Been studying about 300 hours so far for the FAR section. Still not ready. Some websites say it should only take like 150 hours per section. There is NO way.
I’m late to this comment but How’d ya do? Also I put in 175 hours into FAR and passed. I think 150-185 hours per section is reasonable. 300 hours for one section sounds extreme, and you could probably pass the exam, sounds like you are over studying to get a high score.
FAR book is the thickest book in all four books. A lot of people struggle with this section. The best way to pass is to find your own study method to understand the study material, not just to remember it. Good luck! :)
"A lot of people struggle with this section." Ya think? Lol! One of the greatest unironic understatements of all time! Yes, as innumerable people have stated before, this exam is literally a "mile wide and an inch deep". They do this to intentionally "capsize" your little canoe and drown you in that inch of water. Once you start doubting yourself or become convinced that it's an impossible task, it's over. Keep in mind that all the candidates are in the "same boat", and there aren't many super geniuses in the testing centers. Nobody is going to master every topic, it's inevitable that you will carry gaps in your knowledge base into that testing center. But if you give it your best, it just might be enough.
I did my undergrad in Accounting, and then immediately enrolled in Masters of Finance to reach 150 credit hours. I am going to graduate in May 2023, which is only in 4 months. I wanted to start studying before I graduate, but because the Becker course is so expensive, therefore I’m waiting to start my full time job after i graduate lol. I’m nowadays watching videos on UA-cam about CPA to mentally prepare myself:
Thanks for the video. It helped to alleviate some of my anxiety about passing the exam. Did you pass all 4 sections on your first attempt? Your website also provided some insightful tips. Thanks again.
Thanks for your support. I live in lebanon and i have a bachelor degree in Accounting and i would like to continue studying for the CPA courses. Please advise. Thanks again.
Take FAR first and keep taking it until you pass. If you can pass that, you can pass the rest of them. That's the "blood and guts" of being a CPA, the rest of it is just window dressing. And yeah, statistically you have less than a 10% chance of passing all four parts the first time, but don't let that discourage you. 50% of the people taking the exam shouldn't even be there, so you need to keep that in mind. It's "possible", but yes, it's still a killer test. It's designed to frustrate and intimidate. It is a "hazing" to keep the "riff-raff" out of the profession. If you eventually pass it, you'll thank the examiners later. If you can't, you'll curse them. That's life, sorry to say.
Would you say that the CIMA exams are harder than the cpa exams, especially considering the longevity and the diversity of the exams? Because I'm doing CIMA right now and it's killing me
