Man, rest in peace Kenrith Family. The Phyrexians really messed up so many planes with their meer presence, even scarring a fantasy and somewhat peaceful world like Eldraine. Man, this really makes me want to watch a MTG show thats as well developed as this trailer.

Interested to know what happened to them as well. Only know that Jenrith was turned into a Deer and then went back to Normal and that he died

My best friend died 3 months ago, Hiroyuki Sawano was literally her life.. she woke up with his music, went to sleep with his music, she heard his music when she was sad, when she was happy, he was a huge part of her life... Same goes to me with Magic the Gathering.. And this trailer... combines both.. You can't imagine, how meaningful this one video is for me...
Yeah Will is supposedly weaker than Rowan but matches her step for step while also having to lead the Knights, keep Rowan from killing people with lightning, dealing with a sleeping curse making him and his forces weaker putting them on a time limit, having to coordinate with Ruby and Kellan who he's never even talked with before, is the offensive force against a defensive one in a castle, and keeping his prosthetic leg functioning at all times with magic.
Like Will in the story honestly is like the meme of the ladies looking like they're screaming at a cat.
Everyone: Will is a fake king and his ways don't work.
Also Will: Only person trying to keep the Realm together, has the majority of the Knights by his side at the end, and is having to deal with his evil Aunt and driven to madness by grief sister.
I was thinking the same thing. Rowan was casually cutting into mountains in the distance *before* she was taught about her power.
Will has the stronger "Will" to power.
He isn't following the rules of the story, and thus no one on Eldraine respects him until they see just what he's capable of. But while Rowan was learning new and exciting ways to electrocute people at Strixhaven, Will apparently took some courses in realpolitik.
Ergo, this is all the Silverquills' fault. ;)

Nothing new to add other than to agree with the many comments requesting for a full anime MTG series. First kamigawa, and now Eldraine. I had a major blast with this set during Prerelease and this anime trailer just made me love this set more and more. Hope to pull one of the anime alternate art cards someday lol.

this set was also trash. role tokens dead on release; bargain is a joke because buying magic the gathering at all is a rip off and celebrate.. is kinda okay just not new at all and only makes things more confusing. whole god damn paragraph on every card with it.

A full anime and manga series based on Eldraine (and Kamigawa too) NEEDS to happen!
First it was Ishikawa Yui and Umehara Yuichiro's involvement already made me excited. Then, finding out this animation was made by Studio Pierrot made me amped some more.
Last, to finally knew that the ost was done by the king of modern anime ost, SAWANO HIROYUKI just made my day.
but this animation was terrible, why would it amp you up. the song was good but the trailer itself was suuuuuper generic fantasy anime nonsense with every badly-hidden animation budget hiding tactic under the sun
Probably because they had to rush a trailer out by release day. Also, 99% of all anime today is generic. And fuck, ill take a generic fantasy anime over another isekai any day (although I'm a sucker for a good leveling style isekai).

I at least hope they managed to sneak in an homage to that in at least one of the cards, probably one of the anime ones ?!

the music, maybe. the animation screamed "budget". like, the "camera shake" and blurring constantly is a very common budget move to make it seem like there's more animation than there actually is. this was terrible compared to the kamigawa trailer, for example. that one wasn't amazing, but it certainly was smarter with its animation to hide the parts with less frames. this, it feels like all the budget went into getting the song.
@@AStandsForFrench true, there wasn't much animation going on besides the sword fight. The rest was all still frames with some shaking and procedural effects, just like in the older MtG set trailers, but now with Anime style. It's apparent that they didn't assign more budget than usual.
No put more money in QC, misprints, typos, mispackaging, card quality.

In this age of adaptations, Magic is a must! So much lore, so much epicness, definitely would watch.
This was GREAT! I agree with what others have said: You would do well to follow in the footsteps of Riot Games and put more money into your videos/animations --- really excellent stuff. I don't even _like_ anime but I really love that you're experimenting with new styles, keep it up!

Wow this got me fully invested in the Rowan/Will plot line! I think the design and aesthetics of this set are superb
Very interesting to see how Walkers react when they find out where they stand in the Desparkening. Interested to see how long the "one planeswalks per set" rule lasts. Ashiok being one of who can still walk is very, very interesting.
I wouldn't say interesting more obvious, Ashiok wouldn't make any sense as a character without the ability to do so. The character identity is very much tied to it's elusiveness and just showing up randomly compared to staying on one plane. Meanwhile will and rowan make sense because naturally their own plane matters the most to them and that's what they are fighting for so they have no real need for planeswalking tbh.
@@thek838 Ashiok is interesting because of how much of an enigma they are, and how hands off there power set is. The previous big thing we've seen them do was feed nightmares to Elesh Norn. Meaning they were on New Phyrexia undetected for an indeterminate amount of time, or they're power extends through the blind eternities. Now we were given the most hands on expression of their power with them marionetting a battalion of Sleepers.
@@davidmcc9141 feeding nightmares to Norn may be more impressive then one thinks cause again either was in the DEEPEST part of phyrexia for who knows how long, either causing the realm shield to go up or getting through it or was able to not only reach Elesh Norn across planes with their powers but also knew enough to get the powers to work on Elesh Norn

I’m just going to buy the anime arts instead of try to pull them. I might buy a collector booster later but I’d rather buy them separately these days
@@hawthorneplays To get the cards you want, buying singles has always been the right answer. Crack packs to draft or to enjoy the cracking experience, not to get anything specific.

Would love to have a MTG anime series. Innistrad and Eldraine are my favorite planes and it would be amazing to see the worlds unfold in a beautiful and haunting anime!

Eldraine 2 is litteraly the worst set they released in a long time
Horribly-designed mechanics, Horrible Art lead, and Uplayable/Boring Cards

Pollen shield hare, archon of the wild rose, the additions to faeries, charming scoundrel, spiteful hexmage, virtue of persistence like i can keep going the set has more than a few good - very good cards inside of it red probably got the least interesting stuff but outside of that there is plenty to work with in this set

Would have to disagree, both are great as they depict two very different sides of the story that perfectly capture the plane. One captures the wonder and magic and hope, the other captures war loss and despair. Therefore I would say both were what they needed to be.
The possibilities of intermingling anime and mtg are thrilling. After the aftermath things are ripe for having previously isolated worlds getting explored. I suggest Wizards partners with a skilled anime company to create an original story within the themes of the color pie under as much of their creative control as possible and then make top down designed cards from the result.
Bro a seasonal anime covering different planes and the planeswalkers would be absolutely incredible! This was so flippin good holy cow! WOTC YOU NEED TO MAKE A SHOW! this literally sold it!
Great stuff. More supplemental content like this please! In particular I hope y'all go back to making full OSTs for your sets. Kamigawa's was hit or miss but New Capenna had some real bangers.

You can tell this was kinda rushed animation-wise, there's a lot of loops, recycled frames and stuff but if WOTC pushed a bit harder I can definitely see something good come out of it.

Magic: The Gathering would make an amazing series for Netflix, I've read the comics and I can tell you the lore has a lot to offer. You guys should do like Riot and turn your game into a series.

I don't think this one is quite as good as the neon dynasty anime trailer, but it's close. hope we'll get one of these for every set going forward

1) This trailer was awesome from the animation and voice acting and makes me really excited to get the new set.
2) There truly isn't a song written by Hiroyuki Sawano, whether it be for an anime or a trailer like this that isn't just a banger right out of the gate.

Will got up,adjusted himself and turned around.
"Go forward with the rebuilding and restoration of ardenvale. We will also set out for the journey the second we are able."
"Another thing my lord. We also found this group led by him. Aparently they survived the battle."
Will noticed kellan and his group and nodded.
"Show them to the guest room. Dismissed."
The knights led them away as will stared out in the thundering horizon. Frost began covering the area a little as wills emotions began cracking before aserting.
"Rowan...im going to help you...just please..."
Rowan came inside somberly.

that is gonna be some interesting character development next time Eldraine shows up. Will setting up a new way of government that makes the realm less prone to suffer instability due to depending on a single head of state, Rowan becoming the third greatest witch in the plane now that Agatha got cooked.

Why havent they licensed out Magic for some kind of movie,anime, live action show, or manga? Like its a world wide successful fantasy IP with tons of realms and stories, this would have a huge built in fanbase already too..

Damn they got Pierot to animate this. While it wasn’t super impressive since there were a lot of stills and reused panels it came together really well and fluidly. Would love to see hasbro throw some real money at an anime studio to pump out a solid series. Still waiting on the Netflix Chandra series everyone forgot too.
I thought this for a long time, but I think magic the gathering would make a great TV show or movie, and now I feel like there’s someone in wizards of the coast that believes that too
