I’m surprised how many people are seeing one of these for the first time. These things are terrific. I’ve done about a dozen of these over the course of my career. Glad you guys liked the video.
First time I have ever seen or heard of a light lift. A very convenient way of changing light bulbs and cleaning the luminaire, or replacing it altogether. Very cool. Thanks for sharing, Ron.
They use these a lot in churches, auditoriums, schools, and in some old movie theaters. In the earlier days they used handcranked lifts that worked similar to a come along. When the fixture had to be relamped or cleaned, you would have to unhook or unplug the fixture and then crank it down and back up by hand.
Thanks Ron! I’m an electrician in the philadelphia area and just came across this today. I have to fix one that someone installed incorrectly. The whole thing was on one switch leg and they ran the hots to one switch and neutrals to the other switch and just twisted all remaining wires together! Being unfamiliar with the device I wasn’t fully equipped to explain how it should be, only how it shouldn’t lol. This video has helped tremendously.
Good I’m glad it had helped. One circuit for the motor lift and a switched leg for the light fixture. Make sure the light switch is off before lowering or raising the light fixture.
this is a very interesting material. i have only once seen such a device in a palace in san francisco. the fixture was some 200 years old and weighd 300 lbs of bronze. thanks for the video.
Off topic but next time you clean out your van do a rundown of what ya got! Tell us what you like and don’t like about your van and the stuff you keep on it. Some of us need ideas haha. Thank you for the vids though awesome content!!
Hi - very nice video!...what is the name of the round plate (& its corresponding round plate in the attaic) that when they make contact with each other it completse circuit & light comes on/off? I need to purchase one...thx
Hello Ron Do you know if there is any way to make aladdin light lift work with 3 way switch? I been searching with no luck. And that's how I got to your video, thanks
Well, first off... an arc fault circuit breaker detects arc faults. An arc can be caused by a loose terminal electrical connection or a defective appliance. It would be best to call a licensed electrician to find the issue.
how are you ron i was watching your video my question is how long does it take you to hang that light and how much is charged for that type of work thank you and good night
@@Lawnandgarden to be on the safe side, yes. The light lift motor itself is what you should be concerned about but I’ve done them without a new circuit.
I have an aladdin lift with a key and it used to work until an electrician messed up the wiring connection on the wall switch that turns on/off the light. Any suggestion how to fix the wiring connection? I should note that nothing was changed on the lift or key switch.
@CCCC-tq8yo not sure but the electrician messed up the wiring to the switch and was not familiar with the lift wiring. I'm waiting for someone to fix it though.
This is excellent video.Thank for posting. I was wondering if you have installed any flush mount chandelier with Aladdin lifts or do you have thoughts about the flush mounts and lifts?

I've done some old mansions that pretty much had a hand crank
@@scottniswonger7804 that’d make an interesting video!
What’s the going price to charge to install
Wow this is something new. I never knew these thing existed

I think you're the first to use the term "luminaire" on this channel. You MUST be an electrician too.

First time for me. I often wondered how you change the bulbs. I am learning a lot. Thanks Ron
I had no idea this light lift thing existed 🤣
Definitely a luxury item.
@@electricianron_New_Jersey How much did the total job run?
Ron, great work! Always wanted to see the process.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sweet! Gotta be rough doing this by yourself! 👍👍
You got that right!
Wow! Great job! Thank God you had that window shelf to rest of the chandelier on! You have made it so easy for the homeowner to clean & care for!
I do my best mom!
Thank you for this! I had no idea such a thing exists but I'll tuck that in a grey cell for the future.

Super enjoyable to watch your videos! Nice to see a US version of all the UK electrician videos that are available on UA-cam.
Keep ‘em coming!
Glad you like them!
Gezzz quite the job. Damn. Good job now.💪
You’re the man RON!
Thank you Mr Monsoon!
You do great work and put great care into what you do. Love the content!
Thank you very much!
Nice job Ron!
Thank you!
I just picked up a Wera torque screwdriver to tighten all the panel terminals to proper manufacture torque specs.
I should have one but $60 for a screwdriver?
Great job.Never saw one before.
It's incredible isn't it?

I believe this Light lift had a capacity of 200 lbs but they make them and are available with 700 lbs capacity.

One day soon it's coming.
Great job quick
Bravo, excellent work. I'd be pretty nervous balancing on that ladder while messing with that light!
Thanks Aaron!
Nice work Ron!
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks. I have never encountered that kind of device before!
Do you have one showing the pulleys I'm going to have to use probably five or six
Nice work Ron! Great video, very informative.
The light lift is quite unique!
I have the same unit you removed. Tonight the limit
Switch went and it punched a hole through the dry wall.
The company is out of business and apparently left a lot of angry customers.

This was a replacement so it’s a bit different from a new install. All new wiring, the lift, and complete installation runs approximately $3200.
Do you need to run separate power for the light lift?
@@Lawnandgarden to be on the safe side, yes. The light lift motor itself is what you should be concerned about but I’ve done them without a new circuit.

This is excellent video.Thank for posting. I was wondering if you have installed any flush mount chandelier with Aladdin lifts or do you have thoughts about the flush mounts and lifts?
This light lift does light fixtures so I'm unsure what your question is.
The homeowner should have considered one of those lightweight LED fixtures that are thin and modern.
This was an existing chandelier.
Thanks now I’ve got to add one more thing to my want list right after my private jet and executive private helicopter . :)
You and me both!
Hey Ron, do you install in Staten Island?
I’m not licensed in New York.
How much does that cost?
$2500
The nipple on my lift is 3/8 I can’t fit a normal chandelier any help
This is not an issue. Call a licensed electrician.
That's a newer home, its surprising to see how terrible the insulation job is
Everything was great until he put that sticker on the key 😆 🤣 😂
Why
Soooooo loud I just bought one now in thinking no
Seriously do you need a apprentice?
I do my best work on my own.
