccinate their kids against this horrible disease. 51 kids infected. 25% were hospitalized.
I worry that the only thing that can change these parents' minds is their child getting seriously, dangerously ill. I just hope their kids don't get so ill that they suffer permanent disability or worse. Eventually the parents will ask "WhY dIdNt thE gOvErnMeNt dO aNyThInG tO pRoTeCt tHe chILdrEn?” and the answer will have to be "We did, but you ignored our recommendations and instead chose to believe someone shilling supplements and essential oils on Facebook."
@@christopherrobinson7541 You are fortunate. I often find myself wishing that I had been born in the U.K. I have subsidies on my Medicare part B because I'm considered low income, yet I still get all these huge bills. If I get sick, the hospitals will push me out early because they know that I can't pay 20% of my bill.
@@Cuinn837 No, I just never go to the doctor. I haven't seen a doctor for any reason for ten years. I was able to get the Covid vaccinations for free at a local pharmacy until now but never, ever go to the doctor. Part A only covers hospital with a high deductible so I'm taking my chances until something terrible happens...
@@Valeriebug1 I avoid doctors as much as possible, but I do have chronic conditions that have to be looked after. So I have Part B but it's subsidized because I wasn't able to work for twenty years (due to my conditions) before getting Medicare. Both A and B only cover 80%, so I get a lot of bills that are hard to pay. I haven't been able to get a supplement to cover what Medicare doesn't. If anything severe happens to land me in the hospital, I'm done. Hospitals HATE patients who don't have a Medicare supplement. They will likely put me at risk by pushing me out too early. Elderly people should be getting health care for free, like they do in every other developed nation.

Thank Doctor for your information but most of all for your humanity
Osterholm's idea of humanity is a depopulated wasteland.

That is terrible!
Do these parents even want to listen, or are they held captive by social media vaccine "advice"? So sad.

_"25% were hospitalized"_
That is a very high percentage, which suggests that they are many cases that are not being reported.
What we should be doing is to vote for a government that doesn’t dabble in conspiracies and is not against science…
What about us old folks with Medicare Part A only?
You must get a lot of bills. I have A, B, and D, and I still get lots of bills because I don't have a supplement.
I live in the UK and pay no medical bills,

A covid update special on Ontario public television sang the praises of paxlovid, said you need to take it in the first day or two.

Everyone listening, what do you think of the Florida Surgeon General advising against getting the booster?
