It's time for my Halloween build and this year it's a buddy build with modeler Marc Fraley of the Cyclops from Xplus models. This beautiful kit is a replica of the creature seen in the movie 7th Voyage of Sinbad and was a creation of special effects wizard Harry Harryhausen. The model is beautifully detailed and is a faithful recreation of the cyclops. In this video, Marc and I review our plans for the build followed by a review of what comes with the kit . I then proceed with painting and assembling the creature.
The build will conclude in part 2 with the construction of the cage, painting the figures and the display base. Marc will be feautring highlights of his build and then a final reveal of both projects will follow.

I loved that movie when I was a kid. He looks just like I remember!
Yep me too. Harryhausen was a genius
I had this decades ago.
Put lead in the feet and filled it up with epoxy resin so it would stand up without a base.
Painted it like brass.
Looked classy.
Kids loved it.
such a cool creature for sure
Awesome Paint Job , so much Depth. X-Plus is making some Fantastic Kits, Hoping they will make a 6th scale Robby one day.
Totally agree, XPlus is doing great! Thanks for the compliments
Very nice build of the Cyclops! The build and the paint work is top notch. Great pick for a Halloween subject.
Thank you
Oggie, another crackingly cool build! You know I was just thinking, if someone wanted to, they could probably find a glass doll's eye for Big C.
Interesting idea! Thanks for the compliments. I really appreciate it
I'm guessing that's what Ray used, originally.@@InterstellarModeler

Awesome choice for a Halloween build. Very nice work on the kit so far O! And, Marc that is some awesome 3D printed additions to make the whole diorama.
Thanks Kenny
Thank you!
An ancient monster, or a confectionery delight? Love those color names.
Thanks
Great looking build!!
Thank you Larry
I built this up myself a few weeks ago. Great kit. Looking forward to seeing your finished version.
Thanks Chris...definitely a fun project
@@InterstellarModeler absolutely. Just a shame that harryhausen kits can get quite expensive.
On the lower half I may try to thin white glue and try to put static short grass figure turned out great
Its funny you mention that. I was trying to think of something that would look like fur but wasn’t confident it would looked right now or eventually in the long run. Appreciate your comments, thank you
Wonderful, what primers do you use? Can you use a primer from a spray can?
Thanks. I currently use Stynylrez primer with an airbrush. There are some good rattle can primers too. Tamyia and Mr. Surfacer are pretty good. Rustoleum automotive primer is not bad if you're looking to buy something at a major store like Walmart or an auto parts shop.
Cool
thanks for watching
This is going to be my next build.
Its a great kit. Thanks for watching
