Fun things you learn about people. Bryan has a show where he travels around trying regional specialties (including Seattle Teriyaki!), but for him to not have tried some Boston specialties is slightly ironic. It's like the old joke about a guy from NYC who's asking for directions to the Grand Canyon at a gas station in Arizona. The old proprietor states, "You know, I've lived an hour away from the Grand Canyon my whole life, and I've never gone and seen it." Incredulously, the city slicker replies, "Really?! Well, that's a shame, but I understand. I've actually never went and visited the Statue of Liberty." To which the old man replies, "Oh, I've been there!"
I've never had a lobster roll I thought was particularly worth it for the money but this place was fantastic when I visited Boston - was super tender and tasty
San Diego has spots that serve belly fried clams & other fried seafood - Point Loma Seafood, Pete’s Seafood (they import belly clams from Ipswich Mass), etc. I remember having some in Long Beach too. Probably SF too.
I'm confused....this guy is an editor at Cook's Country and he's never had clams with the bellies? Most clams are served with the bellies and it's only those fast food type clam strips that DON'T have them.
When you eat steamed clams you eat the whole thing so why not fried. Raw clams are delicious, you eat the whole thing. Oysters ? You eat the whole thing!
I hate when my clams get like toffee gnomes
I could watch Kenji eat to the Smiths all day
Love that they're playing Morrissey in the background! I love that song!!!

Whole belly is the only way to eat fried clams.
Welcome back to Boston, Kenji! Where do you prioritize hitting up when you're here?
Like soft shelled crabs - best not to think too much about the insides

Kanjie da Creepe!
Yesss! clam roll is my favorite
I'm proud of myself for having been here? Very good lobster roll.
So you can get eastern softshell clams in Washington but only if you harvest them yourself. They're an invasive species here.

Why can't we get whole belly fried clams in Seattle!?
You definitely can, but I've found it's always at bars or sit-down restaurants rather than fast food seafood places like Ivar's.

That’s why I get strips.
👍👍
Did he eat all of the chicken teriyaki?
In his AMA h said he's done 19 out of 80-something spots and that he will definitely continue.
Every bit
Love the nails!
