I'm very excited to be bringing out Capture One Tutorials. For the next video (Tutorial Tuesday) we're going to be looking at colour grading in Capture Pro, we'll also look at working with the layers but what else would you like to see in a future video? Is there anything in Capture One that you want covered in a video? Let me know down here in the comments :-)
Thanks! Just getting into Capture One after years of Lightroom (new Adobe terms of service are a deal breaker) and I'd forgotten what a learning curve was. Great info.
Last night I downloaded C1 and right now searched a tutorial on the TV and found yours. OMG, I loved it so much came to the pc to let you know I subscribed and hit the bell, thank you for what you're doing!
What an amazing teacher this guy is. I've tried watching the official Capture One Turorials, but the tutor there is just unable to get the message across with the same clarity and precision.
Very nice video for someone who like me, just downloaded Capture One yesterday and is starting to play around with it. So far, I'm quite impressed by its capabilities. Thanks again. Cheers!
I'm a music producer wanting to learn to make my track covers and this helped me soo much , cant wait to take this journey of learning Capture one with you mate. Please never stop making these kind of videos :)
You are really great at teaching as your style simply comes across as extremely helpful. I am looking forward to watching all of these videos on Capture One Pro and really learning how to get the most out of this great software. Thank You.
Great tutorial. Exactly what I needed to feel comfortable starting out with Capture One. I just got it and look forward to tethering to it. I have tethered in Lightroom but it was really lacking. You earned a sub. Thanks
As someone attempting to learn Capture One after a career in Lightroom, this is a helpful intro. As far as future videos, how about one on using plugins, like NIK and Topaz. Thanks.
My PC-Win version 2020 has at least 2 annoying bugs that have not been fixed within 3 months, and the prospect is "one to two releases" out in an uncertain future. Thank you Capture One for caring so well for your Mac customers!
Dud I really like your style and your Great accent I am trying to keep up I know nothing about Capture one but I will lean with Gods help and you voids
Thank you Park Cameras.. A great and very clear tutorial!! I look ford to the others. I would love you to do one with a further explanation of the Library, explaining how to best work with images which are on different drives on the computer.. Keep up the good work! Alan
I'm struggling with organizing files getting very confused 😕 I'm not very good but if I have it explained a little further. Other than that I think I can work with this. Awesome video
I followed your instructions to create a new session in CO and then a new folder. It created the folders but left the raw photos along with the subfolders, not in the Capture folder. Any ideas? You explain very well. looking for new videos
Very clear explanation specially about Sessions. Just starting off with Capture1 from Lightroom. Before I dive into Capture1 , I wanted to know if there is Luminosity Mask as that of lightroom? Also in lightroom after importing RAW photos we can assign a Picture Profile like Standard, Portrait, Landscape, etc, which for me is a good starting point and reduces a lot of time in certain situations. I didnt find these two options here.
Thanks for the great explanation. When you export does that create a new photo which takes up double the file size? Ie.. two photos.... original plus edited, does it chew up more disk space?
Very interesting and explained, thanks! Subscribed. Could you do a video about how exactly use the noise reduction in combination with sharpening and structure? For example on high ISO images. Couldn’t find a thorough explanation anywhere. Thanks in advance.
I have been watching your presentation with interest. Just wondering if there is a way to delete unwanted sessions and what are the implications of deleting a catalogue.
This is amazing. I have downloaded the trial and was looking for videos to assist with learning. I started yrs ago in PS then have tried to utilize LR but am forever frustrated with it. I really think this could be the software that I fall in love with. Love the layers and having more flexibility than LR but being able to do PS like edits within the raw processing!
Thank you so much! I got capture 1 to use with tethering but quickly got confused. However, a couple of questions from a long time LR / Photoshop user, how do I integrate my existing library of photos with the capture 1 guys? And, does capture 1 have a print module?
Well explained, feeling more comfortable working in Capture one. Would like to see how Infra Red photos are processed. I was originnally working with lightroom but have a new computer and opted for Capture one after reading the ratings. Keep up the good work!
An interesting video and I'll certainly be taking an interest in the rest of the series. Currently I use Lightroom v6.12 because, although old, it works and I wasn't keen on the subscription model. I also have Affinity Photo although to tell the truth I haven't really got to grips with it because I can do most of what I need with LR. Since I've got a Sony camera, I've got the free Capture One 20 Express (for Sony) but again haven't used it because LR does most of what I need. At some point my version of LR will need to be upgraded but, I suppose, my first question is why should I change to Capture One with all the attendant hassles of learning new software, workflow and bringing in old photos/catalogues rather than bite the bullet and simply go for an Adobe subscription? Hopefully your videos will provide the answers (including how it deals with cataloging). NB Whilst I can purchase Capture One 20 (for Sony) at a good price, their website does push you down the subscription route therefore how long before it's subscription only?
Just started on my C1 journey. I was aware that panos are not a thing the software does at all but at some point can you discuss possible options for plugins? This was my main reservation about choosing between LS and C1....so having taken the plunge can you help please!
Hi, Excellent series, Question, I have over 10,000 photo's in LR, in setting up CapturePro should I import into CapturePro thus duplicating the same files or is it OK to set CapturePro as the same folder as I use in LR?
Can you do a video on how you deal with photos that are all in Lightroom? Would you have to go and create separate 'sessions' for all your photos? Or maybe there is a way of impoting them? Thanks!! Great video and easy to follow you and your explanations - thank you.
If I have just done all my corrections and now process that image, can I use the s@me settings to place on the next image and trim it fractionally?. Just keep the correction live and place on the images that have been shot under the same conditions.?
I am a LONG time Aperture editor. As you can imagine, since Apple dropped this product in 2015 and stopped all support in 2019, I'm having more and more trouble using it. I know that I have to switch. I have heard all the arguments for both Lightroom and Capture One. What I REALLY want to know is; As an Aperture user, is the transition EASIER to Lightroom or Capture One. I am hoping that you have some insight to share with me on that. Thank you!!
Looks good and think I could well get into this but does it do stacking as I often take 3 images to get all the tones correctly, great vid which a lot of helpful info
Great video, that really helps. I used to have photo shop and with the new Sony and computer ( Mac ). I did a thing called focus stacking and photoshop stitched them together. Can I do that with what I'm using Capture One 20?
I don't think there is currently a way to do that within Capture One by itself. There is a plugin called Helicon Focus which I believe is made for exactly that :-)
I bought an old iMac desktop with Capture One (not Capture One Pro) software. When I click on the Capture One shortcut at the desktop, I get a totally different screen, not the one that I see on your video. So I guess I have to click on anything until I see a screen that looks like yours.
Just starting out in Capture One 20 Express and I don't have "New Catalogue" or "New Session" but rather IMPORT Catalogue/Session...am I missing something?
Hi Park Cameras, I created a new session and imported a few pictures as instructed but when I checked the folder “Capture” and there was no pictures. What must have gone wrong? Your feedback is much appreciated.
Thank you for this introduction, I enjoyed it. As a LR user, I'm still a little unclear about the idea of Sessions in Capture One. How is this comparable to a LR catalogue of all my images?
how can you add writing to the image? I am trying to do a logo on a white screen and only just starting with photoshop so not sure Capture One allows that.
as I moved my whole library (70k pictures) capture one have forgot all the masks on adjustment layer. So every bit of cloning and healing has to be done ones again... horror. do somebody have any idea how to rectify the problem?
I have many thousand edited photos in iCloud. I need a suggested work flow to transfer my images into Capture One 2020. Can you suggest a way to do this?
Thank you for creating this video. Just getting back in to photography after a few years away. (Just a hobby). I'm seriously considering moving to Capture One as I'm tired of the Adobe subscription model. How would you suggest to import my current photos, both those in LR catalogs and those not, in a meaningful way to keep them organized and utilize the Capture One functionality.
Hi, great start up video. The only thing I have trouble understanding with Capture One is, are the original files stored on an external hard drive as you would with Lightroom, or are they imported to the same drive on which Capture is running?
For my limited experience using C1, on the import screen you can choose to either copy the files into the catalog, efectively storing them wherever you tell it to; or add into the catalog, which just points to the actual file path which can be an external drive or even a network drive. So you can do any of those.
I notice that importing roughly 850 RAW files into a "new session", using the subscription version of Capture One 20 (for Nikon), it's taken about 18 minutes to import. Would this process be faster using the non-subscription version of the software?
When I import photos into my session, the photos appear in the session folder that I created. They did not go into the 'Capture' folder. The 'Capture' folder is also in the session folder that I created, but it is empty. Did I have a misstep in my 'Import' action?
I'm very excited to be bringing out Capture One Tutorials. Dude, you're an exceptional teacher. I love your energy and flow. Keep it up!
I just downloaded Capture One, and don't have a clue; your video is a great resource for me. Thank you !
This is fantastic. Very well explained. I am coming over from LR. Looking forward to using this to maximize my fujifilm photos. Thank you!
Thanks! Just getting into Capture One after years of Lightroom (new Adobe terms of service are a deal breaker) and I'd forgotten what a learning curve was. Great info.

Your clear explanations are a truly blessing ! Thank you for doing this
Great video, straight talking and impressive for learning the basics which I desperately need ... 10/10
One hint for folder names, prefix with an ISO/SQL date format of YYYYMMDD so they get sorted properly!
GREAT tutorial! Just moved from LR to C1 - was scary, but your training HELPS!
I have just purchased C1 and this is a Great tutorial for newbies and very well presented thank you
Very good video. Just what I was waiting for. Looking forward to the rest of the series
Awesome choice for my first Capture One tutorial. I appreciate your energy!
I'm a music producer wanting to learn to make my track covers and this helped me soo much , cant wait to take this journey of learning Capture one with you mate. Please never stop making these kind of videos :)
That's so great to hear! :-)
Great work thank you so much your videos and tutorials are the best. Please make more capture 1 videos.
You are really great at teaching as your style simply comes across as extremely helpful. I am looking forward to watching all of these videos on Capture One Pro and really learning how to get the most out of this great software. Thank You.
This is one of the best tutorials i've ever seen. Thank you so much for this, you are so clear and logical when explaining!
With those layers, wow 😮 I'm sold
I love how you explain things! Thank you for this video.
Thanks for this ! Just downloaded capture one for my Fuji raw files and I needed this tutorial.
Oh man, I'm audience from Taiwan. Love your tutorial so much. Cheers.
That's awesome to hear, thank you :-)
Thanks, I have just downloaded the trial version of Capture One and you are helping me to understand about it.
Very interesting. I shall watch your other Capture One tutorials.
Amazing and clearly explained!
simply excellent and informative. thank you.
very well explained video for me as just starting out in any kind of editing, easy to follow. thanks, subscribed
Good to see this. There's a lot of Lighroom videos out there, not so many on C1Pro.
Very informative and helpful more on Layers and colour grading thanks
Thank you very much for your share. I just study capture one in this month.
Very clear and very enjoyable to learn Capture One thank you so much!
Wonderful video mate! Thanks
Great tutorial. Exactly what I needed to feel comfortable starting out with Capture One. I just got it and look forward to tethering to it. I have tethered in Lightroom but it was really lacking. You earned a sub. Thanks
This is really useful! Could you possibly make a video about naming the images and all the different ways to do it ect? Thank you!!
As someone attempting to learn Capture One after a career in Lightroom, this is a helpful intro. As far as future videos, how about one on using plugins, like NIK and Topaz. Thanks.
Yes, how do we integrate plug-ins?
@@jody1622 Image>edit with.
Thank you!
My PC-Win version 2020 has at least 2 annoying bugs that have not been fixed within 3 months, and the prospect is "one to two releases" out in an uncertain future. Thank you Capture One for caring so well for your Mac customers!
Since you asked I wonder if you already have a video on Tethering, cropping and print. I'm using it for head shots on location printing.
Fantastic tutorial. You have a great way of explaining things and making it easy to understand. Nice work.
Thank you, that's really great to hear :-)
Dud I really like your style and your Great accent I am trying to keep up I know nothing about Capture one but I will lean with Gods help and you voids
Thanks! That's very useful video. I'm now off to download my free trial and test on my Fuji shots!
Terrific beginner tutorial! Thx!
Great video...very easy to understand and well presented. Thanks!
And yeah, being able to edit curves and everything else on layers totally gave me a nerdgasm.
Thank you Park Cameras.. A great and very clear tutorial!! I look ford to the others.
I would love you to do one with a further explanation of the Library, explaining how to best work with images which are on different drives on the computer..
Keep up the good work! Alan
Thanks Alan, that's a great suggestion :-)
I'm struggling with organizing files getting very confused 😕
I'm not very good but if I have it explained a little further.
Other than that I think I can work with this.
Awesome video
Outstanding and informative.
I really like your personality haha super helpful video
Thanks!! Great job explaining... I'm subscribed
Thanks for the video - very informative!
Bangin video man! Really clear and to the point. This helped a lot with my switch from LR. :)
Amazing video mate

fine video. looking forward to more!
Would love to see a detailed C1 tutorial about the denoise capabilities and dealing with / avoiding artefacts
That's a great idea, I'll definitely look to do one on that :-)
Lightroom is crying watching this in the corner of the room.
Yes. Would be nice!
Nice one I will have to get This capture one . Can you Sync Photos in this capture same as Lightroom . Thanks
Great video, thanks. And BTW, it's good to see a UA-cam Photography content provider not using the almost inevitable Mac.
I have been watching your presentation with interest. Just wondering if there is a way to delete unwanted sessions and what are the implications of deleting a catalogue.
Thanks Park Cameras
This is amazing. I have downloaded the trial and was looking for videos to assist with learning. I started yrs ago in PS then have tried to utilize LR but am forever frustrated with it. I really think this could be the software that I fall in love with. Love the layers and having more flexibility than LR but being able to do PS like edits within the raw processing!
There is a brush toll (shortcut K) that can do precise masking like the one you are describing at 12'30"
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A VIDEO SHOWING HOW TO MOVE IMAGES FROM FOLDER TO FOLDER PLUS CREATING FOLDERS.
Your explanations are superb, but the lack of clarity on the screenshot of C1 makes it very difficult to apply to one's own machine.
Thank you so much! I got capture 1 to use with tethering but quickly got confused. However, a couple of questions from a long time LR / Photoshop user, how do I integrate my existing library of photos with the capture 1 guys? And, does capture 1 have a print module?
Hi I got capture one and I suppose to have some pictures there but looks like I lost them do you think you can help me to get them back
Well explained, feeling more comfortable working in Capture one. Would like to see how Infra Red photos are processed. I was originnally working with lightroom but have a new computer and opted for Capture one after reading the ratings. Keep up the good work!
thank you this tutorial was useful
I bought the pro to do custom wire diagrams can I draw straight lines and curves thanks for the video
An interesting video and I'll certainly be taking an interest in the rest of the series.

very impressive teaching. But needs updating because Lightroom does have really good layering such as choosing objects, intersect etc

Wish Capture One had focus stacking I think its complete after that as its already getting HDR merge and panoramic stitch.
Great video! Just subscribed!
I have thousands of photos in Lightroom Classic. How do I integrate Capture One Pro with my existing libraries?
