Join me as I discuss some of the key news items to come up within the trading card and sports card hobby over the past week. Typical news items range from card grading news, scammers within the hobby and any other cool trading card updates that I think are relevant.
As mentioned in the past, I put these together to share my thoughts on the trading card hobby so that my viewers and fellow collectors can make informed decisions.

This was why I collected vintage. Why should the common collector spend their hard earned money to open new product when the best hits are strategically sent to selected breakers and individuals.
Smart. It makes me sick to think how many times I was potentially 'drawing dead' on a $500 box of wax. I'm 99% certain that I purchased resealed wax from BO in 2018. I didn't just get the worst jumbo box of 2015 Bowman Draft but I got 3 of the very worst. The odds of that is virtually impossible unless there has been scamming. I have zero faith in BO or any of the big distributors vetting older sealed wax they purchase on the secondary market. They wouldn't give two %$&^* anyway. They buy it and move it on to the bag holder. I'll buy wax around release time or if the shop is still holding their original allocation that they have not sold through. There is no way I would buy older wax. It's too risky and totally not worth it as there are too many scumbags in this space. P.S. I recently watched Layton open two hobby boxes of 2018 NFL Prizm which they must have bought on the secondary market. Those boxes were sus af.

That’s funny that even Dana white seems to know the concept of loaded boxes. While I don’t believe these breakers are given loaded boxes, these photo-op promo things clearly are rigged!!😂😂😂 it’s amazing how players seem to hit their own auto card 😀
My thoughts exactly, it’s all a bit of fun for promoting the product, I just wish it was more transparent.
I like the Topps hobby shop grading, I have a good friend who owns a shop and for whatever reason he doesn't have any singles out. Its only wax and the wax selection isn't that great.
It will certainly be a net positive if they do it the right way. Its something they could easily go too far on and do more harm than good though
I can GUARANTEE that brick and mortar shops are the only type of shop to actually "win" a negotiation in. Places like cards hq are up to the minute. Way different than finding a single for $25 that was priced 5 months ago and now pushes $200. The companies producing AND selling the cards cant be the only people that win. Cuz if not, we may as well go to the casino and win 1/5 times, rather than just get boned 100% of the time.

Lol I have to watch that video with Dana and rubin. I love Dana, he don't give af. He got money too he'll tell it how it is. Rubin goes around giving loaded boxes to celebs. He thinks we stupid.
There are former topps workers that have said on record that they know where all the boxes are going purposely. The boxes have certain numbers that are given to the big breakers and stores that support.
I thought this was a fake rumour
@@DanTheCardMan2I remember something similar happening with crown royal basketball not too long ago where certain numbers on the box meant a big hit was inside.

Coming from someone that works at an old school style LCS, interacting with customers is fine and all, but we’re not a local hangout or a barbershop type place. It’s not my job to entertain people trying to kill time between appointments, wanna hang because they’re bored, etc. I have work to do. Happy to help you, but do your business and move on. The “sterile” style of Cards HQ isn’t such a bad thing IMO. I realize the “hang out” is supposedly part of the LCS experience but it has its limits. Topps will take our allocated supply regardless lol. Thanks for the content anyway big Dan!
I agree they will take it eventually. All the local LCS's in my area have already had their allocation cut in half or worse.

Hey Dan what do you think about breakers not finding redemption in there case breaks but when I point it out they go back live sometime after and magically find a couple after I say something in a dm but breakers always blame panini for shorting them

Dan, Love the content as always. Regarding the “grading” of hobby shops. I think it is a tough one. Obviously as a business that can make any requirements, they deem fit whether we like them or not. I would say though that just because a shop does the things Topps wants, does not mean that shop will be sterile (as you reference), there are a couple of local shops around me that meet all Topps requirements but know all the customers and still have a true LCS feel to it. On the flip side, some of the older shops could still survive without allocation. It is not a requirement albeit much tougher. I think I see it as a conscience decision by shop owners whether or not they want to “play ball.” Do I love that Topps is doing this? Of course not but I do not think it is as bad as many are concerned about. I am not firm in my opinion and I am sure it will shift but this is where I am at currently. Thanks again for the hard work all the time and hope the little one is doing well.

Hey dan. Just watches the whole break. I've gathered a few things from that break with dana white and michael rubin. Dana is a straight shooter and a great business man. He realized before this break that rubin is a snake. This was just confirmation for him. Dana was laughing in hystaria cause he knows most of thoes boxes was a made for that occasion and rigged. On the other hand the other 2 were laughing cause of nerves. And that's why rubin wouldn't look into the camera and had to explain about loaded boxes and the company topps they hired. My personal opinion

So the Seller of these cards, his profile says Located in Australia, but his listings are in Arizona.... 🤔🤔🤔 adds more questions about the seller

My opinion on BG has dropped. Not so sure he also wasn't also participating in providing juiced boxes to some at the expense of other clients without influencer status so I could careless about his opinion towards the Hobby is. Just another viper in a den of vipers.

Easy don't buy graded cards online. of course, there is box loading going on do you think these guys would get this excited if it was a regular box, getting excited is part of the game.

Well if they’re graded altered I think people like the cheaper price point I guess
@@DanTheCardMan2 Yeah? pft I guess. I wouldnt even consider it. Theres just something about a card someones boogered up. Cutting, painting, dying, whatever they are doing. It doesnt sound appealing to me. Now I went and watched this guy's comtent to see what drew him into it. The takeaway I got was he felt like it was a more valuable one of one sort of card. Like he was getting a deal.
My ex wife bought me a big name 1960s rookie card about 15 years ago that was graded a 10 by PRO. I was in and out of cards back then and not too familiar with all the grading companies. When I finally dove into that card years later, I cracked it out and sent to SGC and came back evidence of trimming. PSA said same thing. So ended up sending to CGC to get it in a nice slab with AA on it and still have it displayed to this day. Great looking Nolan Ryan rookie card, but I didn't buy it and was trimmed years before I even had it. ALOT of vintage cards are altered and unless you buy one graded from one of the big four grading companies, most likely it's altered or just in terrible shape.
@@floridamaddogg yeah I get that but what I am saying is why are they purposely buying them knowing its altered. This wasn't a find out later deal. This was know for a fact its altered and still buy it. I am with you though. I have received my fair share of cut cards. I wasnt hunting for them though.
@@JoeKyser I hear ya! True collectors just want a nice looking card and don't care if it's trimmed. I would probably have more luck selling my Rookie Ryan card in a CGC holder with AA on it then if I was trying to sell it raw. I have thought about selling it, but said Nah, I'll just keep it for now.

@@DanTheCardMan2 I definitely did I guess, stop being one of those negative click bait guys man, your above that. I watch breakers all the time hype up cheap cards in breaks. A Casual card person would say “loaded boxes” and a smart person would say those are cheap cards.
