To avoid any obstacle in opening doors, the BMW Z1 has the best door open system.
I never thought a door like that could existed, goddam, imagine those in futuristic hyper cars
And you can even drive with the doors "open". I had a Z1 for years, and was great to cruise a boulevard on a hot summer day with the doors down :)
If anything, the Lincoln MkVIII Disappearing doors were an improvement on the BMW Z1 door system.
Lots of options, but I loved the Dendrobium D-1 door, I thought it made the car even more beautiful!
The doors on the Dendrobian D1 look like it is ready to attack. I think all the lights should turn red like the Lost in Space Robot does when it is upset..

I was expecting to see the 1954 Kaiser Darrin. The doors open into the body of the car, the front wings to be exact. 435 apparently were produced.

I have a question that never occurred to me until now, what happens if you roll the model x and you end up upside down? Will they blow off like the doors on the sls? Or are you trapped

Tesla tried to roll it over and it literally wouldn't roll. But I'm assuming the in that case it wouldn't matter because even if you roll over in a regular car, the doors won't work.
I'm gonna give with the BMW Z1 simply because it was done so long ago and that it even made production lines

The Treznor canopy is hardly unique. There's been a few concept cars with the same idea, the Maserati Birdcage for one.
But they were beaten by a kit car from the early 70's in the UK called the Nova. Which was successful enough to be licensed to be built in different countries around the world, and itself spawned a 'cousin' that had gullwing doors called the Eagle, also in the UK.
Tesla's variant is the best in my opinion. There are two options in this car, you still can use conventional door to leave the car if something happens.
The last car seem the most practical.

Fantastic vid ! I've seen all of these before except the Russion last concept. That is truly wild and would be my favorite for a two-door, though structurally, I think the Koenig's pivoting door would be most practical. For a four-door, the Ford EVO concept with center hinged butterfly doors front and rear looks great. I thought I would like the Rezvani forward sliding door but it just doesn't work for me.
What about Ford B-MAX with its sliding rear doors and no B-Pillar. And Peugeot 1007 with its power sliding doors?

Most of those cars never made it out of concept stage. Out of all of them only the Z1 and the Model X were produced in great enough numbers to be counted... with the Z1 being a distant memory by now and a rather rare sight.
Only the Model X remains and prevailed. Funny that this is the only car that receives quite a negative touch in this video - again, despite the fact its the only one that made it to a non-limited mass production and is still available today.
Guess those doors aren´t as problematic after all as this one overly repeated clip might suggest (featuring one HIGHLY distracted driver).
Some of those cars, when they turn turtle in an accident, goodbye! 😊

Definitely i'm waiting for the yo moco car since i had around the same idea of sliding doors, unfortunately it been show how it gonna look so unpractical since the door usually have design that not the same shape with the body on the back wheel and front wheel

Koenigseggs doors are by far the best
I'll tell you why the Yo-Mobil concept car was never put into production, with the doors that slide backwards, it would be a huge liability in that it could smash into a car parked or waiting at a light behind it, not to mention the massive blind-spot it imposes. May need a an overhaul on design.
What nonsense! First off, ALL CARS have a LOW front part, are you unfamiliar with what cars look like? So even if these doors extended another door length, they wouldn't smash into a CAR. Secondly, they wouldn't even smash into a FLAT FRONTED BUS because even FULLY OPEN, they only extend less than 2 feet, so under than the distance that another vehicle would have to observe from the car in front. THIRDLY, you can see the doors only need to travel to they end at the exact length of the car if they are to let out just the person in the front seat, and one would imagine they would build a 2 step option for the length to be opened. Lastly, who would open the door AT THE LIGHTS?
And blind spot?? You don't DRIVE with them open, so why would that matter?
In conclusion you're wrong on all counts.

All these vehicles if they had an ability to take it to the air , it suited out there in the air , but not on land among the traffic or while parking, it's a pity to see the car getting scratches . Humans are very destructive in nature. So even if I buy one of each ,rather park it in my penthouses
