If you're not already aware, there's a PSU tier list by Cultists Network that's highly regarded. This PSU is actually one of the few PSUs that's in "Tier F - Replace Immediately". It was a blessing in disguise that they came DOA. If someone bought a build of yours with this PSU they would've had issues very soon, and it could've damaged your reputation as a seller. Love the vids btw!

I'm glad you like my videos! Thank you for the kind words 🙂. I have known about the PSU Tier List for some time now and have even referenced it a few times in the past. However, I did not do my due diligence checking these models on the list and just wanted to give them a try. I'm well aware that Ares Game is also in F tier.. But I have used over several Ares Game PSU's with great results and no issues thus far. My personal PC once upon-a-time had a Ares Game 550W unit for 2-1/2 years running a Ryzen 5 2600x and a RTX 3060 no problem. It's still going strong as my "test psu" now for just quickly wanting to test motherboards and etc.

I personally stay away from white rated power supplies for builds, bronze as a minimum for efficiency for me. It's not the only metric that matters, just something I go by. I also stick the PSU tier list, C tier PSU's at a minimum. There's always somebody who chimes in and says they've had an F tier for 33 years and it not only powered their machine but also laid eggs everyday for breakfast. Yes, the tier list is not absolute, but it's served me well thus far. Great video!

Interesting video. You had the 80+ White tier PSU's. Most of the time I only use 80+ Gold or Higher tier rated PSU's. In this respect you get what you P$y for. 80+ White tier PSU's probably should be avoided. The lowest 80+ tier of PSU I might consider would be bronze - but I have used 80+ Gold and above. Thanks for this video.

I've never had any issues with thermaltake psu's . I've been building with them since 2004 .

My store has replaced more thermal take 80 plus white power supplies than any other brand or power supply line ever. The 600 watt ketchup mustard cables one specifically is notoriously a fire hazard and is extremely lightweight. We always joke that the heavier the power supply generally the better the quality is but it's pretty accurate. Apevia 80 + bronze power supplies are probably a close second. We never really saw any large amounts of gigabyte power supplies but for my understanding they were made by the same odm as thermal takes 80 + white power supply. They're 80 plus gold power supplies are generally fine. What's funny is thermaltake probably makes the only good power supply tester on the market the doctor power so they know damn well how to make a power supply correctly they just choose not to because it's what people most likely buy is the cheapest thing and their brand has enough mainstream recognition to sell their product. Also warranting anything with them is extremely difficult. They'll find any way to weasel out of a warranty and if their power supply took out a component then you're going to be stuck with the bill for the damaged part because they will never cut a check for the damage. Same thing applies to their water coolers. My heartburn with thermaltake was the fact that they ran caselabs out of business by just cloning their cases and selling them for half the price period and they don't have to worry about copyright laws cuz they're in China. I know at this point they've designed a few of their own cases that are unique designs but as a matter of principle we as a shop have avoided working with them outside of buying their power supply testers

I've built about 30 builds using TT PSU's and had 0 issues. The only time I had a dud was the Corsair 750e I bought for a personal build, damn thing melted down in the case cost me a mobo and 7800xt

That's very interesting, I'm curious on what models you've used exactly? I'm glad they have treated you well! Sorry to hear about that Corsair PSU causing that damage and loss of your mobo and GPU.

@@RyesTechWorld I've used a lot of the 600W Bronze supplies, a few of the 600W White supplies and got to looking in a recent build that just sold had a used 500W White that tested fine. Your video got me thinking to switch PSU's for awhile to Aresgame or another budget friendly option.

Wondering how old is this ThermalTake logo, i think those PSU are so old they reached expiration date, also i never buy PSU below 80gold ( which has nothing to do with PSU quality, i know ).
