Awesome video This is my next project for the Acty I also feel like everywhere online with editing it looks like mechanic jobs are done in 7 1/2 minutes and it takes me an entire day 😅
My experience ended up being even worse than yours because of the two nuts at the cat. I ended up making a video on my channel covering how bad it got! Glad to know I’m not alone!
You need to connect those two tubes you disconnected from the exhaust. Find a pipe from a hardware store that will fit inside them and clamp them down together. That tube was meant for cold morning to send warm air from the airbox up the carburetor. If you leave them open it’s just going to pull dirt and dust into your system.
Leak fixed: ua-cam.com/users/shorts3wXLwmsRlfs?si=Qt4A9aeO-g-_vRi4 Update: I had a slight leak from the exhaust flange. I needed to remove the existing bolts, (had to cut and drill them out) replace them with longer ones, and then I added the included gasket ring. No leak since then.
What did you do with the two hoses you removed from the stock muffler? It looks like you just left them hanging. I’m not positive but I have heard from other people, that those hoses need to be connected together with a tube or copper pipe or you will not have heat.
Hey @Dougnashz, my bad! I didn't have a way to mount my camera on the back of the truck in this video. I might upload as a YT short with the engine reviving
@@totallyjonesin Hi, from my understanding they are not for the cabin heater. They get the engine to operating temps faster. But as I am in a hot climate I do not need to reconnect them
Haven’t done a ton of highway riding. However, preliminary testing reveals its not much louder than the stock muffler. (I have the silencer installed currently)
@@JulesMariani Also removal and installation is a bit of a pain, I would recommend taking pictures and marking your vacuum hoses so you know where they go back on. And probably plan on doing it over a few days if you can afford to, it's just too much to manage removal, thorough cleaning and then reinstalling all in one go for a beginner with basic hand tools. That's how I did it anyway.

Very well done! That's a really hard job. It sounds great!
It was very challenging for me, but glad I could do it!
Would love to hear a good rev or two!❤ please consider making a short. Lmk if you do!
I used ramps at the rear and used a universal swivel and socket.job completed in under and hour
Awesome job
Thank you!
I actually ordered the same exhaust for 98 Acty. I can’t wait for it to get here.
Nice!! I hope your install is smooth sailing!

Yeah, it took me a lot of effort 😅! The job would definitely be easier with an extra set of hands. Good luck with your project!
Great job! About to do this myself and appreciate the candid frustration that others edit out making me feel like a putz!
It was a tough job for me! Definitely would be better if you could get an extra hand. Good luck!

Keep up the good work

Hey what kind of pipe did you use?
I couldn’t use the crusher ring either but it didn’t leak.driving without the baffle was a bit noisy for me
I'm impressed! 😱
Securing the nuts 🔩 is everything but sometimes you have to loosen the nuts after and try again 😆😭😂 great install video 👌🏽
Me too. I’m going to drown the bolts in penetrating oil. Lol
Great job. I admire your tenacity. Please wear some eye protection. Some good mechanic gloves a good idea too.

Hi, yes, I ended up connecting my hoses at a later date. I created a YT short for it here: ua-cam.com/users/shortsJcX6uU80r3k?si=BQB7K7UyL7nar-Bx
good job ! how much time ? it doesn't matter i call it therapy !
Sounds like you need a new battery or maybe a starter
Nice install
But you didn’t rev the motor so we can hear how it sounds

Great job young lady.Exhaust systems are sometime a pain in the A$$. I like the sound, is it too loud on the highway??????

It should really fire up immediately. Might be a mixture or starter issue.
Mixture issue? I’m not sure, I need to do further investigation
@@JulesMariani Have you cleaned the carb and played with the idle mixture?
Hi, no I haven’t done that yet. I’m very new to working on cars. Any recommended videos to check out for that job?

Wd40/pb would of made those hangers slip off
Tried pb, but it didn’t budge. Gave it a good effort, but decided to cut them out as they weren’t necessary to save in the end
