@@JDsHouseofHobbies I've noticed that, for me, when I use CA to glue pieces on models that are already painted, there tends to be a "halo" around the glue spots, as if the paint is being affected adversely. Do you find that happens? I've started using canopy glue instead to mitigate that effect for tiny pieces, and it seems strong enough over time.
How do you operate your switches? Are the frogs powered or dead? Do the turnout indicators rotate? Thanks I enjoy your op sessions By the way, what is the length of the industrial portion and the staging portion? Do you have an extension added to the staging portion beyond your engine display?
Switches have springs and I operate them by hand, and the frogs are currently not powered. The switch stands are decorative only and don't move. Each side is 40" long, and I have fold down staging shelves on both sides of the layout, the right side for incoming trains, and the left side for spotting inside the warehouse.
Thank you for your reply. Do you have current keepers in the engines? Boomer mentioned his layouts had dead frogs and he operated without a problem. I am still debating whether to build a small shelf layout in N or HO scale. I have about 9' of room once the old 4'x8' train table is removed. How long are the fold down staging shelves on each end? Was the extension of the industry (left) side up to hold the grain car in this op session?
@@rexroad9917 some of my locos have them, some don't, but I haven't had any issues with unpowered frogs personally. I have a series of videos on the build process of the layout on my channel if you'd like more dimensions and such. This one goes over the staging shelves: ua-cam.com/video/3oCeLNevBYw/v-deo.html
Thanks for posting! Always enjoy your layout sessions. You give me inspiration to build a small switching layout.
Nice little ops session. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Nice operation session!
Your layout looks like a lot of fun to operate. Thanks for posting.-Tom
Thanks, it is! Although admittedly it has created a larger appetite for more railroad...
Very nice! Switching is much more interesting.
very nice switching engine sounds great
Man! That loco sounds great! I can't wait to get my locos out and finally running!
Just another day in the life of a local switch crew. Thanks Joey.
Nice switchout Joey! - Jason
very very cool.
The only thing missing is the exhaust. Any out there that actually have smoke?
I think there is a brand that has smoke in some of their 6 axles, but I can't remember which one. Or maybe it was a different scale..
MTH HO had smoke in some but they had issues after a while.
Thanks guys
Very cool
Really liking the layout!
Which model is the CSX geep on your display shelf?
It's an Athearn Genesis GP15T. It's pretty delicate, I nearly pulled the radiator grills off just taking it out of the box haha
@@JoeyBPhotography On mine, one of the grills was off before I took it out of the box. A quick fix with a couple of drops of CA.
@@JoeyBPhotography Yikes! Thanks for the info! Off to search for one :)

Thank you. I watched the video and it answered my questions on size.
